I like how they did it though. When the credits rolled and it said "Jill Valentine - Sienna Guillory" I was like "What? I never saw her in the movie! Where was she?!" then the cameo played and I was like "...That's awesome."
I was thinking about this last night, but the more I think about it...the more it bugs me there wasn't more build up to the Jill cameo. Even a MENTION of her earlier in the film would have been better. With Alice documenting her days on video tape, we could have had her -while commenting that she hasn't seen anyone in however many days- questioning what became of Jill.
They made such a big issue out of the fact Alice had so many clones, and then vaporised them in the intro. Now, I never liked the clone army. I honestly thought it was cluster fuck of fail waiting to happen...and apparently Anderson agreed with me. But to create such a plot point and fail to exploit it for all it's worth is rather irritating.
Not seen it yet, but... Spoiler:
If I'd been involved, the whole clone thing would've been exploited to the point of having all clones murdered quickly, thanks to... who gives a damn? Then have an Alice tag around as part of the main cast for the majority of the movie, just to go all Shyamalan on it and reveal that the current Alice is probably about as much Alice as Ellen Ripley was Ellen Ripley in Alien: Resurrection, followed by having her redeemingly slaughtered off in some way near the end and never ever speak of the subject of whether or not the "real" one is still around or died with the rest of the useless clones.
^Closest you'll ever come to me putting any serious thought into this subject.

And no, I will never, ever be happy. I've not felt joy since my birthday was ruined by watching Apocolypse. I was actually looking foward to that one as well...mostly because I had no idea what it was about and thought it would mesh with the game plot as well as the first movie. Hence my hatred of Anderson. He has robbed my life of glee.
they kill off ALL the Alice clones at the start of the movie ?
jesus h lol
Spoiler:
Yup. From what we can see anyway, as there are no other Alice clones other than the very start. Alice's clones all attack the Umbrella HQ and destroy it and everyone in it, but Wesker manages to escape on a plane very reminiscent to the plane at the end of RE5, and sets off a 'purge' which completely destroys the facility, leaving a big hole where the facility, and city, used to be; taking all the Alice clones with it. We then see the real Alice (as evident by the hair, the clones all have a long dark ponytail, real Alice has a bob) is on Wesker's plane with him, and he injects her in the neck with something that he says is neutralizing all the T-cells in her body, thus she is losing her accelerated healing, super strength, and speed. He starts beating her up quite easily and is about to kill her, when he suddenly realises that the plane is heading for the side of a mountain and crashes.
XD - Obviousy deeming the film as the best this year was a joke. You pessimist are sickening. I completely agree with you Alexia, perhaps they dont know how to have fun. Some of you come off as so miserable, like you're going to die because of how bad the film sucks in your opinion.
I have no problem paying my hard-earned wages to watch these "smelly pieces of excrement" because I had a good time, I enjoyed the film and personally, I would like the film series to continue. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't want them to. The people in the cinema seemed to enjoy it when they came out as well. I think it's a bit silly for people to get annoyed because other people are funding further production of the RE movie franchise. I mean, I've not posted on here before about people who fund the continuation of films franchises like Saw, for example.
It's amazing to me how people can slander the film when they've not even watched it. I'm not so arrogant in my liking of the games that I simply cannot enjoy a film series VERY LOOSELY based on the games and that makes no attempt to copy the games plotline whatsoever, but merely takes names/some settings and enemies from it.
It was a good action film. It was entertaining. I'd suggest people actually go to see it first. I really don't understand all the hate the films get. The first two were entertaining, the third was boring as fuck, and this one was good too. They're action movies.
To me, you have to go into the movies not really expecting Resident Evil, but rather an interpretation that uses elements of Resident Evil. There will always be people who like and dislike something that expands on something already in existence. Some find it an improvement and some see it as degenerate filth. I've always seen myself in the middle ground when it comes to the movies; I do not love them whole-heartedly, but I do actually like them for the most part.
And I'll say again that these movies are an interpretation of Resident Evil. I don't think Anderson lacks understanding of the games, but to him this is what Resident Evil is: Zombies, virus, small group of survivors, Umbrella Corporation, et cetera. If the first game was replicated flawlessly into cinema though, some people would still have problems with it. "OMG! The mansion wallpaper wasn't that shade of white! It was clearly egg shell with specks of ivory."
My ultimate point to what I'm saying is make up your own mind about the movie. If you want to see it, see it. If you think it looks stupid, then don't see it; however, you cannot ridicule something that you have not seen. You have seen clips of it through trailers, but not the actual movie. It's sort of like saying you hate a food based on the color...You won't know unless you actually try it.
Anyway, I thought the movie was average. I didn't really go in with the highest of hopes, but I did like the various homages to Resident Evil 5 scattered about. I thought the Wesker fight could have been a bit better, and I'll agree that the ending was a bit weak.
I thought it was better than Extinction and Apocalypse. And I would recommend going to see it if you have the ability to SEPARATE the game series from the movies. If you hate all the others, then don't waste your time.
Where did I say anything that was personally offensive to anybody? I voiced my opinion by insulting the movies. The heart of the issue here is that you're notorious for getting butthurt whenever someone voices a negative opinion about them. We get it, you like the movies. I could care less if you like them or not, but the sheer amount of people who bitch about the movies yet still pump money into them is ridiculous. That's who I was talking about. Not you, the over-excited Milla Jovovich fanboy who everybody on the board knows loves the moves blindly.
The way I saw it, the way you said that (how it boggles you that we're spending money on this "piece of shit") is implying that we're stupid for shelling out money to see it. You can have a biting opinion of the movies for all I care, but alright, I see what you meant. Was just kinda put off by that at first, sorry. XP
And 5 Minutes, he is right. I do love Milla Jovovich as an actress and while I wouldn't say I blindly love the movies, I do love them.

Picture you're taking a shit. You squeeze out one big turd, and two smaller ones. You push harder and harder, and miraculously push out one more tiny turd nugget. How does that last piece of shit differentiate in any way from the first three? They're all smelly pieces of excrement, are they not?
Spoiler:
Translation: I hated the first three. Why would I feel any differently about the fourth?
So, in other words - a mere opinion about something you have yet to view.
