Hi, I found this site about 2 weeks ago when someone linked to this site for something RE4 related on the Gamefaqs boards. I don't own a GC and never really played or looked at any other Resident Evil games cause I'm not much of a Horror movie game type person. But I watched a review on X-play of this game when it came out on GC and as soon as I saw I wanted to play it, to me it looked nothing like what I thought a horror or survival horror game would be or look like. I love FPS and 3rd Person shooters and that was why I wanted to play this game.

Anyway enough about how I found the site and RE, well about me I'm a 22 year old Senior in college at the University of Alabama (UA) majoring in History with a minor in Poly Science. I am a big sports fan having played football back in high school in Birmingham, AL. Though thanks to almost all the star players from the teams we played against back in HS getting scholarships to UA and playing some I got burned out a bit when it comes to football and have become a huge baseball fan of late. When it comes to baseball I attend all the UA baseball home games and am a fan of the Florida Marlins and Chicago White Sox in the MLB. I mainly like FPS, 3rd-person shooters and sports games. My liking of shooters combinded with my History major, makes me a bit of a gun buff and is one of the main things I look at in a shooting game and interests me the most when it comes to History.

Hello, I am Aaron. I actually came arrived at this forum after searching for Resident Evil 1.5 stuff, and later on Resident Evil 3.5...

I will be honest, I am really not to much into RE in general, but I did enjoy the series. Resident Evil 4 is in my top 5 games, and I am really interested in any discoveries to do with RE4, RE3.5, RE1.5... Beta stuff, glitches, and other discoveries like that get me excited, I have no clue why.

(Also excited about news on Resident Evil 5)

My favourite games are from Ueda ("Shadow of the Colossus" and "ICO". I mostly like RPG's, but second in line is survival horror games, and Resident Evil is probably the best series so far.

Survival-ish games I've played...

Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 4, 0, and the ramake on GC.
Clock Tower 2, and 3. ( I didn't finish either of them... 2 was great)
Devil May Cry 1, 2, 3 (I didn't finish 1)
Parasite Eve 1, 2 (Only played some of each)
Onimusha 1, 2, 3, 4
Silent Hill 1, 2, 3, 4 (Only a bit of 4)
Dino Crisis 1, 2
Rule of Rose (haven't finished yet)
Fatal Frame 1, 2 (didn't complete 2)

That's pretty much it, anything you want to know... just ask. =)

100% Correct. ^^; I mean I love the Resident Evil films as they are naturally PART of Resident Evil. But I look at how Silent Hill was adapted from the game and it shows me how the RE film could have been so much more.

Me too, bud. I got no problemo getting what you american dudes say but its really difficult to know what british say to me. I've been to England for 8 months, only got "bus" as "boos", "thank you very much" as "thank you very mooch", bla bla bla, etc. that's why I dislike talking with them and using phone call for business as we can't get both of us understand even if we gotta repeat our words couple times.

@Buddy: Yo, man. EMU rocks, this is professional sound card for audio creation such as creating 96KHz/24Bit soundtracks. But this sound card is for recording studio only cause it doesn't support functionality for home entertainment, hence Audigy2ZS or X-Fi are what I strongly recommended, like buying X-Fi Fatality FPS Pro costs only 120 bucks and you'll get DTS-ES, Dolby Digital EX, 96KHz/24Bit/5.1, and 192KHz/24Bit/Stereo for Hi-Definition Movies, Music, and games featured. This the issue I always wanna talk about, new games and movies only provide lame audio and there is no solution due to some consoles which have no build-in-decoder soundcard don't provide digital out port, ie, XBOX, GC, and XBOX 360. But PS is always going good cause it provide Optical-out (a red laser light on the back of console), so you can hook up it to your soundcards which has decoder or an independent decoder with a optical fibre cable to make "perfect" sound to your speakers...

You know if there is going to be a 7.1 version of the stand alone decoder? Y'know this one, just instead with full true 7.1 support? If so, I think I wait for that, as i can't decide whether to get 5.1 heaphones which include a decoder, the logitech one which includes all the 5.1 decoding, or one of these and some good 5.1 PC speakers. I have a 5.1 SB Live! 24-bit, so I think I want something that works with both my rooms HDTV and my computer which I hope to get a gfx card for soon.

