Do you think Capcom will finally release a Dino Crisis 4? This time fixing all the problems with the camera and what not.

There were strong rumors from the usual suspects circa E3 2004 that they were developing it on the PS2, but it never materialized. I'd like to say that they'll give it another go, but I don't see it happening. Even the most crtically acclaimed game in the series (DC2) didn't even sell that well worldwide, and we all know how DC3 ended up.
It's too bad, because DC2 was a precursor in some elements to Capcom's best sellers this generation, including Onimusha and DMC. The reward/weapon upgrade system to be exact.

I think the reward/weapon upgrade system added a lot of fun into the game. DC2 was fun to play but i think the first one was more scary. The first one had this dark atmosphere rather then the second taking place during the day time. I mean yeah the whole dinos after you was scary but when a game takes place at night i think it sets the mood.

There was also the fact throughout the entire first game, you never really had more than a clip of ammo to carry around with you.

Dino Crisis 2 was great, I remember Ice and I started playing it when he came over for the week. We managed to get to the last area but his mother pulled him away as it was time to go back to NY..ah good times :D

I'll probably buy DC3 whenever I buy and XBOX360. I just love any game with fixed cameras.

they should just re-do something like DC1, that game kicks major ass and with some nice next-gen magic, it could be one hell of an experience.
Or evt. they should spend the next-gen magic on making things large scale like a certain disaster game!
(Yes, that's you SOS - Final Escape/Disaster Report/Zettai Zetsumei Toshi that I'm looking at)

The only reason y i didnt like DC3 was the game was very confusing and frustrating. The camera system deff needs some work in that game

I would love to see another Dino Crisis game, with or without the crappy camera angles. I don't know if Capcom will ever do a real sequel to the second game, but I thought Dino Crisis was suppost to be one of their biggest franchises. I guess I was wrong. :(
Anyway, I did read some rumours about a fourth game not too long ago after I performed a random search on Google. Although people can lie, I have reason to believe that we will hear some news about it during 2008 or shortly afterwards.
I'm currently trying to complete Dino Crisis 3 for the first time on my Xbox. The game is fairly entertaining, but it is not the best game ever made. Those squirmy Rigel can be a nuisance if I'm not near a shop (save point) but I find the whole space concept a little zany, actually.
I'm trying to build a site about the series, as a personal challenge. Since I am universally hated, it would not be a good idea to link to the site from here. But I can promise to keep you updated on the progress. :)

Has any new information been announced? I haven't heard anything about a 4th being made, but I sure liked it if Regina would return or even if they remade DC1 like RER and made it alittle longer... That'd satisfy me :)

I don't think so..After the disaster that was 3 I'm not sure how they could approach it. I'd still like to see one that was more in the vein of 1 or 2 on the spiffy Framework Engine though.

3 sucked because they tried to take horror to space. Haven't the developers seen Jason X? I guess they tried to make it like Aliens, except failed... Horribly.

DMC2 was a disaster Dot, and they fixed that rather nicely. But DC was never a big money maker, so the franchise is pretty much dead.

DMC franchise was still "fresh" when DMC2 came out and got somewhat slammed, still a chance to "recover" from that.
Dino Crisis was on its 4th title when it got removed from the cash cow-barn for producing nothing but sour milk.
Namco did bring back Regina with their game Namco X Capcom, though.
So I guess she's not completely forgotten. Ask some Capcom representative and you'll probably receive the amazing template answer; "We're always looking into it and considering the possibilities of making another Dino Crisis, but right now we have nothing to announce"

I'm sure we'll see a new Dino Crisis sooner or later. I loverd the first too so much! And the DC2 ending left place for a good DC follow up. If new gen Turok will make money Capcom might consider a DC game...Turok 2 kind of sucked and was left for "dead" for some time...kinda like DC...

They better not make it a FPS... Dino Stalker was horrible.

RE4 Gameplay + Dinosaurs + Regina + DC1 = Problem solved

That'd be awesome for the T-Rex fights... Or the Raptor chases...

Interestingly enough, I personally believe that DC2 was a pre-cursor to Capcom's action games. Particularly DMC and later on RE4. Action based, with weapon upgrades and very few puzzles. DC1 was Biohazard with dinosaurs and the birth of the QTE system.
Hell, put a back camera view in DC2 and you've got RE4 with dinosaurs. It's widely accepted that DC2 had to be the most underrated/overlooked title of the PS1 era. It really was a great game that ended up a casualty of the PS2 launch.
But again, the series was not a cash cow. The first game did well in Japan but never went platinum, and it failed in the west. DC2 didn't sell that well and DC3 flat out bombed. DMC1 sold through more than 2 million, and still is Capcom's best selling last generation game. DMC2 did fairly well despite its quality.
People often mistake Dino Stalker as an official entry, when it really was a mere Gun Survivor game.
Of course it's Capcom, so they naturally won't shoot down a possibility of a sequel. All things considered, I think it's highly unlikely.

