YOUR top ten most feared B.O.W.s

I'm sure there has probably already been a topic like a while ago, but I didn't see any on the other pages. I just want to see some people's opinions.

What to you, are the top ten scariest B.O.W.s or creatures in the Resident Evil universe. Don't just list the ones you think look cool, list the ones that have scared you more than any other (yes, even if its a bee, don't be ashamed). Consider all games and all moments that have had you jump and/or pee yourself and rank them, 1 being scariest.

10. Zombies
You have got to give zombies credit. They might be some of the weakest enemies of the game, but they are a constant threat and source of dread. There have been countless times they have been placed in certain situations where they pop out unexpectedly and scare the crap out of you. Plus they are just classic, they have to be on the list.

9. Cerberus
Dog through the window. That's all I need to say.

8. Regenerator
People always bash RE4 for not being scary like its predecessors, but I found the regenerator to more than live up to the more classic B.O.W.s of the older games. I have freaked out more than once trying to shoot the parasites inside the regenerator fast enough before it reached me. Plus the sound it makes is creepy as hell.

7. Nemesis
When I played RE2 (first RE game I played), I thought Mr. X was scary as hell. Especially in several scenes when you could hear him walking before you saw him. That was before I met Nemesis in RE3. Sure Mr. X is scary, but compared to the relentlessness of Nemesis its not even close.

6. Lisa Trevor
Speaking of bosses that never die... Lisa Trevor had to be one of the best additions to the REmake. The list goes on... her twisted back story, the fact no matter how many bullets you put into her she just keeps coming, the bed that was "still warm" and that "moan" of hers... Lisa is one freaky bitch that I definitely wouldn't want to be stuck in a cave with.... oh wait. >_>

5. Tyrant T-002
I still have nightmares about this thing... seriously. I don't think there's any one boss battle finale that made my palms sweat more, especially while playing on hard mode and having to resort to using the last of my pistol ammo. Also the first time he ever bitch slapped my rocket away I about shat bricks.

4. "G"
William Birkin is probably my favorite villain in the series. But his mutant form was one that haunted my childhood. RE2 was the first RE game I ever played. Playing through the first time I never knew when he would show up next. Hearing his "roar" in the cutscenes and after fighting him a the first few times literally made me dread his appearance throughout the entirety of the game. The best kind of fear is when you scare yourself! The first "final" battle with him while waiting for the elevator is pretty damn intense.

3. Licker
The first time I ever saw that Licker crawl across the window I froze. I paused the game, sat the controller down and walked away. Then, about ten minutes later when I finally got the courage up to continue, I opened that door to the camera angle's perspective of seeing me through the window being "watched". Again, I paused and walked away.... FINALLY I managed to make my way to that blood pool down the hallway... I was decapitated soon thereafter. Needless to say, I'm scared of Lickers. Also, that Interrogation room gets me every single time. I know its coming, but still to this day, I jump.

2. Hunter
Hunters in RE1 are scary as hell. They are fast, they don't die easy and there are a SHITLOAD of them. Especially in the original RE when ammo was a lot less common, these things scare me. The REmake version adds a lot of unexpected parts like jumping through windows or knocking down doors. Plus being decapitated is always a joy.

1. CRIMSON HEAD
This concept added SO much dread to the Remake of RE1. Now not only is the fact that a zombie is coming for you is scary... but the option of killing one is also scary. I've heard people say "I think I would be OK in a Romero-style zombie apocalypse, but if they were the running zombies then I think i'd just kill myself". I'm glad that RE has running zombies.

Run out of fuel? Thats one of those ".... Oh fuck" moments.
Try to set a zombie on fire and it STANDS UP? That's one of those "OH FUCK!!!!" moments.



And wow, I just wrote like a fucking novel or something. I have no life.

10. Crimson Heads. These go into a class of enemies that I constantly underestimate. "Oh I'll just run away from-HOLY SHIT HE'S GAINING ON ME!" Though it's fun when they accidentally smack a zombie to the floor (or Forrest!)

9. Bandersnatch. That arm is annoying, plus the stabby string music gets to me.

8. Garrador. I can't say I'm as good or lucky as those that take advantage of these plaga-tyrants' vulnerable spot. The fully armored one gave me 10 minutes of tedium. They get my heart beating pretty good in Mercenaries, except when I'm Krauser, ha.