Each of Professional sound cards including EMU has only 6 DACs provided which means they support 5.1 only and do not have decoders, but have encoders instead (depends) thats why I suggest you buy the sounds I listed, which all support 7.1 speakers. I think most of TV games would be disappointment to you due to the best audio produced currently is only Dolby 5.1 but ya still can get 7.1 by using Creative DTS Neo:6 to rout 5.1 to 7.1 as analogue output. I don't wanna break your heart but all guys in my forum call "SB Live! 24-bit" losers' crap.

You don't need to buy a set of speakers 'cause:
1, you can buy a powerful sound card hardware-decoding compressed single.
2, Speakers with Decoder such as Logitech decodes for Dolby Digital (5.1) and DTS (5.1) only, and CANNOT decode for Dolby Digital-EX and DTS-ES (6.1). Your logitech is gonna decode DTS-ES as decoding DTS.
3, you cost too much
4, you'll get less chances to have your speakers replaced.
5, you can't features EAX 7.1 for gaming.

This used to be a frequently asked qustion by flood of American guys and girls. Not only even been asked in my forum, also in www.driverheaven.net and other well known forums.

There were 3 reason I did this - 1) It'd be easy for me going around entire Europe, 15 countries:D; 2) the VISA for USA is quite difficult for me to get; 3) it's convenient to get familiar with British life due to my last destinations were Malaysia and Singapore (Have you guys been to Singapore? lol. i'm DXP and i'm a big fan of silent hill and Resident Evil have been for a while now actually lol. I have all the Re books by Perry and the two movie books, the silent hill dying inside graphic novel, and the resident evil umbrella archives. I'm currently studying games developing at uni to hopefully one day make some really cool games (can only hope) at this moment though I'm trying to make a fps creator version of resident evil 1.5. and after seeing the bioflames website was shocked as to why capcom never actually stuck with the original version of two.

Ah man you missed out on the initial buzz of all this haha. Bioflames has a huge topic on it and its progress but I'll give it a rough run-down here (Especially as our site needs updating but only Leatherface has the ability to do this but he doesn't know how >.<)

Okay, a fair long while back now, probably pushing on a year or so if I think about it... Leatherface started making a first person shooter replica of Resident Evil 2's original concept (1.5 to all of us) I was signed in to do some of the world models, and eventually designed Cofu - a rip-off of Tofu but by God if he isn't cool :P
We got a fair way into the designing process, having nearly completed the entire first floor of the RPD and the rough outline of the map of the second floor, with Alzaire sketching up some maps, BlackCrow doing the character models - as I'm way too rubbish at modelling to do characters - Viper working on the Train map from the labs at the end, and doing a damn fine job too may I add, well up in the ranks of Leatherface's design skills, but we hit a wall when we failed numerous times to get a coder to help us.
We've tried numerous people, sent them the content so far, even had a few examples of code sent to us I believe, but no one's actually started and continued working with us. I think we have some kind of plague that affects coders only.

Until we get a coder the projects effectively dormant, although I've still got a few models being constructed, some higher res ones than the ones I did before as I've decided it won't kill many computers and we want this game to look sexy. Other than that though...

There were also talks of porting it to the source engine but we never really decided anything on that...

Hey gang. Figured I'd finally sign up here. A few of ye might know me from other places. Duds/IceDDZ on DLCSS (I still have your RE4 soundpack if you want it re-hosted ;D ) and Greko from University.

I'm a big fan of the RE Saga, and pretty much all or any Capcom spinoff games of similar calibre (Devil May Cry deserves it's own religion tbqfh). I've read the books, played the games, forced myself to watch the films (Sienna Guillory was the sole redeeming asset in REA -.- ) and acquired my fair share of memorabilia.

