What I'm trying to say is that Duke Nukem is being what it's supposed to be, and people are reacting hard because they were expecting a superb narrative masterpiece like Bioshock... You get to see tits, blow things up, spit one liners. There are things I don't like, for example having only two weapons: WTF is that crap, Duke's about being a badass having an arsenal and using it to obliterate aliens!

It's not perfect, but it's not as bad as the critics are making it. My guess is that they we're expecting something greater due to the development hell that plagued this game.
Like I said, people who are expecting more of the same old tits and misogyny and over-the-top ridiculous Hollywood shit that would please the 13-year-old boy in all of us will probably enjoy the game. Anyone who comes into this expecting a well-played FPS are going to be disappointed.

I still stand by my initial impressions that the game will get a drastic price drop within a month, if not shorter.

Yeah, let's not subtly hint that we download games, because then I have to ban you. Dot tells me to. The broken leg will only keep him out for so long.

Haven't played this one yet, I didn't really expect it to be a real game.. the whole forever thing was like some weird marketing ploy. Duke 64 was good though with its 4 player split screen mode that didn't quite rival Goldeneye but certainly had its moments.. We built a cardboard template for the TV so we couldn't see each other's screens, when that was stuck on the TV, you knew it was time to get serious..

Ahhh fuck the critics, they are missing the point. Duke Nukem is just what it's supposed to be. A manly straight up shooter. It's not Bioshock or Singularity. I feel like I'm playing an HD version of Duke 3D and that's what I was expecting: Smack some alien bitches and throwing oneliners. It's not outdated, IT'S OLDSCHOOL.

I think today when we are more aware of how games actually reflect the community to the rest of the world, it isn’t difficult to believe that games such as Duke Nukem has other people looking at it and thinking “well, if this is the kind of stuff they enjoy, they’re less evolved than we thought.” There isn’t a big chance gaming will ever be taken seriously by those outside the community, but those of us holding wistfully onto that dream probably feel as if these kinds of things are holding us back.

With that in mind, I think IGN's review said it best:

Duke Nukem is an icon of mid-1990s video game culture – brash, vulgar and committed to the art of the one-liner, like a twelve-year old boy with internet access. His association with Duke Nukem Forever's extended development cycle has propelled him to legendary status, attaching to him an undeserved significance.

If you enjoy the game, more power to you, I'm not trying to impede on your fun...I just hope people don't regret the purchase.

    wait...i PaY for my games?

i think its basically waht you want from duke btu never expect form a new age FPS. its the old school argument of realism Vs having fun. and thats what this game is. I'm not always popping behind cover, waiting fro my health to refill, then popping a few rounds off. im mowing the bastards down, punching one in the face then i break the other ones neck.
