"The Lost Boys is amazing.
And then it was ruined with that shitty straight-to-dvd sequal."
Yeah, the second one kinda...I can't think of the correct term. FAILED. That's it. It revolved all around sex, instead of the plot.

every movie now and days has sex in it. or at least some kind of sexual intent to a extent.
See, The Breakfast Club if it was made today would have had sex in it. But nope, the film didn't really have that. There was talk about it, and I liked that scene where they open up to each other about it. A lot more mature than nowadays, more realistic. Unless of course, we ARE all sleazy today.

Most people at the high school ARE sleazy. I'm pretty sure that they've always talked about sex a lot in immature ways, but then again we're always hormonal teenagers at high school./
Discussion of sex is usually better than most films' portrayal of actual sex. Which is why Kevin Smith films are great, with all these tangential off the wall dialogues. Chasing Amy is the perfect example, there's a scene that's essentially a parody of the Jaws Quint and Hooper scars discussion, except this time around it's about sex scars.
There definitely are films that simulate sex in an effective way (Don't Look Now is a famous example), but not today I find.

i like your post John.
thats another reason i like this movie, its a teenager movie and its great and hell im pretty sure its the first teenager movie that didnt have sex in it.
yes they did talk about it but hey everyone talks about sex. the only real sexual thing out of TBC is you get to see Claires panties for a quick second when Bender is hiding under the table hiding from dick..sorry Vernon.
You just bought yourself another Saturday.

I saw Star Trek the other night, and I gotta say it was possibly one of the best movies I can remember going to see in theaters. If you have even a passing knowledge of Star Trek, I'd say go give it a shot.
Tons of action, lots of character development and I though they tied it in with the old series very well.
What rating would you give it, Dot?
That's great, I haven't seen a bad review of Star Trek yet. I just need to steal the money to see it now.
Just watched Master Of The Universe. I love the goddamn film, I'd choose MOTU over Star Wars any day.
Damn, double post. Sorry.

Last film I watched was Repo! The Genetic Opera, and I am already obsessed.
Star Trek is the greatest film ever made.

I saw it last night, and, while I certainly enjoyed it more than I expected considering it was directed by J.J. Abrams, I think IGN hit the nail on the head when they called it "Star Trek for Dumb People."
This is not to suggest the original series was particularly intelligent (though the subsequent films were far more in my opinion), but there were some serious Capcom-sized leaps in logic in this film that bugged the heck out of me. And while I enjoyed the various in-jokes and nods to the original series, there was a tad too much shtick for my tastes, with a lot of it completely unnecessary (Kirk's inflated hands and Scotty beaming into the water coolant system come to mind).
You don't watch a lot of movies, do you?

I thought that the whole nonsense with the "red matter" was dumbed down technobabble, but it's a fantastic way to bring in new fans to the franchise. That's what I think this film has done, it's done for Star Trek what Casino Royale did for James Bond. It's rebooted the series, and it'll bring in new fans as well as catering to the old school fans. I'm a die hard Trekkie, I have been for over 15 years now, and I enjoyed the film immensely. There was great characterisation, some nice in-jokes thrown around and beautiful special effects. I liked the opening sequence in particular, almost brought a tear to my eye when I heard the sounds of the newly born Kirk entering the world.
Moment I saw that redshirt descending with Kirk and Sulu to the drill platform, I already knew he was dead. He was dead before he even left the shuttlecraft. He was dead the moment he woke up in the morning in his quarters and thought, "You know, red seems like a nice colour to wear today."
