Story mode was fucking awesome! I like how near the end after all the failures Liu Kang actually gave up on Raiden and his visions

I can't wait till the next MK but we got years to go!

I'm on challenge tower right now, I'm on challenge 21 but I'm taking a 45 minute break. I'll do the ladder when I reach about challenge 50 or so.

I knew you would like that LOL. The only part I actually didn't like was when Sindel practically kills everyone by herself... However I loved when Nightwolf sacrifices himself to destroy Sindel. That part I was like "WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED!" because everyone was dead!!!
And then Liu Kang turning on Raiden... And him killing Liu Kang to avoid the fight Shao Kahn was epic. Keeps me wonder what will happen for the MK4 Alternate universe storyline? Since you know, Shinnok was all badass at the end.

Wow, the IGN review of the new MK game is filled with fail, its a complete half assed review that actually makes no sense.

All the MK forums are up in arms over it, not just because it gives the game a low score, but because its really felt like the guy who played the game didnt give it much of a chance.

He did however spend time bitching about how hard the bosses were, which is redundant because the Boss battles are SUPPOSED to be hard.

Course his review really doesn't make any real sense either if you analyze it.

IGN will go ahead and give RE5 like a 9.5, when it was a turd of a game, but are giving this new MK game an 8.0, because its an MK game.

Weirdest part of his review is that he gives the games graphics like a 7.5, which anyone who has eyes can clearly see how much detail was put into everything.

Oh well, fail reviewer is fail.

It would really be kinda dubm to bring back characters AGAIN, like Zombie Liu Kang, etc. Interesting that Scorpian and Noob Saibot survived. Wonder if Noob will take up Sub-Zero again. Boy, Liu Kang certainly can't catch a break. Dies in Deadly Alliance, only to come back as a zombie, then dies again by Raiden's hands, thinking he could save Earthrealm. But, I'm glad to see that Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Sonya survived. Wished Jax had too.

Also, any else here beat Shao Khan by constantly telelporting and sweep kicking with Raiden? That seemed like the only way to actually beat him. Cheap, but jesus christ, that version of Shao Khan's a fucking faggot.

Been playing it for a few hours and I can say it's the best fighting game I've played in a long time. I haven't even gotten into story mode yet.....I'm having so much fun with the gameplay itself. Online is pretty impressive as well. The amount of effort put into this game is beautiful. :D

I thought Noob died in the soulnado... Anyway, I'm thinking that the one that could take Sub-Zero's place would be Frost, which is the next thing as a female Subby Wubby LOL. I can see Kenshi taking the lead role, there are lots of characters left from the rest of the series, Shujinko also is there... Who knows, we'll have to wait til MK10 -.-

Only thing I'm disappointed in now is that Mileenas Klassic fatality is the last fatality out there, and ya know it hasnt been found yet.

Though people seem to be having luck with Brutality hunting.
Some guys have managed to find a 4 hit combo for Cyrax while in fatality training.

Being that the fatality sequence ends when you hit the opponent, this discovery does mean something.

Here's hoping.

Its not. I just passed it 10 minutes ago. All you need to do is (you play as Stryker btw) back away and spam his pistol and every time he throws his mallet jump over it and dash in and upper cut him. It took about a hour but fuck it feels good to kick 3 Shao Kahn asses.

Got in a King of the Hill lobby the other night and went on a 7 match win streak before someone used Raiden and spammed his teleport, kick kick HOODABADAYADAYYYYYYY combo and beat me in the 3rd round. I've been maining Johnny Cage, he's the one I definitely feel most comfortable with.

No surprises online, people using the "OP" characters such as Smoke, Noob and Raiden. Scorpion is also a favorite but easily defended.

Those classic costumes were only available to those who pre-ordered the game from certain stores. Classic Jade is on the Blu-ray of Mortal Kombat 1 & 2 for PS3. All of them will probably become DLC later though.

Thanks for the info Nem. I finally finished the story mode last night...kinda left me wanting more. Worked a little more on the tower and unlocking more stuff from the krypt. I see this game occupying quite a bit of my time over the next couple of months.

I abandoned this series long ago and here I am a fucking slave to it again. By and FAR my favourite fighting this gen. The amount of fun I've had these last few days is nothing short of unreal. It feels fresh, flows amazingly and is simply, utterly fun to play. Though the bosses are cheap, they are nothing like the level of cheap Capcom deploy for their final bosses, and on top of it all, shit loads of content for single players (extremely useful since PSN has been down all weekend).

