I'm waiting on the Steam release which for some reason isn't on Steam yet but was wondering if anyone has gotten the PS3 or 360 versions. What do you think of it?

Kotaku have put up their review (360 version)

Sounds pretty good... but I'd like to read a few other impressions too.

I haven't gotten it as all the video game selling stores around my area either claim it comes out tomorrow or just flat out tell me no such thing exists :hitler:

Well, it only shipped today. It's not out until tomorrow afternoon. I'd say we'll hear what people think from then onward.

I should of known better. I thought today was the store date but with no word on a Steam release date for some reason I jumped into the conslusion that the console version hit shelves today. Maybe there will be more word on the PC release as well tomorrow.

Been playing it all afternoon. It's an amazing game and certainly is Silent Hill. If you love the Silent Hill series for what it is, then you oughtta love the new one!!

I was hoping they wouldn't stick to the same cookie-cutter plot like they have been. Go with something a bit different maybe. It just feels like I already know the entire plot of the game because its following the plot of the previous ones nearly line by line.

The rust and molten lava parts just go on for far too long. I mean, I get it, hes going deep underground. We don't need to play this for 20 minutes, hopping down various ledges, or going down another set of ladders.

At the moment, I'm disappointed with what I've played. I initially liked it a bit, but its turned sour as I play. The combat is just frustrating, and I played it wrong (apparently) through the first half of the game. The dodge maneuver is clunky and just feels wrong.

I'll keep going through :\

I got my copy today, too bad the US 360 version is region locked so I didn't get a chance to play it. >_<
The seller promised to replace my copy with the Asian version, though (it supposedly works on PAL systems).

Dot, maybe you can help me with this part as it has to do with the section with all the fire and jumping downward and downward onto the metal platforms. It's the boss fight right after that.

Don't you love it when the game keeps starting you with about 1/3 your health after you die? No? Me neither. Thus, my problem. I can't defeat Scarlett because I simply don't have enough health. I've gotten as far as her transformation sequence where she gets all fast, only to be quickly hit and killed. I have no healing items and no bullets thanks to those smog monsters which kept spewing smog at me and knocking me down earlier.

Yeah, its pretty crappy how the game does that :\ I struggled at parts because of that.

After playing some more, the game really gets better after you return to the Shepard's house. I'm probably almost done.

So... is this worth shelling $60 for? I canceled the reservation after much thought. I haven't touched a game aside from 4 hours of Yakuza 2 in over a month now.

I've just started the game over. My situation with that particular boss is impossible.

Hey, could any of you Americans please send me (pennyroyal_3 [at] yahoo.co.uk) good, big scans of front, back, and disc of both the 360 and PS3 versions for my website? Credit will be given, of course. ;)

Thanks!

I picked it up this afternoon I was lucky enough to get the last copy at our Gamestop. I spent about an hour and a half playing it earlier tonight and I must say Konami did another outstanding job! Imo anyway.

Anders, dude, maybe you wanna remove the mail from the post, you know, for the spam. Or write it like this: pennyroyal_3 [at] yahoo.co.uk or pennyroyal_3 [at] yahoo [dot] co [dot] uk.

Dot, when are you gonna upload the video of the game ala SH Origins? Looking forward to that =).

After thinking on it a while, I figure this game would land in the 8.0 range for me. Initially, I was frustrated with the dodge mechanic, but very late in the game it clicked with me and just worked. The story, while interesting, isn't really as grand as I had hoped, but does bring some nice back story to the region around Silent Hill.

Ridley, very soon. I'm almost done..and jesus, this is gonna be a whopper. 2-3 hours long, I'm estimating. I'm trying to tie together the cutscenes with some cinematic gameplay segments. It'll be for members only, again. But 720p, 480p, and streaming :)

Corrin, the other endings are on youtube. I got:
The Operating Room one. IMO, this is most likely the canon ending. Its very similar to the Water ending in Silent Hill 2

Wait for the smog monster to reveal it lungs and shoot them twice. It should go down with no problem.Sucks how there's a limit on your ammo however.

excellent horror experience but it doesn't feel like a SH game , and im extremely disappointed that i didn't get to see Bogeyman roam around SH randomly, and facing him as a boss fight, i really wanted that to happen :'(

I'm enjoying SH:H right now for the most part, except that I don't find it as scary as the past titles.

Then again, I've never been a huge fan of SH (only beaten 1 and 2). I'm kinda enjoying it in the same sense that a casual RE fan enjoyed RE4.

Has anyone gotten to the final boss yet? I'm having a hard time with him and I'm low on ammo and made a stupid mistake of not getting the rifle :/ A saved game would be nice too with full ammo and the axe. My axe just disappeared lol.

Axe sucks. Stick with the knife, man! ^_^

That said, anyone have an idea of how far I have left in the game? I just beat the second boss.

I think Homecoming had the second best storyline (second only to SH2). The game itself felt like a B title. The sound design, gameplay mechanics, graphics, none of it was polished like in most of the previous titles. And it was probably the least scary.
But I still think it has enough charm to earn its place in the SH franchise. At least it's got a great storyline and does justice to the overall artificial universe.
