Basicly the replay of RE dead aim story. The hairy dude from the trailers begining stol or, if he is a former Umbrellas scientist, save a smul portion of t-virus. Then he desided to repay to the whole world/USA/someone else by spreading virus in the airport and turning homself into a monster in the proses. But thats IMO.

There's a number of ways, really. Everything from an offshoot of Umbrella whose cargo plane crashed during an outbreak onboard to a disgruntled former employee releasing it to a terrorist group releasing it and demanding money for a cure (which they might not have). There a hundred and one ways to start the outbreak, really. Given that both Leon and Claire are there I'm guessing it's a deliberate act rather than an accident. Then again they could be there to bust the people transporting the virus...so who knows?

And since when have RE characters been anything more than 2D? The only character in the entire series to have even a semblance of depth is Steve in CODE: Veronica, and even then, it wasn't much.

Haha...thanks for the laughs this morning.

To answer some of the previous posts...the R.P.D. may have removed some of the other desks after the deaths of the other STARS. (Though I haven't played RE2 in a looonnngg time, so I don't remember the size of the office or number of desks in RE2). I mean, there was a small passage of time between the mansion incident and the destruction of Racoon City.

Back stories would be nice, but as I mentioned, they have never been too essential to plot progression. And, as with many Japanese games, the age of a character never makes realistic sense. I mean, Rebecca was an 18-year-old medic with combat skills. It's like in those RPGs where a main character is 16 and responsible for slaying dragons and saving the world.

Jill was 23 in RE1, so she could have done a 4-year stint in the Army. Delta Force training was a bit farfetched, but not impossible. Claire's combat skills (her being just a college student) are a little much. But not as bad as in RECV, where she became a terminator.

About Barry's appearance in the end of RE3...it was cool to see him again, and fitting that he rescue Jill...again. But if he took his family to Canada, how did he manage to make it back to Racoon, find a helicopter (much less fly it), and get to Jill just in the nick of time? Or was Barry enroute to Europe (via Racoon) from Canada in a helicopter?

I just hope Degeneration explores the unknowns we have for so many of the other characters in the series. Some sort of exposition on where they went or what happened to them. It better not just be about Leon and Claire...with zombies...in an airport.

The same thing that happened with the nuclear scientists after the end of the Cold War and the fall of the United Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR). Basically you have thousands of scientists now out of a job, so they look else where for work.

This is what happened with Umbrella. Since the downfall of Umbrella happened so suddenly, and given the size of the company, it may have employed millions of people all around the world. Now that they are all out of a job, they look for work and who's hiring with the big bucks? Terrorists, rival companies, and quite possibly other branches of Umbrella playing off as other companies...

Actually, it is pretty much impossible. Unless I'm mistaken, in order to join Delta Force, you have to either be a former Green Beret or Army Ranger. Neither the Green Berets nor the Army Rangers allow women to join their ranks. And even if they did, there's no way Jill could become a Green Beret or Army Ranger, then join Delta Force, and then quit, by the age of 23. Really, someone at Capcom probably saw the name "Delta Force" and thought, "Hey, that sounds cool. Let's just use that."

Oh, good call. And you're probably 100% right with what you said in your last 2 sentences.

Did anyone of you think about the possibility to see Zombies
and B.O.W.'s in RE5 again? The story of Degeneration plays in 2005,
one year after RE4 but still before RE5. Maybe there's a possiblity to
see them again? If they really count the story of Degeneration to the
entire story of all installments then it may be.

That's what I am confused on, is Degeneration actual canon?
Or isit going to be a left out story, based on the games story?
It would be silly to not include it as canon, but then how does Umbrella play their part in this?
                    *Reads above posts*
Maybe Umbrella have created, a so called "unground" black market group?
I'm unsure, so you can ignore that.

Yeah, I don't think it is impossible to see zombies again. But I think, since RE5 is following up on RE4 (and the enemies seem almost 100% similar) that Wesker's goal is an army of virally-infected people, so that they can be controlled. If he's been collecting all the different viral strains (and even if he managed to get a real Las Plagas sample) then I'm sure he's been crossbreeding to create the ultimate virus.

I don't know if Umbrella Chronicles was released in Germany (I think I read it received a ban for violence?) but if you really want some zombie action, that's the way to go. But Umbrella Chronicles covers the time frame up to 2003. Degen is in 2005. So, zombies are still out there...there's no doubt in my mind that we've seen the last of them.

                      • There was a Chuck Norris movie by the name "Delta Force". Perhaps there is an awesome connection between Jill and Chuck Norris?

(Side note : I heard Chuck Norris counted to infinity. Twice.)

On a serious note, don't you have to be ranked atleast a seargent in either the Green Berets or Army Rangers to be qualified for the Delta Force? How long does it take to get to that rank? Then for the Delta Force training? Then to come out of that to be on a police force in the mid-west. Seriously, how bad could crime be in Raccoon City to warrant an elite tactical team? I didn't get that feeling from playing any of the games, to be honest...

If you really want to stretch it, I suppose you could say it has something to do with the Oklahoma City bombing back in 1995. After that, an anti-terrorist unit in a midwestern city doesn't seem too implausible.

                          • You're messing it all around when everything is quite simple: Jill graduated the preparatory at 7, then she join the Army Rangers at 10, ended her trainning at 14, then she join the... no Green Berets.. but the Blue Berets!!, and quit at 18 just because it was too easy for her, after that she began her trainning at Delta Force by 4 more years and by this time she was already a seargent willing to retirement in a pacific city... and of course, Raccoon were hiring super-quialify agents with super-awsome-custom-uniforms to fight crime. And now she kills zombies between her legs. See? simple as hell.

That might be his goal. He's a great scientist. Maybe he's really fusing the viruses
                              with the plagas?

                              EDIT:
                              Kleine Ergänzung:
I think if he would fuse the virus with the Plagas it would be an awesome result.

                              - Immunity against Pain (T-Virus)
                              - Unbelievable increased powers (G-Virus)
                              - Speed, and full controll over every part of the brain, except the free will (Las Plagas)

They would be impossible hard to kill, I think. If not in RE5, then in a (hopefully) Successor.
Capcom should use this chance. And I bet that Wesker will be the last boss of the last RE
installment. Maybe this kind of Virus I am talking about will only be used on him?
Wouldn't it be cool to fight him in his human state but with all skills the viruses give their
                              victims?
