I have high hopes, though...it's made by Zipper.
What makes you think it's rendered?

Tread carefully about Eternal Darkness. Like I said, the three big letdowns for me were the bad graphics, the sluggish gameplay and the ending.
So don't expect too much from those aspects of the game.

i don't really care for graphics at all, but gameplay is a big issue, what is bad about it?

The graphics weren't terrible. Given it was a GameCube game and there could have been a lot more done with it, but it's still definately playable. The gameplay really isn't that different from Resident Evil - select your target with R, and aim up, down, or in the middle. Except with this you can select bodyparts and use spells. Valentine, if you didn't find the original Resident Evil's gameplay to be a pain in the ass (by the originals I mean RE1-3), you won't have any problem with it. I also found nothing wrong with the ending.

I thought Eternal Darkness was just a N64 game which was ported to GC during Development and tarted up somewhat for the console?

Basically, if you like HP Lovecraft you have a good chance of enjoying Eternal Darkness. It has a very similar vibe to Cthulhu.

That's what the game was based on, Denis Dyack is quoted as saying the whole game is very "Lovecraftian". Instead of "Old Ones", it's the Ancients, and the game has its own version of the Necronomicon. The story is focussed on the concept of sanity as well. It's very interesting, and I love it. The game was what made me buy the Necronomicon as well and it's a very good read.

...someone wrote up a version of the Necronomicon? That must be fun. Do they make it look like an old version or something?

Well, I find the characters run kind of slowly. I dunno, sometimes it's almost like they're trying to run through water, for the slower characters.

I felt like the ending was rushed... Either that, or they got lazy. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but I feel like after beating a game like that, it would've been nicer to be rewarded with something a bit more elaborate. A cool cinematic would've been nice.

Look, all I'm saying is, if you do get it, don't get your hopes up. Then maybe you won't be disappointed like I was.

Erm... You are aware, they're not talking about the Evil Dead Necronomicon, right?

No, it's basically a compilation of HP Lovecraft's Work, including the Cthulu work and a lot of his other stories. Very interesting.

I assume they're talking about the Lovecraft Necronomicon...which is a fictional book. In fact, as far as I know, there is no real version. And since all the Lovecraft ones are supposed to be, at best, 200 years old...

Edit: Now that I would love to buy. Mmm, Cthulhu.

Oh okay. Because when you said, "That must be fun," I thought for a second... Well, nevermind, then.

It's weird. It's just a bunch of short stories about people who come into contact with the "Old Ones", and go crazy, or want to kill themselves, or die. A bit like the Tome of Eternal Darkness. That's why I like it.

Done, but only if I can use it to end exsitence as we know it.

Anyway, I quite liked Eternal Darkness, but I'm a big Cthulhu fan. Getting the secret ending did get quite akward after a while, though, as the game can be repetative. The variation in the enemies is not huge.

Maybe you have to be an HP Lovecraft fan to enjoy Eternal Darkness... Which I'm not.

It certainly doesn't hurt, since it's pretty much Lovecraft in all but name.

Right... So maybe it was the fact that I wasn't playing the game, going, "Oh, that's just like in that book!"

The control scheme is nothing like classic RE gameplay. It's mostly with swords, and non-tank controls.

It's not mostly with swords. A lot of characters have guns too and you can choose where to shoot, like in RE. I found the gameplay similar and don't see why you found it to be a problem in ED if it wasn't for RE.

I wasn't a Lovecraft fan before this game, it was the other way round. The game started my interest in him. You don't have to be anything to appreciate and enjoy this game.

Well, all I know is that I didn't enjoy it very much. And RE's gameplay was a lot faster than ED. Even RE1 had faster running.
Yeah, there are guns, but some characters force swords, and even the final boss battle pretty much has to be fought with a sword.
