View Full Version : What would you like to see in Silent Hill 6?

I think it's probably fair to say that the last two games have been the most disappointing of the bunch.
Specifically, what would you like to see in the next game? Whether it be a return to old-school Silent Hill style, a new system, whatever.
Personally, I'd really like to see it go in the direction of Resident Evil 1 and 2, with two possible playable characters, and to get the full story, you have to play both scenarios. Provided they were very different, I'd think that was quite neato. Even better if it were like in Resident Evil 2, with the A and B scenarios.
Also, I'd like some returning characters, though the story wouldn't have to be a direct sequel to previous games, but it would be nice to have it touch on them.
Lastly, I'd like a return to the more simple weapons and items systems of the previous games. None of that Origins or Homecoming crap. And speaking of Homecoming, when I dodge things and quite clearly avoid getting hit? I'd like NOT to take damage, thank you very much!

XD I'm sure that can be arranged somehow.
Do you mean as in start off in Silent Hill and go somewhere else? Because in four, you're in Ashfield, and in five your in Shepard's Glenn for a lot of the time.

Anything that's not frame for frame of the movie :P. I liked the new controls of SH5(without some glithches lol), but I think the story was a bit poor. I thought the ending was pretty much a rip off of SH 2where the main character spends the whole game trying to rescue their loved one and then it turns out that they're responsible for their death o_o I also think that a new SH should not try to force feed elements of the movie to fans of the game. Other than that, I think the creators really have everything at their disposal to make a great game. I mean, most of the games have little or no connection other than silent hill so whenever they make a title that sucks, they just move on to the next one without much of a problem, storyline wise. They have some of the greatest video game music ever, so, obvious win. They have some of the creepiest creature designs and WTF moments to keep people on their toes, and they also have Silent Hill, which is in my opinion one of the greatest settings ever. It's a silent hill game so anything could happen. I would like to see a more in-depth Silent Hill, a totally open town. I mean, every house/building open. I'm talking, Silent Hill on a GTA4 scale. If done right, that's all you really need is the town itself. Also, I think they should take a better advantage of pyramid head. Can you imagine him lifting you up in the air like the executioner in RE5? Awesome.

What would you think of a Nemesis element to Pyramid Head? Would you think it was cool, or what it annoy you if say, you spend too long in one place and he shows up to try and kill you? Because I can see a good and a bad side to that idea.

I would like to see a complete lack of Pyramid Head, unless they given an exceptionally good reason as to why he's there. Pyramid Head was supposed to be something of a one shot, but due to popularity now shows up regardless. And that's not cool. There are plenty of other twisted creations that could do his job.
I'd also like a game that takes place more in Silent Hill. 2, 4 and 5 all seem to move away from Silent Hill in various ways, and I'd like to head back there more. Although I do still need to grab 5 and the prequel.
Finally, no references to the movie. At all. Ever.
right now i'd actually like them to go through with a full remake of the first one, but an honest remake, no additional or retconned stuff.

I believe so, yes. I'm still trying to work out if the UK version has been cut and if so where can I buy the American version.

That's crap. I remember my friend playing the game and was like holy shit it's the big PH, and then you never see him again lol. Do you live in the U.K. ?

I think we need to have a follow up to 2.
The main character? Laura would be interesting. She returns to Silent hill after __ years to find out what really happened when she met James (she allegedly never saw any monsters remember). We learn more about how the town works as the world goes insane around her. But we should NOT have a pyramid head-like creature or sexy nurses.
Some cool features I would like to see are:
Randomized Graffiti - The messages in blood appear differently and in random places each play through.
Level detail Changes based on difficulty - The harder the difficulty, the more demented Dark Silent Hill is. The harder the puzzle difficulty, the darker dark silent hill is (your flashlight won't show as much and items will be harder to see.
Your radio's detection distance lowers based on difficulty.
The return of puzzle heavy exploration.
A randomized mode - When unlocked, you have the option make. Enemies, Items, ammo, and Weapon location is randomized. You may be stuck with a knife for the first half of the game
I want the camera to return to how it was in 3, but I want some improvements to keep it up to date.

I'd like a return to original Pyramid Head, and only if the game is relating itself to 2 for some reason. I'm afraid of original Pyramid Head, but then he showed up twice in 5. He slices your dad in half length-ways for no reason at all... Like there is no justifiable reason for him to be there. Plus he looks like the movie version.
The nurses should really be like the Silent Hill 2 Nurses. They were creepy, but not boobie... Ick.

Can you remind me of the differences between the original and movie versions? And yes, I agree about the nurses. As much as I like boobs, I think the silent hill 2 nurses were much scarier.

I think it's mostly a different shaped helmet, they made it pointy... Which I think just looks wrong. It's not really the way he looks, but his actions. In the movie and in 5, he just shows up to kill people, but in 2 his being there plays a bigger and much more terrifying role. Plus there's the whole 'rape' argument, whether he does violate his victims or not. In 2, it was kept ambiguous, but they don't even include it as an element in his character in the movie or in 5. Not that I’m into it or anything, but it certainly makes me want to RUN.THE FUCK. AWAY. Which is pretty much what I think the Silent Hill series should make you want to do.

