RE4 to both. As it was said in this thread, it gave a new vision that was necessary for the the series but at the same time it gaves us RE5, RE6 and ORC.

They have a good formula going on, I don't see how they could mess it up, just put some new fun abilities and it'll be great. The writting on the other hand could be improved.

Not seeing anything that interests me so far. Everything I've read or saw reminded me of RE4, which I like but if I want to play RE4 I just play RE4.

Haven't played Revelations yet, so from best to worst RE4>RE6>RE5. RE5 is the worst game in the franchise I played.
