I feel bad for certain people's lack of imagination and completely crippled art sense. Realism in a zombie game? Okay.

I tried to avoid that many times, but it's getting intolerable. I'm running out of civilized ideas on how to make Jill's Boob shut up about me already. This is a Resident Evil forum.

You guys need to refrain from getting into fights and just accept other peoples opinion.
Oh, and, about realism, not to stir anything up, but a zombie outbreak is actually possible, maybe not in this day, but it can seriously be realistic.

It's a science fiction game and most science fiction in modern times are at least BASED on realism, something that could actually happen. That's why Resident Evil has always been scary - it's not that far away from reality, something that could actually happen. RE has never been an "art" game, it's science fiction and survival horror.

I'd like all of you to debate eachothers' ARGUMENTS and not make personal insults towards eachother, it turns good debates into a bout of mud slinging.

How exactly am I fighting or being insulting? I see something that makes me scratch my head, and offer a counter-point. Nowhere did I label or insult anyone with derogatory language.

At the very worst I am making an argument, but that is hardly a grievous offense.

I completely agree and I always try to avoid that. I just got tired of Jill's Boob's constant comments on me.

About imagination and art, and realism... A certain level of realism is needed, of course, but not to the point everything is plain. Little touches like the key designs, the typewriters, the architecture in old games, all that was artistic value. Of course it adds to the atmosphere. Atmosphere is not just about music and lighting and enemies. The environment plays a big role, since it's the portal to that different world you enter when playing a game. RE always had certain quirks and elements that really helped create that unique RE experience, and with them gone (along with other elements), RE now faces extinction.

4 million units shipped, and the game is not even a week old. What is your definition of "extinction?"

You didn't use derogatory language? So far, I've seen you label him as a toddler, and call him deranged. You were offering counter-points at first, now all I can see is the same shit escalating in, and derailing, various different topics. "Rakkoon is nitpicking at RE5" "No I'm not" "Yes you are". He has a right to his opinion, whether you or I agree with it or not.

The same goes for you Rakkoon, making remarks towards JB. If you both can't discuss this in a civil manner then don't discuss it with eachother at all and take your argument to PM and stop dragging it into numerous threads. I'm bored of reading this argument when I'm trying to discuss Resident Evil 5, and I'm sure other members are too. Knock it off, now.

The old RE is extinct but it's not exactly as if this is a shocker to any of us. We knew this since RE4. Resident Evil won't be extinct for a long time as RE4 and 5 were highly successful games and it has a loyal fanbase.

I don't think you should encourage people who do nothing other than piss and moan about the most trivial things, and then piss and moan more when people call them out on it. People are discussing the RE series here and ofcourse people won't agree about everything, but 90% of Rakkoon's posts are just statements about how much he hates the RE series now, and given how Rakkoon responds to any form of critisism, it's obvious he doesn't want to start any debates with his statements, he just wants to fill the forums with offhand "RE sucks now" remarks with immunity. I find Rakkoon's posts way more offensive than anything Jill's Boob has said, and I think he is doing him a service by trying to snap him out of his wallowing in self pity because "they completely RAPED the glorious Jill Valentine by making her blonde".

That's what the REPORT button is there for. If you find someone's post to be offensive, or spam, then report it. Something you DON'T do is hurl a long line of derogatory remarks towards other members because then that gets you in trouble. I'm not "encouraging" anyone, I've already spoken to Rakkoon privately and told him to avoid such posts in the future, and he apologised. I don't agree with his points either, but I'm not calling him out or namecalling.

In regards to Jill's hair.. come off it. How many RE fansites are you on? Do you think he's the only person to complain about Jill's hair colour? What was the main topic of discussion BEFORE RE5 was released?

I've already told the other two to drop it now Sina, so stop carrying it on and get back on topic before I start giving out infractions.

Those were in the SAME lone post in another thread. And Rakoon, feel free to hit the "report" button on that one. Either way, I'm not trying to pick on Rakoon. If I disagree with something, then I say it. If it appears to be offensive, then the mods will punish me accordingly. (Not that I am trying to cause trouble for them, or incite spiteful arguments.)

Either way, AA, you made your point here, so we'll all just cease & desist.

There is absolutely no realism in Resident Evil 5. It's one of the most fantastically over the top games ever to have been made.

Yes, it's definitely an endearing quality and a consistent theme throughout the series - The idea of a Biohazard causing an outbreak that affects people in these ways is definitely one that is rooted in reality, but Resident Evil has never been presented in that way, least of all Resident Evil 5. Next to Resident Evil 4, RE5 is the most over the top of them all.

...Maybe i was just too engrossed during the boss fights with a particular blonde amalgamation of Nightcrawler and Tony Jaa and a 40ft giant man with a belt of corpses to notice the realism.

*rolls eyes* This is the same bullshit we get on the Metalgearsolid.org forums, if you are looking for realism in games like this you are on the wrong track completely.

Embrace the fantasy, explore the disbelief and enjoy the story.

I always used to find hilarious when people would whine about MGS/RE being unrealistic when the very same people subscribe to series that has, for example, a floating telepathic man who can 'appear' to float through walls. Or that a chemical can cause a man to turn into a 7-foot monster with a large claw for a hand. You have to ask yourself what did you sign on for when you parted with the cash to play Resident Evil 5/4/3/2.etc.

Resident Evil has always been based on a sort of suspended disbelief realism. It's like Jurassic Park. You can convince yourself for the sake of your own enjoyment that it could happen, but in the back of your mind you're pretty sure it could not. I think that's what got me into the series, the fact that it's atleast based on pseudo science and, with an open mind, plausible ideas. It's not based on the spirit world and the supernatural, but on something tangible and explainable.

Like Las Plagas for example, which is based on real life parasites that can take control of certain species minds. Or T-Veronica, that was based on forcing the very real ecology of ants onto the human race.

The only time I've felt they really pushed it too far (not counting spinoffs) was James Marcus and his morphing leeches. It just didn't make any sense, nomather how open your mind was. Actually, most of RE0 went over that fine line of plausibility and retardedness.
