Does anyone else here think that Harry's death in SH3 was one of the bullest thing's ever?! I mean, we finally get to see Harry again and bam, he's already dead. He made it through all that nightmarish shit in SH just to be killed by some goofy freak. I also thought it was interesting that, Harry had been wearing the same clothes for years lol
maybe harry knew his time was coming, and he dressed appropriately for old times sake ..

I think it was ok, harrys story had already been told, he was prepared for death; and silent hill characters aren't about survival, they just hapen to get alive from the town, but they're normal people (except Alex the soldier).

Survival isn't a strong theme among SH characters. It's not like the RE series when the only objective is to survive and escape the city/mansion/lab/base alive, there's usually something more personal involved than that.
James from SH2 is supposed to have canonically died as proven in SH4, when Henry mentions that the son and daughter in law of "Superintenden Sunderland" supposedly went missing in Silent Hill a few years previously. I guess that means the In Water ending was the canon one, which is fair enough because it sure felt the most appropriate to the tone of the game.

I don't think anyone really escapes Silent Hill. You may make it out somehow, but the town will eventually get you. The town got Harry, the town got James, it may have got Cybil. Douglas and Heather may not live long.

That could be debatable. One could say that after realizing what he did, he never wanted to return to his father in law and made a new life with that little girl.
as debatable as it may be, the in-water ending in SH2 makes the most sense based on the plot and events that unfold near the ending. Personally, I feel that it is the canon ending.

I still hold the belief that the 'dead' Harry is like all those James's you find around SH2. Grabbed his old trusty fire hammer, beat off the first wave of mercenaries, left to look for heather then she arrived to find the fake.
It pissed me off that to further the plot they killed Harry off, and off screen too. He killed a god, a sodden god, some punkass excuse for a monster shouldn't have had a chance.

It is odd, but then again, he didn't have his weapons...
Godamnit, how dare they kill off someone mightier than a God.
Seriously, though, I was like OMGWTF when I played SH3.
But thats the point of Silent Hill...to devour those who enter, Harry was just taken far later.

Even Chuck Norris could be killed if he was caught asleep in front of the TV. If Chuck Norris ever slept.

HAHA...Indeed. yea sad times, but I suppose it had to be done to keep the SH vibe.

Well to me, the canon endings are the ufo endings anyway, so if you look at it that way then Harry is still alive and kicking. ; D

the TV would have fallen asleep long before Chuck Norris would even blink.

As for Dot thinking it could be the ending with the "new life"....
Wasn't Laura "not real" anyway? I know she knew Mary during her stay at hospital, but I was under the impression that Laura was just a manifestation created to lead James along the right way and see things that James didn't about Mary. Or something along those lines

No, I'd say you're on the right track with that one. There are enough hints in the game to support this, and I personally believe that too. ^_^

But what RandomWab stated in the other topic, Laura knew Eddie, which would be impossible if she was manifested from James.
Lets not turn this into another Laura topic, way too deep. xD
