Oh yeah. Leon and Barry working together. That's something I've always wanted to see, but not on a crappy handheld.

Barry is one of my favourite characters. I liked his cameo in RE3: Nemesis, although it was very brief.

I'm kind of shocked they are using Leon again so soon. I thought they would have had everybody on a rotation. Although I suppose it doesn't matter.

Leon is probably the main character in the series right now. He is after all a US agent working closely with the President of the United States and he was the first protagonist to encounter the Ganados, Las Plagas and Zealots.

Since Ada is now a traitor to Wesker, I think Ada is a bullseye for "S" and Wesker. I'm sure Leon and Ada will cross paths again, but not on good terms due to Ada's commitments.

A super-sneaky premium version of the Biohazard website has been uncovered in Japan. Basically all you have to do after going to the Biohazard website is to click on one of the nucleuses on the red cell that floating around aimlessy. That jumps to the premium site and voila, more red cell navigation will show you all kinds of goodies like game clips and an online sound game.

So what's with the picture? After you've clicked all the red cells, blue ones will appear that let you enter to win a part of the "Leone Collection", a set of Biohazard inspired clothing and accessories like his leather jacket. Many will enter, 25 will win. Not the whole sha-bang-a-bang, just one of the prizes in the poster. I wonder what size the one pair of "Engineer Boots" are...Kim Phu

Well, I didn't hate the first movie. It was ok-ish and the Red Queen was a pretty good character. Given that the RE developers did "steal" from the movie in RE4 and did something really cool, I trust them with that one, too.

As far as the tie-in woes go, I'm more afraid of what that would mean for continuity. That utterly destroy any hope of intelligently putting together Umbrella and Raccoon. The Hive just has no place in RE canon. I just hope they use the AI defense mechanism as an entity solely to the game.

Given that the voice-work for UC was done just a few weeks ago, it's probably save to assume that this other guy who mentioned to play Billy Coen in RE5 a few weeks ago (and removed this information from his website), really meant UC - not RE5. This is, of course, speculation on my part.

I hate to admit it, but I think it's a great idea and i'm honestly looking forward to it. I vaguely enjoyed the first movie, so no complaints here really. However, I must mention that other movie ideas = bullshit. I for one wouldn't buy a Bio title that had Alice fighting Nemesis on the roof of a building.

A diving suit under a mangled red denim suit is your mental image of the 80's? lol Bell bottoms made a brief comeback in the late 90's. Funny logic aside, and regardless of what your mental image is of that decade, simple character clothing isn't a reason to scrap out RE2.

The answer is simple. UC is a low budget project, and it shows. For one thing, the Wii is more than capable of better visuals than those shown so far. Instead, they chose to simply tweak the existing RE4 engine and re-use assets from existing titles.

Add the fact that they aren't expecting much out of the game sales-wise worldwide. IIRC, it was in the 600K area... a figure already surpassed by RE4 WE.

Someone over at neogaf translated a French preview of the demo build of Umbrella Chronicles from MGS.


● The poster managed to play through what he took to be the entirety of the RE0 and RE1 scenarios as they appeared to be completely unlocked in the demo version
● Controls were intuitive, and the Zapper added immersiveness. Seemed to particularly like the waggle for QTEs.
● There are apparently three difficulty levels - Easy, Normal and Hard - and the poster was pleasantly surprised by the level of challenge. Did note that most players chose normal and that he didn't see any of them manage to complete a chapter, though also points out that they had to give up their places regularly.
● Each level is based on one of the games - in this case, RE0 and RE1 - and each level is split into three "Chapters" which are themselves split into two parts with a checkpoint.
● Some Chapters have a mini-boss at the checkpoint.
● Green herbs are in, but are consumed on the spot for a small health boost. No other coloured herbs appear to be included.
● First-aid sprays are in and seem to act as automatic health refills when you lose all of your life.
● You can shoot elements of the environment to uncover "Umbrella" icons and collect files. The "File" menu was locked, but there appear to be at least two or three files per chapter to collect, so that aspect looks rather promising.
● Cinemas were incomplete and there were bad/missing textures and voice work.

As for the individual scenarios:

RE Zero --

● Chapter 1 is set aboard the Ecliptic Express, the train from the early stages of RE0. Enemies are mainly zombies and Cerberus, with some Leech Men thrown in. The boss of the level is Stinger, the huge scorpion.
● Chapter 2 begins after Rebecca & Billy leave the crashed train. There's a cinematic showing this, then the player takes control as they enter the Umbrella Management Training Facility. More zombies and Leech Men, as well as Eliminators and bats. The poster didn't complete this chapter, but based on where he got to as well as previous vids it appears that the Giant Bat is the boss for this Chapter.
● The chapter begins as the cable car drops the characters off at the Arklay Treatment Plant. More zombies, Eliminators & Leech Men to fight, then you descend into the laboratory - you can see this in the video. The Proto-Tyrant appears to be the checkpoint mini-boss and he is tough. The poster didn't play any further.

RE 1 --

● Chapter 1 starts after Chris and Jill find Kenneth's body. The rest of the chapter plays out as per the original game, with the first zombie attacks in the dining hall, the disappearance of Wesker and the first Cerberus attack. Crimson Heads start appearing around the halfway point and the chapter ends after the characters dispatch Forest.
● Chapter 2 starts in the courtyard. After taking on some enemies, and after passing the water puzzle, the player carries on into the cave area where they meet the Black Tiger - the giant spider - as a miniboss. The level carries on into the lodge, then down into the aquarium area fighting zombies and Hunters along the way. The poster reached the tanks with the sharks but died during a QTE so didn't see the end of the Chapter. Neptune certainly appears, and if the previous vids are any indication, so does Plant 42, perhaps as the boss of this chapter.
● The final chapter is set in the laboratory, starting where the elevator drops you off. Lots of zombies, Crimson Heads, Hunters and Chimeras to kill in this area. The poster got to the battle with the Tyrant T-002 and defeated it. The level seems to carry on afterwards, but he died and didn't see the end, though I'd assume it carries on back to the helipad and a final confrontation with the Tyrant as the last boss.

