Avatar is the prettiest movie ever made...which, given some other comments, may explain rehunks love of it. It's story is piss poor though. I predicted every single bloody plot twist by thirty minutes in. And yes, the Pocahantos references are quite valid. Acting is solid, sound track is...there and that's about it.

Yes, it looks good. It's gonna take a lot more than that to get me to like a movie.

Well, if you enjoyed it, great. But it's a clichéd story that was incredibly predictable. About the best you can say is that there weren't any serious plotholes...that I noticed, anyway. I could be wrong. Maybe someone who paid more attention could say if there are any.

There are a lot of better stories out there. Firefly and Serenity, of which I am a massive fanboy, spring instantly to mind. They have issues but they are very, very well written.

They were very well written movies, with some unique plot points. Which can't be said for Avatar...I don't think it had any unique plot points, really.

Firefly is one of the finest things to not be fully shown on TV and one day I'm going to force Enrico to watch it.

...Taxi Drvier invented the modern anti-hero and deconstructed the idea of vigilantism. Left with an open ending, was it an optimistic dying dream of a failed plan and he realistically died there, or did he really save anyone? Then there was the risk of casting an accuratly aged girl for the role of a child prostitute, really kickstarting Jodie Foster's academy award winning career from beyond her roles previously.


Goodfellas was made in 1990, with the only major mob films preceeding it beyond the 1930s were Scarface and The Godfather, all three being vastly different. Goodfellas focused on the working class of mob men, what was an actually well working system and then an eventual downall, sad irony that Henry Hill became what he despised in order to survive and not be assassinated. Not to mention Scorsese's filming techniques, including a 3 minute long solid tracking shot involving a lot of movement and action around it, AND a reverse tracking shot that kept the actors in place while the outside seemed to zoom in.

Avatar had pretty blue people killing teh wicked humans who want moniez. I'm sorry, but you're being thick. Like I said, Avatar can be enjoyed but don't you dare argue that it's anything original or awe-inspiring, and you're going to threaten to bitchslap me over the internet, over my ignorance in films?