But it still carried the DC label in Japan.
But seriously, DC1 should get some RE4/REmake/Wii treatment.
Getting such a project rolling now could be a clever idea, especially since a new Jurassic Park is being tossed around for release 2008/2009.
The whole chemical system the first DC introduced was just too awesome, and would be excellent to bring back.

DC3 has pretty much killed the series.

Never got the chance to play DC3, but after reeading everything everyone has to say about it, I don't feel bad about it.... what's the story anyway? How did the dinos ended up in space?

If anything, DC3 seemed out of place...Dino Stalker at least had more ties in the story of the DC series, DC3 shouldnt have even been a sequel in the series...I have DC1, DC2, and Dino Stalker, never will I own DC3...its a joke.

Same situation here, I never had an original Xbox (does it play on 360?). Can anyone give a brief overview of how we got Dino's in space?

It has nothing to do with the previous games. Unfortunately, the dinosaurs in the game were not dinosaurs themselves but mutations that arose from Dinosaur DNA. The game made a point to make that evident.
Still it was terrible.

Having played both Resident Evil Outbreak and Dino Crisis 1 yesterday, i'm pretty sure Outbreak had some connection to Dino Crisis. Outbreak had the same door loading as DC (where the camera snaps to behind the player and watches them as they go through a door), it had the walk and aim, it had a sub-weapon style class for each character like Dino Crisis 2, and it was made by the same team who went on to make Monster Hunter, a game with alot of dinosaurs.
Maybe i'm clutching at straws here but I don't know, I think that the games may be connected.
But god, Dino Crisis 2 was one of the best PSX games, pity it got killed due to it's release and somewhat lack of hype. The game had fantastic graphics and fast gameplay that wasn't really done again until a few years after.
I'd be all up for a Dino Crisis 4 if they made it. The jungle multiplayer level in Lost Planet shows me that it could be done.

Since Capcom is jumping on the remake/port band wagon, again with Dead Rising being ported to the Wii, and all, I think it would be good time to reintroduce a remake of Dino Crisis 1. It's an already solid game with great survival horror themes, if it got a graphics boost it could be the best version yet.
On an other note, aside from being a PC in a box, is there any other reason DC3 came out exclusively for the X-Box?

hmm i agree, a dino crisis remake could be a really good idea. If it went down the same route as the resident evil remake it could be really awesome.
I can picture in my mind now how amazing the T Rex fight could look, especially that ending where he chases the boat at the end.
The attack scenes could be turned into quick time events instead of having to bash all the buttons furiously.

Im down with that, DC4 would be better if Cannon which included Paula, Dylan, Regina, and maybe a few new characters as support roles. I would love to see the arcade style of the game like DC2 and the horror of DC1 w/ a little bit of first person shoot outs like in Dino Stalker and DC2 (Boat machine guns) especially with a dark atmoshopere as DC1 with new updated graphics that would be right next to the next gen standards and retained playability. It would also IMO have to have all new weapons w/ some old ones, maybe a Resident Evil 4 style game w/ auto aim and walk and shoot still in it. Destroyable enviornments, expolsive fuel cans, tons of dino gore and new Dinosaurs including old ones as well, none of this DC3 BS... then it would be perfect, especially if Regina had bigger ( . Y . ) :D

Luka from Lost Planet had some nice ballistics... I wouldn't mind Regina's model taking after Luka.

I think it was because Resident Evil, Onimusha and Devil May Cry series were on PS2 and they felt Xbox needed its own series. I'm glad I never played DC 3 because I heard it was horrible.

I own all of the DC games, DC1, DC2, Dino Stalker, and DC3. DC4, if there ever is one, I'd personally hope it wouldn't be that crap DC3 was. Seriously now, mutated dinosaurs in space, ridiculous. A remake however of the first game I'd definitely buy, I can just imagine how the raptors and the rex would look in remake like graphics. Especially Regina! :D

I heard MicroSoft payed Capcom for Xbox excluaive.
Nevertheless, I can't expect a remake, Resident Evil has a bigger fanbase than Dino Crisis, and correct me if I'm wrong, but REmake was for 5th Anniversary, right?

Code Veronica X and Wesker's report was for the 5th anniversary.
Biohazard (remake) was released in Japan on March 22nd 2002, and the original was released on March 22nd 1996, so it was 6 years later.

Oh, pardon me on that; a remake is probably neccersary to bring the series back to life then, I have faith in it If Capcom start a project for a remake.
Or a completely new sequel with the RE4 engine, that engine would work well with fast games, it could be Capcoms big break.