One final note, and it's a spoiler. During the last Chapter of the RE1 scenario, the poster notes:

When Chris and Jill arrive in the lab with the Tyrant, Wesker is hiding behind the tubes and we see him injecting himself with a mystery virus. Although this has been noted before in one of the Reports, I think this is the first time it has been shown. The scene then carries on as normal, with Wesker emerging and trying to direct the Tyrant. The poster speculates that an unlockable file may reveal exactly what it was that he injected himself with.

not sure if this has already been said but on a uk website called www.play.com, which is a reliable site to trust. There stating that Resident Evil 5 is coming out on ps3 & xbox 360 on the 28/3/08. So this is pose to come out around Metal Gear Solid 4 and maybe Silent Hill 5. If this is true i'm shocked because i thought R.E 5 was still 2009 away. But the site might just be doing this to get preorders then come march, push back the date etc.
Just letting you know, if this is true Jap and USA would have the game a tad sooner.

R.E in space lol is a big no, i would hate that. i bought dino crisis 3 but never clocked it because i couldn't get into the thing. You don't think the prepear yourself is stating that they would be making the new aliens v.s predator game. Because the new AVP movies is coming out soon and they have a game on the psp, but maybe capcom are taking over the main console based game. That's it Capcom are going to lunch AVP i know it. :)

A couple of days ago I made a Japanese PSN account to get the new Gran Turismo demo (it's pretty cool)... I was surprised to see the amount of ps1 games available to download, including BIOHAZARD DIRECTOR'S CUT:D
I got the game several years ago after reading that it had additional scenes not present in the original RE or RE-DC. It was quite hard to track down and import from Japan at the time.
But now anyone can get it and play it on PS3 or PSP!
Despite owning the game already, I thought it would be nice to get it on my PS3 too. The only problem being that adding funds to a PSN wallet from another country seems to be an impossible task. Your credit card address has to match your account address and unfortunately I don't actually live at '666 Capcom st. Tokyo'. I then read about the PSN cards/tickets (only available for Japan and Hong Kong). They are pre-paid cards with a sequence of numbers on them you can use instead of a credit card. PlayAsia and other stores are sold out (yes, this has been a frustrating mission) but I just managed to get one from ebay. Now, I'm waiting for the dude to send me the code, once my paypal reaches him.
The original Dino Crisis is also available for PS3/PSP. All the ps1 games are 600 yen (less that $6).^_^

btw, I've now got 4 PSN accounts because of the annoyance of different stores having different content available.

I checked a few pages of the news archives but didn't see it mentioned (I guess I didn't look back far enough). I've only had my PS3 for a few months and my Japan account for a few days, so I was excited, anyway. (isn't that what's important?)
Oh well, maybe it will be news to someone else who hasn't set up a Japanese PSN account yet (it's also on the HK site).
I'm currently downloading more demos now, hence my browsing speed has slowed to a crawl... One thing about the Japan store, is that they list several things as videos. Some of these items are actually videos but some of them are playable demos. The only way to tell is by looking at the file size and guessing.
There's a game there called 'Imabikisou' (translated) by Chunsoft. The trailer is Crazy, Creepy, Cool!!! Apparently it's like a 'choose your own adventure' where you read text, make choices, then see video and hear scary sounds. There's a demo of it as well but at nearly 1gig it would take me about 12hours to download and because it's all in Japanese (I can't read Japanese) it's probably not worth it. Looks interesting though...
Edit: Now downloading Bio-DC. (Only 340mb)

BLSR1, regarding Bio-DC being in Japanese. The opening movie and all in game spoken dialogue is in English but the in game text is in Japanese. So, you can't read the files, letters and puzzle clues but if you've played the game before it's not really a problem. A couple of times I had to pull out a guide to remember the order in which to press switches ect. but it dosn't stop it from being very playable.

I agree. The Jill statue's face looks off. There is no other way to put it, its just uncannily similar but not the same. Her face seems way too pudgy from a frontal angle. The other figures did a better job of capturing her likeness. Chris' statue is better, but I think they exaggerated his features like his chin. I don't recall his face being that "chiseled," I always thought he looked like a regular guy.

What makes something HD is that it has more than 480 vertical scan lines, so in essence you just have two world exclusive. Thanks for ripping the trailers off of the Extinction DVD though.

Edit: BTW, I looked at the RE5 trailer sourced off the Extinction Blu-Ray and it is natively 720p. There is no 1080p trailer and the game will most likely never run in 1080p. Also, the source is full of blocks. Very disappointing.

Actually, she didn't name a year. I wouldn't be surprised if, when September and October this year roll around and nothing happens, people complain to her about her prediction, she'll just point out that she never said it would be September/October 2008. The same goes for her SFIV prediction.

I rather hope there are two storylines. Sadly that's not likely...but it'll give the game a more RE feeling (to me, at least) if you don't have MACHO MAN Chris Redfield and 'I'm a pitiful, useless, helpless woman' Sherry.

Surfer Girl simply isn't reliable enough to take as gospel. Apart from the date everything else she mentions could well be guess work. Hell...she mentions Wesker will likely be in the game, not will. If the game is six months from release they'd damn well better know what's happening already. If she has enough clout to get the release dates and characters, she must know if Wesker is in it.

She doesn't so she's guessing. Hell, she has a two month area listed as the release date. That's a pretty big window.