Pyramid Head did have a reason to kill him, but it wasn't really explained.
They treated Alex like shit, so PH killed his Dad, and maybe he was the one to put the Mum in that death trap. Hence why hes never after Alex.
But that was the only reason PH was in SH:H, which is pretty, stupid.
Either way, I'd like to see something closer to SH1.
The otherworld in that one has stayed reminiscent to me since I was 5.
Do want another, such good memories.
I also prefer the original battle system.

I would like a Silent Hill game like SH2, a totally side story, with no intentions to explaine ANYTHING about what hapened in Silent Hill to cause it to be like that

They said something in one of the games about Pyramid Head being the town's punisher/executioner. I think it was that painting in the Historical Society in SH2, so that could explain his existence in Homecoming.
Or maybe I'm just trying to rationalize. :rollseyes
But yeah. In SH6, I want the dark otherworld of SH2. It's almost subtle about how things have changed, and it looks like everything is dark and damp, like it was underwater for a long time. But you get to thinking "Wait, if this has changed... then what else?" and you get a little paranoid. I personally think it's more effective than the obvious rape-dungeon-hell alternate Silent Hill.
Returning characters ? (not in the Harry Mason sense of the word).

Another female main character.....
Out of the 6 silent hill games that have come out, only 1 had a female main character.
1,2,4,origins, and 5 all had a male lead. Lets see some crazy story in Silent Hill deal with a chick.
And something I wouldn't want to see, is the return of The Order and the story lines where the MC forgets that he/she killed someone and goes looking for them in SH. I'm sure there are other things that can bring a character to that damn town.

I've only ever played Silent Hill 2, and I'm not very far in it, either. So I'm not familiar with any of the characters, or the plot for the most part.

I've had an idea that would bring the main character to SH. Bank Robbers! The MC and his crew just got done with a Armed Robbery spree a few states over so they ride into SH on fumes, then figure out something's not right so they split up, chaos ensues. :P

definitely not the 10-Star ranking system. i'm so glad they eliminated it in 0rigins and Homecoming.

You should spend one night going through it, it's actually not that long. Two things though:
1. Play in the dark. Alone.
2. Don't sleep that night.
I remember doing that the first time through SH2... I couldn't sleep. And on the second night, I only slept because of pure fatigue from not sleeping. :'( Or maybe I'm just a wuss. Either way, be prepared. It's a thrill ride.

i'd like to see more of an actual Silent Hill feel, after SH3 (which I think is the best one) it seems to have gone really downhill. They're just not that creepy anymore

I know what i don't want to see and that's Pyramid Head, the nurses could do with a break as well. Some originality in the design of everything would be nice too.

I'd probably say after 4 myself, just because I found it to be quite a disturbing game, though it certainly did feel different from the rest of them.

The one thing that I want to see in Silent Hill 6 is in the title sequence, "Team Silent presents........"
Then I know that it'll be good. Else Konami should just leave Silent Hill in limbo till some one magically has a decent idea for a sequel.
Order of my preferences Goes 2, 1, 3 (closely to 1), Origins (I just enjoyed it more and played it more than 4, maybe it reminded me a lot of 1 ), 4, then 5.

true, after the original team left the series hasnt been the same, it seemed more like they were trying hard to make a Silent Hill type game, but not an actual SH game itself.

If I'm honest I don't think new people should work on Silent Hill. This is simply because they seem to get stuck on what has gone before and worked rather than trying to push new ground, for example 1 was about finding your adopted daughter where as 2 was about your dead wife (as well as many different things involving that), 3 was kind of the reverse of 1 and 4 was just different to all 3. Origins is too much 1 and 2 bundled together and 5 is just elements of the first 3 + the movie. it feels that Climax and Double Helix have not tried to move the story/elements on.

If anybody new is to work on Silent Hill, I'd at least like it to be people who have worked on games like Forbidden Siren or Fatal Frame and I'd definitely like for them to be able to at least discuss their plans and progress with a few of the orginal key development staff, as it is unlikely all of them will decide to return to the series.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised. But if it was on the earlier ones, it might a good thing if they decided to help out on the next one... Provided their standards haven't slipped XD Has anybody played the most recent Siren game? If so, what's your opinion?

One of the better horror games of the last few years, but it's actually inferior, in my opinion, to the origional on which it was based. It's easier and, I found, less terrifying, and the story has been dumbed down a fair bit. Of course before it was so hard it would make a rock cry and the story was enough to melt a lesser man's mind, but that was how I liked it.

Sooo, more like good dumb fun? XD I guess that's not so bad, considering... Not something I'd like applied to Silent Hill. The only time that should come in is when you finish the game and unlock stuff like the Princess Heart costume and the Beam Sabre.

Well, I should qualify this statement by pointing out it's dumbed down compared to the original, and many of the characters are integrated into one. The story is a fair bit different and a lot simpler to follow, I found. The original made Silent Hill seem pretty easy to understand. This one just gives you a mild headache while you follow the links.
