No announcement yet.

Does anyone still honestly think the Resident Evil PSP title will be released?

It'll either be released for the NGP or simply got canned, I think the later is more probable.

Who knows, without any concrete evidence, I'd rather not speculate. Its just up there now because it was officially announced as in development. Until we hear otherwise (or the PSP is considered "dead") I'll leave it up there

I think either canned or never got off of the planning stages, or shifted to NGP, much like Zero was from N64 to GC.

Obviously I know that, haha. I just wondered if you had a link or something showing Capcom announcing that, just so you weren't going by word of mouth or something, I dunno.

I think an NGP title would be interesting, even if it isn't in any way related to RE Portable, with it being the graphically superior handheld. I guess it depends on whether the NGP actually does better than the PSP did, because at this point I think the 3DS will reign over it just like the DS did to the PSP.

Perhaps they are saving it for the NGP?
Would be a wise move, I guess!

Similar to what happened to Zero back then...

Do you have a source for that information?

Did they? Somehow I doubt that. If nothing else I'd imagine Slant Six saw what the PSP version was like, got the design documents and the like. Assuming they weren't the ones developing it. I can't imagine elements weren't recycled into ORC, if only small things and the plot and gameplay are entirely seperate.

And yes, I tend to take everything Capcom claims with a huge pinch of salt. They're not exactly the most truthful company ever to exist.

It's been two years now and we have nothing. Usually that's a sign that something has been thrown into development hell.

In my own opinion I don't think it'll be released. : ) I have no objections to a PSP game, of course. It's just because Mercs3D, Revelations, Operation Raccoon City, and a tiny bit of info about what they aim to do with RE6 has been revealed. That's alot of releases, so I think that either:
    1.) It'll probebly be scrapped
2.) It'll be released at a way later date, or even moved onto a different platform (depends how well PSP is doing right now, I have no idea)

Bingo. All we really knew about RE portable (besides likely taking place in Raccoon City and being the first title in awhile to have zombies) was that the gameplay was "very different and not your average Resident Evil game", which I assume was ORC on a smaller scale. If so, I'm glad they decided to put it on a bigger platform where the multiplayer/team aspect can really be appreciated and the graphics are obviously better (plus I sold my PSP awhile back and I'm already pissed I have to buy a 3DS).

Honestly, I think the project has been cancelled. There hasn't been a single word about it since it was announced, especially now with the Resident Evil 15th Anniversary. I think it is something that they wanted to do exclusively for the PSP, but I think they waited too long to do it. The PSP is finished, and it didn't really hold up well against the DS. They may have placed the title on ice, and wait until the NGP takes off, but who really knows anymore. I do wish they would stop being dicks about it, and just let us know what's going on with it. It would be nice.

Who knows, if the project is still alive, it may now be being made for the NGP.
