I wonder how many of those copies were returned to the store though. Cause i just went up to my local gamestore and there are enough pre owned copies of RE5 to fill a whole section of shelf.
i attribute the high sales to hype and nothing else.

I'm suprised that they moved that many units in two months time. Maybe capcom will push to make RE 6 fast because of all the money they can make.

Microsoft splitting the market makes that achievement harder for any future capcom games to achieve. >_>

Its pretty sad for wii owners that RE5 wont be hitting their platform

Capcom ships 4.4 Million copies of Resident Evil 5
According to Capcom's Fiscal Year 2008 report released just moments ago, the combined shipment figure for Resident Evil 5 on the 360 and PS3 has hit 4.4 Million units. That makes it Capcom's third best selling "game" of all time as listed on the page below, ranking behind Street Fighter II and Resident Evil 2.
As far as the series is concerned, Resident Evil 5 becomes the fourth best selling Resident Evil game, behind Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil. Given Capcom's marketing push and the inevitable budget priced versions yet to come, as well as the PC release, Resident Evil 5 is looking to surpass Resident Evil 4 as the best selling game in the series to date.
Unlike past quarters, Resident Evil 4 sales didn't increase in 2009, but Umbrella Chronicles sales increased by about 50,000 after half a year without any movement. Its sales are now at 1.2 Million. It's also interesting to note that Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and Dead Rising have risen above Lost Planet on the listing; previously, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, depsite having the same total, had been below Lost Planet, indicating that RE4 Wii has pulled ahead even if marginally.
