The Thing (1982) is a masterpiece.

Side note - I loved Battle Royale back in 2002 when the DVD was released but haven't seen it recently. Have heard enough about The Hunger Games to give it a try despite obvious comparisons. Rental at best though.

Recently watched - bunch of Star Trek movies, lastly The Voyage Home.

    Kuchisake-Onna (The Slit-Mouth Woman 2)

It still amuses me that in this one, we have two characters dressed almost exactly like two characters out of Clock Tower. Jennifer in CT2 and Laura in CT.

If footage is lined up with some of Argento's films, it's entirely possible to make them work together.

Rewatched Alien for the first time on Bluray last night in preparation for Prometheus, and holy fucking shit the quality is out of this world. I doubt the movie looked as good as it does on bluray as it did in theatres, it's an absolutely staggering transfer.

lol no, I missed the chance when they did the inferior Directors Cut in 2003, but I can imagine the Bluray looks better now than the movie did in theatres back on original release.

Dunno, I always thought the grainy look of the film added to the experience.

But the Bluray for Alien and Aliens retains the grain. It's not been absolutely destroyed by DNR like Predator was (absolutely horrendous transfer).

I sure did back in 2003. Didn't mind the changes. Still love the original too.

You mean the one with Julia Voth doing occasionally lesbian things and stuff getting? Tries to do a Usual Suspects ending? I think Xena and Hercules showed up at one point as well...

In which case, the fact that that's all I remember tells you how good I thought it was.

Sounds like a "Piranha 3D" type of film.
