  • Wesker's Extra Report (photos)

Here are pics of the new Wesker's Extra Report.

It's rather small, and most of it seems rehashed from Biohazard Archives, spare a new page or two, and some of the artworks.

I'll see if I can get a quick translation precis of the new gear tonight. Maybe even a scan or two. At home I only have a camera, and did these as I was rushing to work. Hopefully I can jump on the work scanner during my break

Was this in the special edition with the zapper only?

That's where I got it from.
It's sealed in the case with the game. I'm not sure if it's in the normal run of the game, but I believe it was advertised as being exclusive to the zapper-combo (expert package). At least that's what I read online.

      EDIT:
The report is only pictured in the expert package in the Capcom Japan online shop.

Not sure what the deal with the leather wallet is though.

A quick precis translation of the new pages

horrible incidient in a small town in Russia's Caucaus region.

People in village making fuss, they think the legendary monster called 'Arumas' has been reborn.

This incident reminds them of the first homicide that happened in raccoon forrest.

3 km from the village, there is an old chemical plant, that was built in Soviet era.

According to the investigation, the ownership of the plant was transmitted to a rich person, upper class person in Europe (the person isn't named).

5 years ago, the owner invested money, and developed huge underground research plant. According to the geographic investigation, there is a solid layer, and the place has good conditions for making a research plant.

I think we have enough information to solve this crossword.

5 years ago the disappearance of Raccoon, Umbrella has been alive.
The pointed all his mistakes to the American government. He got a death penalty, but it was prolonged. It was lucky for Umbrella that he has a connection with the government.

Umbrella is alive. I think it will come back again, because BOW has been a suprise weapon for him.
Umbrella is making bioweapon and owns a ship (boat) to export the weapons.
Then the US government decided to execute Umbrella again.

Not sure if hte person refered to in the end is a person, or personified umbrella. MY friend siad its full of metaphor of execution. Looks like the fall was a 2-stage deal, with part 2 being UC and Dead aim.

Interesting. This book would be handy in determining Capcom's "official" stance on older events (whether they are meant to be retconned or taken from the older games). Any idea if the book sheds light onto this dilemma?

I'd still take the old games as canon over UC, or even this book.

I doubt they'd take this as being their main canon, considering that it's a very limited run. This new gear is probably just a back story like incubate or something. The rest seems to be straight out of Archives. However it does ignore characters who aren't playable in UC, like Barry and Willaim. No coverage for Hunk and Ada and others too,

Even of the new content, most of it seems to be what's already known. However the Arumas thing has caught my interest, and hte mention of a boat to export the goods (and I'm thinking it has to be the Spencer Rain) made me smile.

I'm glad that this is at least providing some closure to the old Umbrella, as well as giving us some clues as to the current whereabouts of Spencer. It's very likely that the boat in question is indeed the Spencer Rain, but that'll depend entirely on when this report was written. From the sounds of it, it looks as though it put together in 2003.

"Five years ago, after the disappearance of Raccoon City, Umbrella has been alive."
Only reason I'm saying this is because a friend of mine on MSN, also a long standing Biohazard fan, was unsure about the exact dates of the report. Now I don't mean to sound pretentious with this statement, just outlining what we already know so that we can piece things together. Following the outbreak in Raccoon City, Umbrella entered a lengthy court battle with the U.S. government - in which, Umbrella managed to shift some of the responsibility to the U.S. government, thanks to the company's deep pockets. However, eventually this fell through and Umbrella was revealed to be behind everything. During this time, Wesker (our "anonymous witness"), secretly provides evidence against Umbrella, along with confirming Spencer's involvement.

The old chemical plant that was constructed during the Soviet era and later converted into research laboratories is obviously the facility in 2003, and that village which is mentioned, is three kilometres from it. Now, going from this, we can assume that Umbrella was broken up over a number of years. 1998 was the beginning of Umbrella's downfall, and over the course of five years, the company was disassembled. In 2002, we had the U.S. STRATCOM's Anti-Umbrella Pursuit Team, so already the U.S. government was taking steps in stopping Umbrella. As for Spencer himself, I'm of the belief that he will have an involvement with RE5. Wesker mentioned that Umbrella was "planning to sell its bioweaponry to unstable regions of the world", and Africa is one of those such regions, and is also the setting of RE5. The scenario fits, and it would be good for it to happen.

