Dude..whatever you do, do NOT watch 'New Police Story'. it was released like 2007 or so and it was awful.

Unlike the first 3 films which had action and humor mixed pretty well, this 4th one was all drama with bits and pieces of action. I was so disappointed by it. I mean when you see a Jackie Chan film, you expect to action and comedy to be a big part of it and this film was...just boring, bland, predictable, and sad.

I love the first one though, god what an epic old school Jackie film.

I finally saw 'Men who stare at goats'... I bet the actors had a better time making the movie, than anyone watching it.

    It was okay.

I actually watched this last night!

Moon was a pretty cool movie, though I did figure out what was going on as soon as he woke up in the infirmary for the first time. Then the missing space suit a few other subtle things verified my speculation.

I think what I actually loved most about the movie was the emoticon faces on Gerty.

"Good morning, Sam? Did you sleep well?"
"No, Sam. I cannot allow you to leave the base."
"Sam, the man is Sam Bell. I am perplexed."
"Sam, what was that weird motion you were doing in bed?"

Okay, so I made the last one up, but I could hear Gerty saying it and having a very bug-eyed expression.

    Awesome movie!

Saw Contagion in IMAX, and I was thoroughly pleased. It's not an action-packed movie, but I really like the slower pace, it draws out the bleakness and paranoia of the situation extremely well. And the soundtrack is goooorgeous.

    I'd give it a solid 9/10.

Will be planning to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy later in a few hours with Emma. This is probably going to be the film of the year for me because of its cast and based on the novel alone of MI5 espionage. Can't wait.

Indeed great cast but none of them are Alec Guinness. Still, one of my most anticipated films of the year.

Come back impressed. Brilliant casting and direction through out the film. Definitely my personal favourite film for the year. You'll have a great time watching it.

Just watched Quarantine II: Terminal and REC2. I've gotta admit, I was kinda surprised that Quarantine ended up being the one I preferred. REC was just...very different in some important ways to the first, which was a shame.

    Spoiler:

    Drive 10/10

Best film of the year so far. Stylish direction by Nicolas Winding Refn that blends arthouse cinema with action, great performances all around and a great soundtrack to boot.

I picked up two movies from the five dollar bin today, the new "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Strays"(Vin Diesel's first movie, which he also wrote and directed. I watched strays, it rocks. About to watch Nightmare on Elm street, not expecting much from it but I'm a big fan of Jackie Earle Haley so whatever.

Quite possibly one of the worst science fiction horror films ever created, not even the presence of Donald Sutherland could save it. I am ashamed to have even bothered with watching it again after seeing it so many years ago. Nostalgia can be a bad thing. The premise was retarded, the characters were retarded and pretty much everything is laughably bad. Special effects were passable yet look so fake by today's standards.

For those unaware of this film, I'll provide a synopsis of the 'plot'. It's basically Cold Fear if you've ever played that, just replace mutants with cyborgs and you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect. A Russian whaler is struck by electromagnetic radiation or some crap which is actually some kind of alien lifeform, I don't know. Anyway, it contaminates the ship and transforms the crew into walking cybernetic monstrosities that pretty much resemble the Borg from Star Trek. As expected a hapless bunch of westerners turn up on a monthly tug boat and find themselves trapped on the ship, etc, etc, etc.

Basically, do not watch this film.

Time to start planning my Bondathon.