My only single gripe is they didn't go far enough with the story mode, i'd of loved it if Cyrax had stayed human as per they hinted, for example.

That and i've not been able to redeem any of my pre-order characters :'( Thanks to PSN being down.

On that subject I know Jade, Mileena, Kitana, Scorp, Sub and Rep were all in the retro costume pre-order deal, but i'm also hearing stories of classic Ermac? How true is that does anyone know?

Klassic Raiden would have been pretty cool. Same goes for Cage.

But yea what Agent said. The Retro Ermac is in the Kollectors and Tournament Editions. Its a MK1 outfit which he looks completely awesome. Hopefully somewhere down the line they will release a MK3 outfit pack because those are my favorite outfits.

Hopefully PSN won't be down for too much longer because a friend of mine might give me his Mileena code if I can get my friend to get me another MK1 Scorpion since I'm friend with the guys up there.

That can be him having his judgement clouded by the visions. He didn't knew exactly what he was supposed to do... I agree that he had PLENTY of time to save Sub-Zero though, maybe he didn't want to act in front of Shao Kahn since that would be against Mortal Kombat rules?
I can't say I hate him because he killed Liu Kang and that made me a happy man.
I believe some guys can actually come back from the dead... Raiden was infact pretty dumb in the story. As you said he was doing a lot of things for the greater good but he could have had better judgement on a lot things to prevent them from happening.

Since some characters have x-rays where skulls are smashed, eyes gouged out, necks broken, arteries torn......and then here comes Sindel killing Stryker with one punch and Jax with one kick. It was bad......they could have at least been a little more creative. The only death I thought was justified was Nightwolf.


That can be him having his judgement clouded by the visions. He didn't knew exactly what he was supposed to do... I agree that he had PLENTY of time to save Sub-Zero though, maybe he didn't want to act in front of Shao Kahn since that would be against Mortal Kombat rules?
I can't say I hate him because he killed Liu Kang and that made me a happy man.
I believe some guys can actually come back from the dead... I'm pretty sure that's what will happen. All the dead characters will come back regardless. Still I think it shouldn't have ended the way it did.

What my main problem with Raiden was that he was willing to let other characters either die or have their fate changed......just so his amulet would stop shattering. I'm pretty sure he wanted Kitana to be executed and he wanted Sub-zero to be a cyborg. Gambling the lives of others was just wrong of him.

Jax should have died from shock when Ermac dismembered both his arms, yet he didn't. It's Mortal Kombat. Getting kicked in the throat with a heel is nothing. Baraka's x-ray should be a one hit KO if that's the case.

Well, I caved and bought the game. Just beat arcade with Reptile, which was difficult enough for me on medium. Talk about nostalgia difficulties. I plan on getting all of the endings, but right now I'm focusing on the challenge tower, and I'm at 78 or 79 or something. I'm sure they'll get hard enough for me to tap out soon, but with a few exceptions its been alright. Plus my friend (gamestop employee) gave me a klassic Scorpion code, sweet!

Try to do it as quick as possible. Just focus on killing the big guy and make sure you hit him with six; any mooks that get hit/killed while you try to best the big man are only collateral damage.

Quick question, if end up losing the first round, or flawless the first round, get hit in the second and lose, but then go on to the third round and flawless again will that still count?

I know on the older games you could do this, so long as two of the three rounds were flawless then a fatality finish it would still work.

Ok heres a way around getting fucked over with Shang Tsung.

Say he hits you so you can't get the FV you need. Finish the match(s)( you can't lose a single round) and when you see "Finish him" press start and go to player select. This way you still won the matches but it doesn't count as a loss.

I'm not gonna lie, when I saw it back in 97, I thought it was the shit. The music, the fight scenes.....it was kool. Of course I was about 8 or 9 years old. Regardless of that I think the special effects were pretty decent for the time.

As for the plot, well that's another story. Like I said, most kids aren't really gonna care for that, just as long as there's plenty of action and fighting, which was the case with me. Now of course I can see how horrible the script and writing was, but back then it was like a masterpiece, lol.

For the record I was not complaining about Sindel infused with super powers killing off a bunch of characters. I was complaining about how some characters went about being killed off. Stryker being punched in the face and Jax getting kicked with a high heel were ridiculous ways for them to be killed off. I'm not the only one that had a problem with that.

and to top it off, MK films =/= MK games. It's the same thing as the RE series.