So, what can we confirm from the end of UC and this new Wesker's Report?

i.) A "horrific incident" takes place at a remote village, not far from the Russian facility. Chris and Jill investigate this, there is talk about a "legendary monster", called 'Arumas' being reborn. This may or may not take place AFTER the "Umbrella's End" scenario.

ii.) Umbrella is now finally finished for good. It took five years to end the company, and the FBI are working in tandem with the Russian authorities to apprehend Spencer, who is now a wanted man.

iii.) Wesker is now in full control over what remains of Umbrella. He is in possession of all of Umbrella's research and combat data, and now has samples of practically every viral agent that was developed.

Personally, I think this sets the stage quite well for RE4, and ultimately RE5. We can only hope that Capcom do a reasonable job of splicing this all together, and ensuring that the storyline flows well between each. Anyway, thank you for that translation, it's helped shed some light on some of the remaining mysteries after UC. Hopefully we'll be able to draw some more conclusions about this, and perhaps theorise on where the story will go next.

Unless otherwise contended in RE5 I am inclined to agree. Is there anyway we could get better pictures of the new material sections so I can get a more complete translation?

Wasn't Wesker's Report II released 'exactly' in the same manner to a degree as was this? (to the Japanese market) ...we all believe it to be canon, don't we? (same goes for 'Origins Of Nemesis'...straight from a Japanese strat guide, before it made its way into Archives)

Gene, where did you buy the package from? wasn't Play-Asia was it? ...like to know who's(retailers) received them and whos shipped them out so far....got a bad feeling won't be getting one from the place I pre-ordered.

This ARUMAS, is actually ALMAS some kind of myth of the Russian caucasus region, and indeed UC files mention the Umbrella Russian base is located in this same region.
Almas is a legendary creature, a "wild man" sort to speak... here is wikipedia entry about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almas_%28cryptozoology%29

It seems like some of the B.O.W had escaped from the facility, could be any creature, hunters, chimera, eliminators, cerberus, etc and hence why the strange reports similar to the first Raccoon Arklay Mountains reports of bizarre murder cases.

Wesker's Report II was originally only on Japanese REmake site, but when the game came out in Europe and America, it was translated into English and put on European or American official REmake site (or both, I don't remember).

Quite correct that Weskers Report II was translated to English and put, at least on the European official website. They later took down the flash version, but I believe you can still download it in a PDF.

                          Evil_Rob:
I'm actually living in Japan at the moment, and manganed to find it at Toys R Us. Most other shops only took pre-orders and sold out. I saw Play Asia sold out of their pre-orders long ago. The official Online Capcom store here in Japan has also sold out. They seem to be really really thin on the ground.

I'll work at getting scans of the new pages soon.

I'm not surpised it's Almas. In Japanese it reads 'A' 'Ru' 'Ma' 'Su', but there is no seperate sound for L, and R is used to compensate.

Play-Asia had it back up just hours ago, even said ships in 24 hours. But its now back to out of stock once again.

I pre-ordered from Yes-Asia last month, the status was saying 'searching suppliers, local and overseas' ...plus what was listed on the item's page, it didn't look good. In fact was gonna give them a couple more days before contacting them about it...no need, received an email yesterday, as I had expected, said they couldn't find any from their suppliers and have cancelled the order.

Just picked one up on ebay just minutes ago, for more than what Yes-Asia had it, but alot less than the $150 Play-Asia was asking just 6-7 hours ago, got it for $109.

The new Wesker's Report, starting off as did Wesker's Report II did, Japanese only, so maybe they'll do the same thing, have it translated later on for the rest of the world. Why not release it for everyone at the same time?
