This is probably the most emotionally confusing film I've ever seen. So many "huhs" and "YEAHS" happening that I'm still trying to digest what I saw; reading reviews (especially those that also talk about the first two) seem to be helping a bit but I have no idea rather it's better then TDK or maybe there were some directions Nolan shouldn't have gone despite not being inherently bad. I have no idea rather it was the later or my brain seems to enjoy certain conditions even if the director was making the movie for himself and that what I'm feeling is a flaw in my anticipation of what to expect in a film or the direction of a series. Then again, if you were to look at it from a "good-enough" perspective, holy hell it beats practically every other 3rd super-hero film in the past decade by 4 miles long.

    What more can you say?

It was beautiful from start to finish. I honestly think this is the only trilogy where in my opinion, each entry was consistently better than the last, which is saying something when the first movie was great and the second was amazing.

All I know is that I feel sorry for the next guy who tries to tackle the batman movies; Nolan's trilogy will be extemely hard to top.

The irony of that statement is as a stand alone TDKR is the most "comic booky" of the Nolan films, mostly due to the scale and escalation put forth by Bane.

But how could you hate it on those terms when it's tone is consistant to the two films before it. You know the type of film you're going to see, it's not going to include the type of quite extreme characters in it.

If WB reboots the concept again after this, it's quite a possiblity Knowles will get the film he wants, but I don't know if it'll be the Batman film that most people will want - especially after Nolan's work.

I'd much prefer WB keeps the current universe going, keeping Nolan and his wife as producers, and working outwards from it. To say more specific than that at this stage would be to spoil the film but I can say at least there are several possibilities should they choose not to reboot it over.

Harry Knowles from AICN hated the film and went on a weird rant about why someone who 'loves Batman' needs to take the reigns now and put out the comic world with Clayface, Solomon Grundy, Man Bat and all the weirdly fantastic elements from the comic series.

But being that this is the guy who loved Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Van Helsing, and so many other horrible films, thats not a bad sign.
One guy commented on how happy he is that Harry hated the film, because all the films Harry hates, he actually likes.

Cant wait to see the movie.

A couple of nights back went to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises back to back. And honestly was a great idea to so. All three films become one main story that just works so well when you view them as a whole.

Based on the history of the preceeding films to borrow at times from graphic novels in the Batman franchise, along with the trailers, rumors, and casting I was able to basically work out 100% of the plot in Rises before I went which got confirmed early in as I watched it unfold (through subtle and not so subtle foreshadowing in the film). But the ideas I had were like a best case scenario and the execution was so great that when it worked out to be as I expected it was just a generally great film. And so when combined with the other two it is an even and consistant trilogy, and thus likely one of the best film series' ever made.

13 minute Dark Knight Rises featurette. No real spoilers, mostly gets into explaining why they're making the film this way and a little summary about the story and characters.

They basically show you that this is a war movie, which is a first for a Batman film. We've seen large groups of armed thugs in the past but Nolan is going for Gotham fully imploding, Bans Army versus the Gotham PD.

Which is cool because this confirms that this film is inspired by the 'No Mans Land' and The Dark Knight Returns' graphic novels.
