    Default RE5 Zombies?

I know that alot of people were hyped after that screenshot of the "zombie" grabbing chris in that spanish magazine. So, We've been let down again but I was excited that they were at least in the game a bit. I thought it was awesome how they fly up on the conveyor belt to attack, kind of brought back old memories. So, these "failed test subjects" are zombies right? Do they ever bite you if you don't fight back? I kept trying to see if they'd bite but eithier Sheva would kick it off me or I would start getting too close to the incinerator. I wish they would have at least put functional (walking and attacking) zombies on one level. It was a major tease to me, especially after the cutscene that shows the "zombie" being disposed off confirmed my hopes of what I thought was going to be some good old-fashioned undead fun.

They're not zombies, and they don't bite you. Even if you don't fight back, they just stare at you.

    It's still a nice throwback, though. ;)

Maybe it's a hint about future titles? Takeuchi has said just recently in that 1up interview that they will return in the future (and he did pretty much flat out say that too).

That being said, it was a nice moment that was purely shameless fan service, obviously.

They are zombies, they are just too wasted they don't have enough strength to bite you...

I think they're progentor zombies. The way I see zombies working is the reason they bite and kill people is that the virus re-wires the brain, causing a hunger that needs to be fulfilled by whatever moves, as well as restarting basic motor control, snesory parts of the brain, etc. Since there memory isn't one of the things that's brought back they won't see a hamburger as food, but sometbing that moves...and thus the virus spreads.

Progentor is something different, and we don't know too much about it. If the virus simply starts up motor control again but doesn't cause the hunger they likely wouldn't attack. At least, that's my theory.

This is why zombies are no longer in the game:

"They are slow, people want fast paced action not slow survival horror". - Capcom's plan to maximize Resident Evil's profits.

Heres my solution to Capcom's problem WITHOUT removing zombies and thus pissing off the fanbase that had made it a success in the first place, and it should have been obvious:

1.) Use a lot of zombies in creative ways (i.e: crashing through windows and doors to put them close to the player. Normally a slow moving target like a zombie would be way too easy in a game like Re5 were you can shoot at a monsters weak spot before it reaches you, but with a lot of numbers and thoughtful placement, they can still be used effectively).

2.) Crimson Heads. Come on... this should be fucking obvious.

3.) ANY of the dozens of fast paced RE monsters... hunters, lickers, crows, bees, tyrants, g-monsters, dogs, etc etc etc...

4.) It seems like capcom thinks if they use Las Plagas that means they can't use the T-virus anymore. Thats not true! Use both! ... at least have zombies with las plagas in them.... anything!! were begging you..........

I agree, the progenitor virus would make a for good theory behind these mellow ghouls. They certainly look like zombies, and the their moans bring back a flood of old memories

But doesn't the progenitor virus just kill humans who don't have an immunity to it? (Ex: Ashford, the Tribal people,).

But what about Eliminators from RE0? I think that the primates accept the virus naturally and become stronger, but become more violent.

Even normal zombies aren't as slow as all that. Look at Umbrella Chronicles. They get over plenty quick. Now, make it about fifty on screen, throw in a half dozen crimson heads or Hunters, and suddenly we're not exactly lacking in killing power here. Especially given that a headshot or limb shot won't stun a zombie like a Ganado/Majini.

I'm pretty sure the bodies on the conveyor belts are zombies. There's a file you find later that mentions that victims rejected by Uroboros were to be sedated and immolated. Uroboros is derived from the Progenitor Virus right? This would basically make them zombies, albeit not T-Virus zombies.

Whats all this talk about Progenitor zombies?
The progenitor virus usually kills people. I think the only person it didn't kill was Lisa Trevor.
    T-Virus = zombies. nothing else.

Wasn't the Proto Tyrant made using the T-Virus? I'm sure in Zero they say Progenitor causes a breakdown in cells and at that point there'd been no way to utilize it as a weapon. It's obvious that later on, Progenitor was developed though; by the time of REmake we already have two different strains, one of which didn't kill the host.
