I like the prison in Silent Hill 2 cause you jump into like 5 bottomless pits
Then go through a door and you're outside

lol speaking of endings what do you guys think was the most fitting ending to silent hill 2?
i ask silent hill 2 because it's the best one in my opinion
i think in the water ending is the real ending. someone similiar to james' description was mentioned in silent hill 3 by douglas. he said it was a missing person's case. if he had taken laura with the leave ending then he wouldn't still be missing. also if he chose maria that might not leave him missing either. rebirth ending i thought was cool but kind of like a cliffhanger so i'm not sure if he died that way. there were more endings i think, but i can't remember them right now:(
well ...
Jame's father is a NPC in Silent hill 4, and in that game the character says upon seeing a portrait "this was given to me by the super frank sunderland, his son and daughter in law disappeared in silent hill a few years back"
so yeah, the 'in water' ending is pretty much the true ending to silent hill 2, and imo as well its the best suited one, afterall james isnt a 'pure' character either. He didnt deserve to get a clean break..
on that note, the UFO ending of silent hill 3 takes the cake as the best ending ever.

I thought it was kinda weird how Douglas said "Nobody's gonna cry over my grave." and then Douglas' voice actor died a few weeks after. Not my favourite moment but my favourite creepy moment, I think it's a good quote as well.

:O his voice actor died? wow i didn't know. douglas' character at first i didn't like him, but i liked him in the end. i liked vincent more than him though  "it's not that far, but it's closer than heaven" or something like that

I like it when victor messes with Heather's mind in the church
implying that the monsters were really people raised a lot of questions in me

vincent not victor :P i think there was a reference to that in silent hill 2 as well. the protagonist (heather, james, harry, henry) always sees the world fucked up or in nightmare mode. that's their own world, the real world could be going by but they're stuck in that kind of limbo

sorry, For some reason when I read an earlier post I read "victor" instead of "vincent" and It stuck in my head

Silent Hill 1 beginning, the music is fantastic, and when you reach the alley, the camera work is amazing, one of the most memorable moments in gaming for me.
Also, Silent Hill 4.
All of it.

really, all of it ? i for one thought it was the most lackluster game in the series, obviously because it wasnt meant to be a silent hill game to start with.

nightmare mode didn't scare me at all :( it did have some good parts to it though. and it was cool seeing frank sunderland  sometimes i'd look through the peephole and i'd see frank sidestepping:hitler:
my favorite moments in silent hill 4 was watching eileen through the hole and watching frank sunderland too -.-

Actually, I think that was Frank sweeping... I liked watching Eileen more though... Especially as it got closer to her scenario...

I liked The Good+ ending in Silent Hill 1. Also the scene of Lisa Mutating.
In Silent Hill 2, I liked the apartment scenes.
in Silent Hill 3, the scene when she gets back home
To this day, I still havn't beaten Silent Hill 4, but I liked the seens looking at Eileen.
Now the hate, I hate any scene dealing with sewers. There in all games and I hate them.

Well, that's part of the reason I love it. I went into the game with the preconception that this would be a horror game with alot of Silent Hill references, and that's what I got. I can understand why many people disliked the game or didn't believe it was anywhere close to the other games, and really, that's Konami's fault for forcing the team to make it a Silent Hill title.
However you can tell the team was under strain, I mean, they completed Silent Hill, it was a huge success, and they were given enough time to create Silent Hill 2. However, due to it being a bigger success, they were made create Silent Hill 3 right after 2, with 3 suffering for it, and then when they tried to create something fresh and new, AKA Room 302, Konami made them throw more Silent Hill references in and tack on the Silent Hill name.
If anything, the reason we have not seen anything from Team Silent since 2004 is probably because they were worked to the bone from around 2000 through to 2004. And with, what I imagine, mass dissapointment with the Silent Hill film, only three members of the team are still visable, Yamaoka (who is taking alot of credit for the creation of the series), Ito and Owaku who are currently writing digital graphic novels for Japanese cell phones within the Silent Hill universe.
So yes, Silent Hill 4, great success! :hitler:
Also, another favourite moment, Silent Hill 2, when James realises everything in the hotel room after watching the tape.

yea i had an avatar of that where he's sitting in the chair, when i realized what he did i hated him but i wanted to see what happens at the end. also someone mentioned that lisa mutation part, i felt sorry for her :( she didn't deserve it. my favorite part in silent hill 1 was when kauffman came out all angry because we got his drugs
I still need to complete the first one >.< it just keeps getting put back with all the programming i'm doing. so many moments in these games i like
SH2: when james discovers everything in the hotel
SH3: when ya realise who heather really is
Sh4: when the whole plot comes together
that's all i can remember >.<

I don't know, had it not been for the media at the time spoiling the Heather=Cheryl thing, I don't think I would have known straight away, if not until at least the end of the shopping mall.
And DXP, you really should play Silent Hill 1. The style and atmosphere of that game are still unrivaled within the Silent Hill universe. The sheer amount of depth and symbolism from the monsters, to the puzzles to the weapons is fantastic, even more so considering it was released in 1999, when the only other game with good depth was Metal Gear.
Ironically enough, after Metal Gear Solid, the localizer moved to the Silent Hill series, perhaps why the dialog and, in the case of the 3rd game, the voice acting in particular, where fantastic, compared to the Metal Gear series which has been given incresingly dissapointing translations since Metal Gear Solid (In particular, the end of Metal Gear Solid 2, a large amount of dialog and voice acting in Metal Gear Solid 3).
