For the first few hours it felt very much like an expansion pack, but I feel it came around toward the end. The gameplay is a lot better than the first, but the story isn't that great to be honest, and that's not me comparing it to the first game's story. In general, it's just kind of bad, and it suffers from a lot of things that break many sequels for me.
I'm not in a hurry to get this (but I'd like to eventually). I'll just wait until I find it in a bargain bin for half price, like I did with the first game.
I absolutely loved the original game at first. The intro and setting was fantastic. The atmosphere, graphics, story and game play were all great. I thought "wow, this game deserves the hype". But about half way through I found it lost a lot of the magic.
The illusion of a vast, underwater world was lost as I realized I was still just traversing a series of mostly narrow corridors (like most games). Constantly upgrading all of my weapons and abilities became more of a chore than fun. The hacking and just about everything else in the game, all became a bit routine.
The first few times I decided to start shooting at a 'Big Daddy' I was shitting my pants. It was a very cool and memorable gaming experience but even those encounters became routine (as I hunted down and killed them all). But just watching and listening to the interaction between them and the little sisters was brilliant.
I kept going and finished the game but I was no longer loving it. My final thoughts were that it was a great, well made FPS but a long way from being on my personal list of favorites. However, it's still 'one of the best' FPS that I've played...
So, what ending did everybody get?

I got the one

I got Spoiler:
If you kill a big daddy for his little sister and decide to adopt her. You don't have to harvest ADAM with her. You can take her straight to a vent to release her, but you get less ADAM.

Just almost have this downloaded on Steam (gone for PC version this time around). The aspect of a much more open Rapture, and the multiplayer as a plus, are the biggest reasons to give this a spin. I am sure the story wont be as spectacular the first game gave me for experience, which is not a bad thing mind you. I think it's going to be the world and characters that really mold this into a series (like a series of novels that talk of events that occurred in many areas than just one primary character's family with Ryan) to become something to look forward to in the future. Impressions soon.

I thought I'd throw this out there. More opinions on BS 2
He's so wrong about the multiplayer aspect, half of the resources weren't used up doing that. That was handed off to another dev team entirely, so if he's gonna bitch about it, he needs to get his facts straight.
Hopefully I'll be able to finally buy this tomorrow.