7. Dogs from multiple games. The best feature of a BOW is an element of unpredictability. As many drawbacks as RE5 had, they sure had some interesting and fun baddies. If you can't find higher ground by climbing a ladder, hope they don't open...themselves. The colmillos were one of the rare frightening aspects in RE4. The cerberi in RE3 were absolutely relentless.

6. Ivys. Holy Christ, the acid, the goggles do nothing! In all seriousness though, these guys are frustrating, they can end speedruns. I'll never get fooled by the P-epsilon again.

5. G-Type dog. Screw those teeth.

4. Tyrant T-078. Classic challenging boss. The first form is easy enough but the second can destroy you if you press a wrong button.

3. MA-121 Hunter. It's a dangerous enemy just from the fact that more often than not, it'll land a swipe. Of course you could be unlucky and they'll perform their jumping claw. They're just so excellently designed too, it's no wonder they keep appearing. The RE3 hunters weren't much (well, besides the Gammas), but the ones in Code Veronica were even tougher than the ones in REmake/RE1. Plus someone decided to lace a few with poison.

2. Licker. Although I would say they're easier to avoid than hunters, there are enough times when they have the drop on you. Like any great enemy, it's not easy to predict what they'll do in alert mode. What puts them above hunters for me is that they'll get multiple swipes with each round fired. Then the sickle-lickers come along. Like Ivys, they're one of the RE2 monsters that could ruin a speedrun. When you turn on the power for that elevator towards then end of scenario B, the two seem to work simultaneously. Thanks to a double jump-swipe, no A rank for me.

1. Nemesis. I barely ever get to beat RE3 these days, because I decide not to run into the station during the first fight with him. I end up misjudging distance/not dodging/running adjacent to his left hand/not mashing buttons enough. Gotta love how about 10-20 minutes into the game, you're treated with a boss fight wherein the slightest slip up gets you fucked. Dude doesn't usually let you get up. This makes me want to get into some kind of dodge function training. I was never able to get it right.

Maybe next I should make a list of my favorite monsters from a narrative context. Then we'll see who has no life

Leach man- resident evil outbreak (friggin stalker comes out of nowhere!)

Crimson head- resident evil 1 (damn they are FAST)

Licker- resident evil 2 (Where the hell do they pop up from?)

Axe man- resident evil outbreak file# 2 (No comment...)

Lion- resident evil outbreak file# 2 (Simba WHY!?)

Stalker- resident evil outbreak file# 2 (Mufasa you had it coming)

Eleminators- resident evil zero (reminds me of the movie Kongo)

I think the leech men are scary too, I'd probably make them #11. I really wanted to include them on my top ten but there wasn't enough room.

The eliminators are also really freaky.

In no real order.

Leech man from Outbreak #1. I wound up killing the original, but was not aware that one of my partners had died, thus turning them into one. I panicked through that whole chapter because of the sheer dread that if I stuck around for too long I would hear that grate sound that indicated it was there. And it did in almost every single room. It freaked the hell out of me.

Nemesis. The first time I played that game and walked down the stairs, hearing that sound and the music change, I stood there for a good two minutes going "oh balls oh balls." And when I finally moved and he crashed through that window, OH FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU. But no it didn't stop there. I yelled, ran through a door and went "phew!" LITTLE DID I KNOW. Hearing the door open and seeing a rocket INCHES FROM MY HEAD and hearing him made me sdjkldskljskl so much. I had no idea he could follow you and he's still probably my favorite RE monster ever.

Crimson Heads, because after all the other RE games where you had a good idea of zombies and how they worked, THOSE show up and RUN and JUMP and oh god I'm boned.

10. Zombies

Every game I've faced these, there has ALWAYS been at least one point where I was backed into the corner with 3 of em on my ass and having very limited ammo. Heh, they don't even come close to bothering me now but I do remember when I was little and I'd play RE1 or RE2, every time I'd see a zombie, I'd freak out, so these guys definitely deserve a spot on my list.

9. Cerberus

Well, I guess I can say it all started with these damn things jumping through the windows, along with the one also that comes through the front door in the mansion if you try to open it.

8. Lickers

These thing's moans and almost "slump" like footsteps make me always aware when I'm in a room with one. I'll never forget my first encounter with it in RE2, when before you enter the next room, it crawls by the window on the outside. I nearly shat myself then and I remember dreading to go into the next room and eventually I finally got enough courage up to do it, only to freak out when it appeared in the cutscene and dropped down. Definitely one of my favorite enemies of all time in the series.

