Some doesn't mean all. So it's a bad game because some characters can't run very fast? Bearing in mind some, not all, depending on which character it is, for specific reasons.

I don't see how you couldn't have enjoyed the game simply because some characters don't run fast.

No. I'm not gonna take it apart and try to dissect every little aspect of it. All I know is that I sat there, playing it, and all that was going in my head was, "This is tedious, when am I gonna finish this chapter so that I can see who the next character is?"

Well then that's your opinion. I played the game, enjoyed every minute of it, and wasn't disappointed at the ending.

Right... But as you can see, not EVERYONE loved the game. So you can't just assume that whoever plays it is gonna love it.

Nor can you assume that aspects you found in the game to be disappointing, everyone else will too. Especially considering that you're not prepared to elaborate on that and justify your point, finishing it up with "Well, all I know is I found it tedious". That's not because of the gameplay. The gameplay was fine, it probably just wasn't for you. My point is that you're then saying to someone else "I warn you against buying it because of 1 2 and 3", then you're not prepared to back it up when I ask you what your issues were with them in the first place.

I never said that. All I said was "tread carefully, because not EVERYONE enjoyed it."

And I stated my arguments. Graphics, gameplay, and the ending. Mostly the gameplay. I didn't like it, and some other people might not either. I'm not saying not to buy it, I'm just giving an opposing point of view. Which I strongly believe. I don't think it's such a great game.

That's fair enough. I could say on the same token that not everyone will dislike it. I simply stated I enjoyed the game, very much so. I never said I assume everyone who plays it will enjoy it.. so I don't know where you think I said that.

Well, its the way you word your recommendation.

"It's brilliant and I'd recommend any fan who's ever played Resident Evil and enjoyed it, to buy this game."

Kinda comes off like, "If you liked RE, you'll like this." So... Okay, maybe not everyone who plays it will like it, but everyone who liked RE will like it.

I'm just saying, I realize you really like this game, but you're making it sound like you're guaranteeing that missvalentine will love it. All I'm saying is that I like Resident Evil and I didn't like EDSR.

I didn't say I guarantee she will enjoy it, but if she has played Resident Evil then she should buy it as it is a good horror game and most RE fans I know who have played it, have enjoyed it. I never said I guarantee she will like it, that's twisting my words on your part.

Anyway, I don't want to debate on what I said and what I didn't. Let's get back on topic.

One more thing. My good friend loves it, and she doesn't even consider it a horror game. Okay, back on topic, I bet you're anticipating the sequel, huh?

The game is defined as "psychological horror". I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel and hope Silicon Knights will invest in it, I've even PM'ed Dennis Dyack on the Too Human forums before but got no reply. I'm not sure what will happen because of this Nintendo exclusivity on the sanity bar effect.

Nintendo owns the entire franchise, they published it. The sequel will be a Wii exclusive, published by Nintendo once again.

Ugh.. not keen on that to be honest, I don't even want to think how the Wii-Mote will be implemented into gameplay. I'm not a big fan of sequels of old games anyway, usually it's just disappointment. Mass Effect is fairly new though so I know that sequel won't be a letdown.

Well, unfortunately, whoever publishes it, owns it. So Nintendo can get anyone to develop it. They could contact Capcom and say, "You wanna make the next Eternal Darkness for us?" if they wanted. I mean, usually, publishers tend to keep the same developers for a franchise, since they were the guys that made the first game what it was in the first place. So you don't see it too often. But it's Nintendo's property, so they can do whatever they want with it.

    EDIT:

    My very most anticipated game?

    Uncharted 2!!! Woot!

Yes. Eternal Darkness is one of those games that "needs" to be there next to your other (horror?) games, definitively. Of course, it loses a bit of its charm when people have done a fantastic job in spoiling every single event in the game, as it's not just all about the story (although, it is rather heavily replayable, thanks to the endings)

Ahah, it was. It's very noticable during the few pre-recorded FMV scenes in the game.

It played with quite a lot of 4th wall breaking stuff that made it extra awesome. Especially when you, your grandmother and the frontpage of New York Time didn't know about any of it. And it had a lot of subtle little evil details too that most people missed out on (No clue how they did. Maybe they played with low volume, while half-drunk at a party and on a camping TV at the beach or something... I dunno.)

New most anticipated game for me here.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Holy goddamn fucking shit yes. The first game was the best movie-based game ever made and one of my favorites FPS's. This edition includes a remake of that one (which hopefully won't cause my 64-bit Vista to shit brix every 30 minutes like Butcher Bay did) as well as an entirely new campaign that's just as long as the original AND a multiplayer mode.
