Game Time in the RE series

I forgot which affects finish time..
Should you go to status or pause to keep the seconds off the clock? (while taking a break)
Also, is it the same for all games in the series?

i thought pressing select, which is the pause, stopped the clock cos there is no sound or movement, but ended up getting a high final time. so i'm not sure on this one, but gd ? i'd like to know the answer aswell.

also, let's hope Nemesis in UC is terrifying- more so than the other carriers.
