Capcom Aiming to Increase Resident Evil Output
Company hopes to fight falling sales and earnings by releasing more software.

Capcom will be upping its output of Resident Evil, according to a report from Nikkei's web edition.

As part of a general report on attempts by publishers to reduce development times, the site states that Capcom aims to increase output of popular series like Resident Evil from the current two titles per year to three or four titles per year.

Developing a large scale title requires a staff of over 100. To increase output, Capcom plans on making use of outsourcing, centered primarily on North American and European studios. Through the use of external resources, Capcom believes it can reduce development times from four years to between two and three years.

Capcom's goal in all of this is to avoid the falling sales and earnings it experienced last year. The company aims to stabilize earnings by releasing more software.

I'm so happy, I always wanted to post news for you guys :)
Here is everything I could gather:

- 3 new story stages, including new areas, enemies, music and sounds!
- a bunch of new mercenaries stages
- 8 New Stages will be coming soon! Each of them is being teased in the game (under chapter selection)

Apparently there should be new Apps in the in-game store. Maybe I missinterpreted this?

Here is a picture of the new area 'Strongest assasin', which is quite big compared to the others. I don't know if it's just me, but the game seems to run better now (I have an iPhone 3G).

The first stage is set in the sewers where you fight Salazar's right hand.
The second stage is set on the lift before the figght against Salazar.
The third stafe is the fight against Salazar.

- It seems as if you will be able to play most of the game, including the big boss fight in the end.
- Ada is also included in the story, just not like in the actual game at the labyrinth , but after the last stage.
- The island will be unlocked. The Minigun wielding badasses will be there and I'm guessing that the stage "Guards!" will include other enemies known from the original game that were included in the Island area.
- The enemies STILL don't talk, which I find very sad, because I loved the spanish swear words. :)
- The boss battle 'U-3' is included in the game in future updates.

Following in the trail blazed by Dead Rising 2, the next Resident Evil game may come from the Great White North. SOCOM developer Slant Six Games could be the latest studio tapped by Capcom to create its games.

A document forwarded to Kotaku indicates that a new, team-based Resident Evil game is currently in development at Slant Six. The developer is responsible for SOCOM:U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation for the PlayStation 3 as well as two iterations for the PSP, Tactical Strike and Fireteam Bravo 3. Named (or codenamed) in the document as Resident Evil: Raccoon City, Slant Six looks to be staffing up to bring even more zombie game development to Vancouver.

When contacted for comment, publisher reps said "Capcom does not respond to rumors and/or speculation."

Slant Six Games writes on its official web site that it is currently in development on "an amazing new project" that is unannounced. That project is being developed in conjunction with a "new publishing partner on a world class franchise." Several Slant Six current and former employees list an unannounced "multiplayer action game" for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on their LinkedIn profiles.

In March of this year, Slant Six solicited work for a "Japanese translator/interpreter."

Slant 6 created the WORST game in the SOCOM franchise, and now are possibly working on a 'team-based' multiplayer Resident Evil game. I guess this is good news for those of you looking for an Outbreak-type game because this is a small light at the end of the tunnel...but for me...fuck it.

Also...a RE game outsourced to Canada. Is it too early to start calling them 'zombehs'? ;)

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and other already announced titles in Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise. But what about Resident Evil 6? Well, Capcom’s own Masachika Kawata has issued a statement regarding the inevitable sequel in an interview with MarcaPlayer. The statement has been posted in its original Spanish form on Resident Evil Center and later translated into French by the folks at Ultimate Resident Evil. You can read, if you can comprehend the language, the French and Spanish versions of Kawata’s statement below, followed by our English translation.

Spanish:

“la saga experimentará una renovación total con la siguiente entrega, a todos los niveles. Pero no tenemos que olvidar que gracias a los últimos títulos de la misma hemos conocido un universo gigante de posibilidades para Resident Evil. No puedo decir si trabajaremos sobre un survival horror o un shooter, pero sí que será algo totalmente nuevo”

French:

“La série va subir une rénovation complète pour le prochain épisode, à tous les niveaux. [...] Ce sera quelque chose de complètement nouveau. “

Now here’s our translation, my French and Spanish backgrounds have come to good use:

”The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can’t forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise. I can’t say if we’re going to make it (Resident Evil 6) survival horror or a shooter, but I can say that it’ll be totally different.”

This was first hinted at two years ago by Jun Takeuchi (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=353325), but was subsequently semi-denied. However, it seems we now have confirmation that this is still the case

Not a biggie, but Planet3DS.de (http://www.planet3ds.de/artikel/14-resident-evil-the-mercenaries-3d-im-gespraech-mit-producer-masachika-kawata/seite2.html) has recently interviewed Kawata about Revelations.

He said: "This time, the amount of script increased significantly and it will be a lot of work.", or in the German version, "This time, the number of dialogs in the game has been increased enormously, so that'll mean a lot of work."

Speculation: If the amount of script is "increased significantly" in comparison to Resident Evil 5 even, then it'll probably be the most story-heavy entry so far.

IGN: At this past Captivate, you announced Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, this team-based multiplayer shooter. Then you have Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D which is action-focused coming soon. Is there a vision for what Capcom wants to do with this franchise? It's obviously moving away from survival horror and more into straight action, like we saw recently with Resident Evil 5.

Svensson: Well we have Resident Evil Revelations…and then there's some other stuff. My take is this. Resident Evil fans who are action gamers will be happy. Resident Evil fans who are classic, survival horror fans will be happy. They won't necessarily be happy with the same products. But we hope that universe and that selection of characters can find happiness for all. Just stay tuned.

IGN: Where is Resident Evil Portable?

Svensson: Oh, Resident Evil Portable. That is definitely to be determined.

IGN: There was speculation that it was originally Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for PSP but was later moved to consoles…

Svensson: I can promise you there was absolutely nothing connected between the two.

New details on Resident Evil: Revelations surface

- Players will face a range of enviornmental hazards through out their play experience.
- Characters can swim underwater with full 360 degree control.
-Water can be brightened with a special light beam, making navigation easier.
- Water areas will give use to special under water weapons. Harpoon those whale Zombies!
- Weapons in the water means that there will be underwater enemies
- One teased boss for water stages is a giant squid like creature.
- Two of the games main characters will have to deal with cold/freezing conditions
- As speculated, the masked man seen at the end of the E3 2011 trailer is going to play a large role
- Popular enemies from the series will return, including Zombies.

Why does everyone suck at playing Resident Evil? That video was painful to watch. It's not that hard to shoot straight at an enemy. And then people walk off after an enemy is down on the ground. I always made sure that the enemy was really dead before moving on. And then people don't look behind them when they hear a sound and are walking forward. Stupidity, you know?
