in fact, i could of chosen not to buy it, but i didn't, did i.. Uncharted 2 in MY eyes, isn't all that to be claimed to be. MGS4 to ME is a better game than it, and it always will be, because that's how "I" see it. there is no official system of awards, because all awards are all choices made by people. people choose what gets nominated, and what doesn't, but that doesn't everyone agrees with the choices. those choices are just another man's opinion on what should be worthy. anything can be worthy, if you consider it to be. a game doesn't have to score well into the 90s to be considered a great game . even a shitty, horrible, boring, unexcited, paid-off exclusive can get 90s, but that doesn't mean it deserves it.
there IS no official GOTY. GOTY are like Academy Awards or Golden Globes. films don't have to be nominated to be considered great. they can be great on their own without nominations OR wins. you think it would have matter so much if The Dark Knight won the "Best Picture" award, which is equivalent to GOTY? again. awards don't mean shit. awards don't make a game great, they don't films great, and they sure as hell don't make books great. its personal choice. you think Uncharted 2 is worth being GOTY to you? then great, so be it. that's your choice. to that doesn't mean i have to agree with it. if i wanted to, if BioShock 2 still came out in 2009, that would have been MY choice for GOTY regardless of how it turned out. Why? because it would have been the only choice that mattered to me. Uncharted 2 doesn't have to matter at all.
Now you're not making any sense. You started this shit by saying that Bioshock 2 would have overshadowed Uncharted 2 & all other 2009 GOTY contenders if it had come out in 2009. Basically saying that it (even though you hadn't played it at the time) should be a GOTY award winner. You made your statement matter of factly, without validating it as your opinion. Now your argument is "GOTY only matters in the eyes of the beholder." That's fine if YOU believe Bioshock 2 is your own personal GOTY. My argument is that it is not GOTY, nor will it ever be the "official" GOTY. The critics (you know, the ones whose opinions matter on the official GOTY voting) see Bioshock 2 as being inferior to the original, with a "tacked on" MP component. That kind of criticism isn't likely going to place Bioshock 2 as even a contender for 2010 GOTY. As I said, the year is still young and Bioshock 2 isn't even in the same breath as other early titles Bayonetta and Mass Effect 2.
and yet, again. they're critics. try asking that to gamers. because yeah, just because the critics praise it, doesn't mean all gamers do. in fact, i love reading how much they hate that so much has changed in Mass Effect 2, and they prefer the original one, calling the 2nd one less of an RPG than the first. on the other hand, Bayonetta gets the same treatment. just because the game rates high doesn't mean anything....at all. just because RE4 garnished multiple awards and high reviews doesn't mean it pleased everyone who has played it. THIS you should already know. again, you fail to get the point. critics don't matter. only one's self opinion does. just because the game doesn't average in the 90s, doesn't mean shit. BioShock 2 could be GOTY in any one's eyes, if he or she wants it to be, whether you agree or don't. reviews don't matter. awards don't matter. only yourself matters. no one is gonna tell you not to play it, you have the choice and the power to decide what's best for you.
Just how dense are you? What the hell does a 10 year old PC game have to do with anything? The competition in 2010 for a game far outweighs the competition (and overall quality of competition) of games from a decade ago. Bioshock 2, so far, while received positively, isn't even a front-runner for GOTY just in Q1 of 2010. Most critics (the ones who weigh in on the GOTY prize) have lavished their highest praise on Bayonetta and Mass Effect 2. Bioshock 2 would not have won last year, nor will it win this year. If you're still keeping score, that's twice your logic has failed. Congrats.
reviews are only one's own opinion stupid. Diablo II averaged an 88, yet it still garnished GOTY. you = fail.
