Hippies weren't a belief, though, they were a trend. That's what we're talking about here.
And I guess that's the difference between a trend and a movement.
Let's say you got the hippies that protest against the government, and the military, they're a movement, because they're not just wasting space.
Same with the emo culture, yes, if your life is actually hard, and your single mother is a drug addict who sleeps with random men for her next hit of crack, I can see why you'd always be depressed, and want to cut on yourself to relieve your emotional pain. Etc.
But then there's the people who do it because it's a trend, just to fit in. Cut themselves for attention. When they live in a big, luxurious house with two parents who have great jobs and provide everything for their children.

Very much yes. From politicians to the very bands they made famous. We discussed the 60's Hippie culture in my History of Rock class...very interesting to see how they weren't so love and peace.

Yeah, but just because it's a fad, doesn't mean we have to embrace it. Hell, if I was living in the 1960's, and I was a classy businessman, working for an advertisement company, yes I'd ridicule the hell out of hippies.
Not so much wannabe bikers, since even if they wanna be, they might still be big guys and are able to beat the crap out of me. But then behind their backs.
Emo is a fad. And fads are stupid, period. Metal heads. Gangsta kids. If you're stuck in one genre of clothing, behavior, music, etc, and all you do is ridicule every other culture (if you will), then you deserve to be ridiculed.

The only reason Leon's hair, (or emo hair) is bad is because Emo is a trend, right now.
I mean, if leon had grillz on his teeth, or a marijuana belt clip, or carried a skateboard on his backpack, he'd get all kinds of ridicule, either way.

the emo hair is a thing of now if you cant grasp the fact that every generation is different than the one before then you really dont know anything about human phycology or esteem, or even think straight, you guys (the ones in their 30s) wore those stupid black leather jackets and looked like you were wannabe biker gangs
