Default Famitsu RE5 "interview" (footage!) leaked early!

    Update
Kotaku has the RE5 portion of the video up! View it here. Thanks Gene!
Our good friend cvxfreak has the DVD as well, and he has a great thread up on Neogaf explaining its contents. Heres a nice summary of some basic information from cvxfreak:

-The village is modeled after ones you would find in Africa.

-At first, Chris can walk around without anyone attacking him, but after seeing a struggle where a villager is dragged into a room, mutations begin.

-Shinji Mikami's Biohazard 4 is the base for the system, with evolutions and improvements planned.

-Takes place 10 years after the mansion incident (2008).

-The game will have variation in weapons including series classics like the Handgun and Shotgun and such.

-The game will make use of the action buttons (QTEs) from Biohazard 4 once again.

-We will delve down into the story and characters of the Biohazard series, and thus this year will be filled with Biohazard.
Read more of his impressions here.

    end update
It seems the Famitsu DVD has been leaked early. A copy of the interview has surfaced on GameTrailers website. Unfortunately, it looks like the demand for the video brought their site down. Apparently, former 1UP staffer Mark MacDonald was the one who secured an early copy. Theres a thread on Neogaf with pictures from the game, and I must say they look stunningly beautiful. We'll update the post as a link becomes available.

    Neogaf thread.

I just watched it on Kotaku

Really hoping those enemy animations are placeholders... They are quite familiar...

Archives as a source? Or a shameless plug? Interesting.

Is it me or are the enemies deaf? look at the way Chris just walks past them or are they normal humans as well? is that why the black bloke is attacked in the room?

He hasn't triggered them yet. Seems like hes coming into town during a takeover (see how the one guy gets dragged inside the shed, and we seen already that a cutscene plays when you enter there to try and help the guy, but he turns). Also, Bodies crumble like in RE4, so I'm guessing Plagas or some variant, since they bubble a lot more. Probably Weskers handywork, a test for a global takeover plot

But yeah Gene, those fall down animations are from RE4. Hopefully placeholder. No doubt they are though, as they have new animations in there as well (whooping the axe above their head, instead of just holding it static in RE4). God this game looks so good.

The puddle is a new effect. It looks much better than in RE4. Seems to be an actual model now, rather than just sprite type effects. Much more bubbly/toxic looking too. Very cool.

Look at 1:02 when the guy is getting attacked and the two enemies are talking to each over Chris walks backwards to get out of the line of sight of one enemy walking off yet he would've still be seen by the the other enemy unless walking into them sets them off.

I think it's looking pretty good
Some footage is certainly better than none!
I'm intrigued... wanna see more... wanna play it!!!
I'm wondering if you have to walk around the village and try not to piss people off or draw attention to yourself.
Nice lighting effects. It remains to be seen how the whole light/dark thing will effect the gameplay. I know what the're saying about having to adjust when going from one to the other but I mean it remains to be seen just how much it will be used and whether it's gonna make things more fun or not.
It's a tasty glimpse of the game in action but I'm sure there will be loads more to the game than just that village. I'm already hungry for more!

edit: ah, more info... thus ends my Assassin's Creed comparison speculation.
"Delving into the characters and story of the Biohazard series". I like the sound of that!

Same animations for the most part (why?), but with obviously other improvements in graphics. A better looking RE4 basically -_-

Between this and yet another version of RE4, it's another day at Capcom it seems. Ah well, I guess I shouldn't have taken the "there is more to it than the trailer" chatter from last year.

I'm fairly certain Takeuchi said the new trailer would demonstrate that there's more to it than just RE4 HD, and this footage can hardly be considered a "new trailer."

True, but he's the game's producer so pushing the game as something new is part of his job (ie Mikami pushing RE3 as the second coming). For all we know, he probably meant different locales and other aesthetic/enemy changes than the trailer (kind of like RE4's village and later locales). It's based on the RE4 engine, so it's going to be action with some improvements.

My opinion or any criticism doesn't mean squat though as great interest in the game will/is still out there. More of the same isn't quite a bad thing, and I'm guilty of pushing for that myself. I liked RE4, but I didn't quite love it enough to want another similar sequel, so there's my angle.

It looks a lot like RE4 to me... I think they should change the style a little more... even the enemies have the same animations... come on CRAPCOM... not again.

Wow, Capcoms lack of creativity and their laziness? This is just like RE0 - REmake, Jill and Rebecca have the same animations; same with Billy and Chris, it's really stupid since they lack creating more new realistic ones...but this looks more a revamp of RE4 then I had expected...

You guys are forgetting that they are using RE4 as a base. That likely means they are using a lot of things from it before they replace it, IE Animations. The only one I noticed thats from RE4 was the falldown animation.

Chris firing the shotgun is the same, so is the animation when he gets hit by one of the blades (you can see it in the E3 '07 trailer).

However, I think everyone is just assuming that all of the animations are going to be recycled from RE4, despite the fact that the game is still a ways off, and these are all most likely just placeholders.
