I like the design of the penguin =P I'm hoping at least ONE of the two in that car is an older RE character, and not a new one.

Is that Co-Op play? As I said in earlier topic, if co-op is compulsory with A.I, I wouldn't like it much.
If Co-Op play is two players then deffinitly like it, probably drop-in/drop-out, but I'm not sure about the concept.

Otherwise, it looks awesome, dare I say that.
I'm not sure, it looks more original than RE4 now, I like it.
      I still want Sherry back.

Aparently they've reduce the Chris' overdoped arms. I like the mask of the new guy, and yes he seems to be a body guard or something of the new character =).

...It's me or Sheva can run ala GOW? ... or is she dodging?

Yes the pinguin character is definetly a woman. It can be one of the old characters, maybe even braiwashed Shery, or a brand new mutant boss chick knowing that it is a japanese game she can be even super sexy under her cloak. Or not, who khows

In some tribal nations and in the past, witch doctors and such wore birdlike masks and such. I'm not sure if that is the case with this charcter though.

I doubt Wesker would have any reason to hide himself. He never has in the past. But it could very well be him.

EDIT- After looking...yeah....it does look female. You can see the light outline of breasts.

It's interesting that Sheva carries weapons on her back as well. Takeuchi said that the real-time weapon switching may or may not make it into the final build, as they were just using it during the demo because they hadn't worked out the inventory system yet. If the screens with Sheva are any indication, I'd say they've decided to keep it in.

On the other hand, if she acts as an AI partner, she may have carry the weapons on her person so she can switch to them herself without the player needing to enter a separate inventory screen for her ala RE0. Of course, this is assuming that there is co-op and she follows Chris around for most, if not the entirety, of the game.

1Up has some extra information from the article regarding Sheva.

As the game industry begins its final preparations for the E3 event in Los Angeles next week, new information on some of the hottest Japan-made games of the future is beginning to trickle through the local media. Chief among those is Resident Evil 5, a title that has been on the "buy" lists of Japanese gamers (especially PS3 owners) practically from the moment its existence was first revealed in 2005. It seems fair to expect a fair amount of RE5 data to be uncovered next week, but for now, Japan's Weekly Famitsu magazine has unveiled the heroine that you're going to be fighting with in the game.

Sheva Alomar is a no-nonsense African-born lady who works for the West African division of the Bio-Terrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), the same force that hero Chris Redfield works for. She was personally involved in a bio-terror attack once, and the experience has given her a deep-seated hatred of terrorism, one that's inspired her to become a martial-arts expert and a well-trained firearms specialist. Screenshots revealed this week feature Sheva showing off a casual mastery of handguns, shotguns, and rifle; there's also a knife slung on her waist, so it seems fair to expect she'll use that as a close-range weapon.

Resident Evil 5 is set in Africa ten years after the original Resident Evil, where Chris and fellow S.T.A.R.S. teammate Jill Valentine explored a trap-laden mansion and spouted off cheesy one-liners to each other. Chris should be used to having a female partner by this point, but already tension seems to be in the air between Sheva and him.How will their relationship unfold? We may not have to wait long to find out -- no official date has been announced for RE5's PS3 and Xbox 360 release, but producer Jun Takeuchi stated last month that he intends to get the game out within the Capcom's fiscal year, which ends next March.

Here is some more information I got:

The mystery heroine who has been appearing in the Resident Evil 5 screenshots and trailers has at long last been identified. This week's Famitsu has first details on that character and more.

According to the magazine, the character's name is Sheva Alomar. Born in Africa, the setting of this latest RE title, Sheva is an agent in the West African branch of the B.S.A.A. (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance), the organization whose North American branch has Chris's loyalty. In her past, she was caught up in some sort of bio-terror incident and grew extremely hateful of terrorism.

While Famitsu didn't get into specifics on RE5's storyline, it did reveal that Sheva will be meeting up with Chris in Africa after he's dispatched there on a mission. The setting of Chris and Sheva's new survival horror adventure is Kijuju, that ruined town shown in the trailers.

Sheva will be fighting alongside Chris, but she seems to have some advantages over the long time RE series hero. In addition to being good with guns, she's also skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Also revealed in this week's issue is a mysterious masked character who dresses in robes. He may be a villain, or he may be an ally.

With E3 just around the corner, expect more details on Sheva, Chris, Kijuju, and all things Resident Evil 5 soon.

Ugh....go figure they're going to add sexual tension between Sheva and Chris. It's completely unnecessary. And the co-op is really starting to look worse in my view.

I got the impression the apparent "tension" was from her being involved in a terrorist act, not because she was a woman.

I'm not too sure...they keep reiterating that she is a woman....when just by looking at her its very obvious. And there is of course their lines in the trailer.

Hmm...I'm wondering if E3 will give us an official release date.