Because of this rather unhealthy hobby of being an aficionado of the RE series, I've been roped into many projects of RE heritage because of my other hobby, which is graphics design, mostly 3d work. Projects such as Resident Evil Cold Blood (http://www.recoldblood.com) in which I am an active member of the devteam, and currently in the process of finishing up some additional weapons to Beta 2 (for those of you following the mod, it's so close to completion it's insane). Beta 3 will be another huge leap as we're aiming for a SP portion to add. I'll be promoted to co-lead when we get to that stage, so rest assured you'll hear about the latest developments almost first ;D

As I stated, I also do my fair share of 3d modelling, used to revel in the cs community creating/hacking (read: not the illegalcheating kind)/compiling/texturing weapon models for use within the game. Some may have seen my Samurai Edge hacks floating around ... they suck compared to the newest model I've created from scratch :P . But yeah, I gave up on the CS community because it became too elitist and self-absorbed. Seeing 12 year old hormone driven arnie felchers negatively critiquing your work using the worst application of leetspeak and shorthand ever derived by man is enough to drive anyone away.

Okay, a fair long while back now, probably pushing on a year or so if I think about it... Leatherface started making a first person shooter replica of Resident Evil 2's original concept (1.5 to all of us) I was signed in to do some of the world models, and eventually designed Cofu - a rip-off of Tofu but by God if he isn't cool :P
We got a fair way into the designing process, having nearly completed the entire first floor of the RPD and the rough outline of the map of the second floor, with Alzaire sketching up some maps, BlackCrow doing the character models - as I'm way too rubbish at modelling to do characters - Viper working on the Train map from the labs at the end, and doing a damn fine job too may I add, well up in the ranks of Leatherface's design skills, but we hit a wall when we failed numerous times to get a coder to help us.
We've tried numerous people, sent them the content so far, even had a few examples of code sent to us I believe, but no one's actually started and continued working with us. I think we have some kind of plague that affects coders only.

Until we get a coder the projects effectively dormant, although I've still got a few models being constructed, some higher res ones than the ones I did before as I've decided it won't kill many computers and we want this game to look sexy. Other than that though...

There were also talks of porting it to the source engine but we never really decided anything on that...

Go to the Languages tab and select Install files for East Asian languages. That way it will show up the proper characters. You might need your OS install disc though.

You folkers can sort it out by doing following instructions: open control panel ---> Open Regional and location option ---> "Language" tab ---> circle "Install East-Asian language" something like that, then your windows can show Chinese words to you.
I don't have to do that as I'm on Chinese Windows already, and all data of my G virus Project has been stored in my hard drive...I'll release it to infect your asses!

you need to choose gb-2312 not big5 or else if you choose traditional chinese u will still not able to read what these 2 members writes.

No they are different, GB-2312 and BIG-5 are not the same text. BIG-5 is to read traditional chinese, what Hongkong people type. and GB-2312 is to read chinese typing from chinese people, from china

Yes, you were right but what I meant was they just wanted their windows show the characters and they didn't want to have functions for typing these characters. :)
By the way, GB-2312, GB-18030, and GBK are codes of simplied Chinese. we simply call them GB, generally for China's mainland; Big-5 is widely used for China's mainland, China's Hong Kong city, and Chinese Tai Wan province.

I'm sure I know them all as I'm a Chinese guy originally from People's Republic of China and I had been doing computing jobs for 3 years. But I admire you, a Germany-French one who could know that much about our cultures.

Not caucasian teach chinese, they are from my country mainly. the HK, Taiwan and china friends teach chinese for 10 yrs.

Both Mandarin and Cantonese are merely accents or dialects of Chinese in other word they are the same language. Actually there are millions of dialects in China. It's pretty similar as other countries such as UK in that Mandarin is like London English, Contonese is like Scottish English.

o_o I DO NOT understand why you have such thoughts, "England cannot let people type Chinese?" -No way, even if some guys are fucking stupid arrogant here, I'll do what I want on my pc. Whether you believe or not, I'm on Chinese Windows XP/Vista right now. I do not only type in Chinese, also I speak Chinese to PC by ViaVoice when I'm on QQ chatting with ma parents or friends who are in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan.
Everyday I play Command & Conquer 3 Chinese version and make/fix YouP PAX audio drivers for my forum...that was entirely based on Chinese, but I released English version due to a bunch of American, Australian, European (such as Spanish, polish, German, Dutch, Mungarian, scottish, Irish, Welsh, French, etc), African friends wanna use the drivers.
