Grabbed the whole 20th Century Boys trilogy on DVD (based on a manga by the same name. By Naoki Urasawa, the author of stuff like Monster and Pluto).

Just saw the first two and putting on the 3rd now... quite possibly some of the most awesomely insane stuff I've seen in a while (as expected). Starting to feel a bit bad about never really giving the manga much attention (probably gonna buy a full set now)

My friend Will, who owns a manga shop, constantly orders me to buy 20th Century Boys. It's the only manga he himself has read in months, since he's a touch burned out right now.

    Conviction.

Great film! Very strong, real life story about a sister and her struggle to release her innocent brother from jail.

I might tune in to see Natalie Portman win her award.

Since I first saw her in The Professional/Leon, I predicted that she would win an Oscar some day... it seems that such a day has finally come.

I dunno if I will watch the whole thing, though.

I'm trying to see if I can see it with live streaming... Being in the West Coast is such a drag with the delay.

Agreed, she did an excellent job at that age in that film.

I'm also trying to find a website that will live stream it.

Edit: Check it out live here:

Thanks for the link. Everyone was watching football on TV. GOOOAAALLLL!

It seems that there is a live stream at oscars.com where they allow you to switch between cameras:

    http://oscar.go.com/

My half-ass predictions (I'm gonna select 2 nominees):

Best pic: The Social Network or The King's Speech. Black Swan has a chance too but it has some flaws that many critics have pointed out.

Actor in a Leading Role: Javier Bardem or Colin Firth.

Actress in a Leading Role: Natalie Portman. She owns this category.

Directing Tom Hooper or David Fincher

I'm really hoping for Christian Bale. It is a fact that he should have got his Oscar a long time ago. But I'm afraid that he will be, once again, unlucky this year.

Also, what in the world is Donald Trump doing there? Ridiculous...

sometimes i like them, but most of the time i don't. they snubbed The Dark Knight at least 2 awards it should have been nominated for, and yet again, they snubbed Nolan for the director role. i haven't seen Inception, but still. twice in a row is bad enough. all they do is play it safe, and yet again another Disney film takes the oscar for animated feature. its not even funny. they only nominate 3 animated films, and there's a hell of a lot more than that that probably deserve a nomination as well.

Christian Bale won! He got a bit emotional about it too. I guess it means a lot to him.

Not really paying too much attention to the show, though. I'm cleaning the damn garage.

Fuck the Kings Speech. That movie sucked. I was hoping 127 hours or The Social Network would win. Oh well. At least Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won

Lol, as soon as he won I said to myself "I bet Sebastian's happy about this," and also "I bet Trent's going to say 'If you're not able to afford the movie...steal it.'"

yeah, i don't even care for Colin Firth. and i would at least would of rather have Jeff Bridges won. that's how bullshit the academy really is. they didn't even nominate True Grit period for the Golden Globes, The King's Speech only took home 1, and then all of a sudden cause the King's Speech came out late and swept the SAG, Producer, and Director Guild Awards, King's Speech was bound to win because the same guys who give out the Guild Awards are the same fuckin' people who give out the Oscars.

Me and 6 other friends were all watching it and I was the only one who said that The Social Network was going to win. It was great watching their reaction of me screaming at the top of my lungs.

I don't care about them anymore so I'm indifferent who wins (well, except for a certain film that was released over a year ago...)

The last movie I saw was "Trigun: Badlands Rumble" and it was totally badass. If you dig the series (manga, anime or both), you should definitely check it out!

    "Monster" is SO fucking good.

Yes! Such a great news to wake up to! I bet he did, he was dedicated so many times, so many years, but was simply unlucky every time.

The King's Speech was excellent in every way. Colin Firth is like a flower who has just started to flourish, another great film he has done is "A Single Man". "127 Hours" was a good film, but it could have been better, it really had the potential. "The Social Network" is just like any other teen film, the story is extraordinary of course, but it is not Oscar worthy (nor is the acting).

I definitely agree. Jeff Bridges did an incredible job in "True Grit". But honestly, it was Christian Bale's turn to get the Oscar this year. Another argument of how the Academy people think.

Further more, Melissa Leo winning over Hailee Steinfeld just shows how the Academy does not give the opportunity to young actors win the Oscar in their first debut. The latter's performance in "True Grit" easily beats the former's in "The Fighter".
