"Resident Evil 4 isn't perfect, but it is value-packed. The game, which almost goes out of its way to show you how long it can be, probably overstays its welcome by about 5 hours or so, and there's no denying that Leon and company desperately need a strafe or lock-on function. Plus, as impressive as it is that the GameCube's high-quality graphics managed to port down to the PS2, you're still running into the same cast of about five different villagers around every corner (except for the bosses that fill the screen). It's like you blow them up, and then they dust off and run backstage to prep for their next scene. "Hey, you've got gunpowder on your make-up." "Oh do I? Thanks. Don't wanna go out there with that on." Some battles, especially when you're crowded by more than a couple villagers, suffer from some steep slowdown too, especially when you start chucking incendiary grenades around, but in spite of these graphical quirks, you're still playing, hands down, the best game of this kind. It's beautiful, it's bad-ass, it's a beast, and it's some of the most fun you'll ever have playing a video game. It definitely benefits from the touch of director Shinji Mikami, who knows his way around an action game as good as anyone. It's clear that the effort Capcom put in rebuilding Resident Evil from the ground up has paid off, and this is one of those rare discs worth savoring from beginning to end. GameCube owners should definitely at least rent this for the extra stuff, while PS2 users have no more excuse to ignore it. Barring some minor, indiscernible graphical details, this is the definitive version of survival-horror's defining moment."
So that now makes 2 perfect 10 scores for the PS2 version.

A lock-on feature...? The whole point of adding the free-aiming system was to make it so that YOU had to shoot at the zombies. Do these guys play CS and say "It needs an auto-aim feature, oh and make it snap to the enemies' heads too."