7. MA-121 Hunter

These things still get me all the time in REmake. I'll be casually walking along down a dark hallway with my trust shotgun, and of course, out of nowhere, one either jumps through the window or through the door and tackles me to the floor and I nearly shit myself. Not to mention that their shrieks and decapitation move can get to you if your not too careful.

6. Crimson Head

I'll never forget my first experience with these things. I remember hearing all about how terrifying these things were from other people before I actually saw one so that began to take a little toll, and then when I went to try to burn that zombie in the mirror hall and it's scripted to get up as a crimson head as soon as you bend down had me almost scream and then turn and run. These things made killing zombies to be a regretful experience sometimes.

5. Regenerators/Iron Maidens

I remember first fighting these things to be one of the most tense and scary encounters I've ever had. I wasted all my shotgun ammo just shooting away at it and it just would not die, and of course, like many other people I know that did the same, when I first fought it, I shot off one of its legs and tried to run past it.... Yeah that didn't work well. Also, just their breathing noises and the music that plays when they're around really makes my hair stand up on end sometimes.

4. Mimicry Marcus

I hate these things... I really hate these things. Every time I'd fight one in RE0, I'd never expect it to appear and of course when it'd appear, my volume would be loud as hell so the BGM that would blare would make me drop the controller sometimes. Not to mention as well that these things just take forever to die if you don't have molotov cocktails or a grenade launcher on you. Plus the fact that they can usually just appear out of nowhere makes me dread facing these things.

3. William "G" Birkin

I was terrified of this thing when I was younger. Every time I'd hear this roar or hear him walking around, I use to like freak out. Then when I would actually face him, I remember it being extremely tense and more of me just trying to survive than trying to actually fight him. His second to last "dog" form comes to mind.

2. Lisa Trevor

This bitch still manages to spook me out a little bit every time I hear that moan and the chains dragging. When I first got REmake, I did not know anything about Lisa Trevor, and I remember when I went to the back of the main hall and tried to open those 2 gates and heard her moan, I shut my gamecube off and stopped playing for a few hours. Not to mention every time I actually saw her, I actually felt like I was a goner.

1. Nemesis T-Type

I had so much nightmares of this guy when I first played RE3. Just the feeling that you'd get that he was actually stalking you throughout the streets of Raccoon City was both amazing and terrifying at the same time. Just his relentless lust to kill Jill Valentine was scary enough as he KEPT coming back, no matter how many times you defeated him. Of course, I've had my share of moments where I'd run out of an area thinking I'm safe, I turn the corner, and he bursts through the door and managing to make me scream bloody murder. That is why he hits number 1 on my list, no other enemy in the series I fear more than Nemesis.

There is only one B.O.W in the series that has genuinely scared me, to the point of needing to take break after facing them.
Lickers. I cant stand them. Every time i hear their hiss and the tick,tick,tick of their claws i start to panic. When i play Resident Evil 2, i know when they are going to jump out at me and still im terrified. When it comes to Lickers im a wuss, and i know it.

Wow, our lists are really similar. All the same creatures (except I included Tyrant and you included the leech man) but in a different order...

Looks like we feel exactly the same about a lot of the enemies in the games as our descriptions were very similar as well. haha

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something about these guys. If you ever play through zero on hard mode... these things are fucking INSANE. You pretty much CANT afford to fight any of them. If you do then you use up almost all of your ammo and you come out with very low health. There's an ridiculous shortage of health items in hard mode so you can't afford to get your health too low.

I'm playing through on hard mode right now actually and I am stuck at the part where you get the water emblem key and revisit the training facility. There's that whole eastern wing that has a mimicry marcus in almost every room... needless to say I have been dying over and over... and it kind of makes me dread playing because I know I have to face them . XD

well, my first scare in RE i think was when i played RE4 the first time in my life as a demo in gamestop, the very beginning the music was supper creapy for my age (12-13) and i was low on health, the cutscene where the guy swings his axe at you, i was like oly shiz!! he swung dat at meh!!!

but the jump moments are tied between many incodents between the lickers, crimson heads, and cerberus's

... i think the crimson heads where scarrier cause i think i peed myself the firstime that one dead body thats just sitting there you keep passing it, i thought it was there for looks and decor. but little did i know i run/walk past it it rose up so frakin fast and jumped at me i liturally scream like a betch and pissed my pants...

i think i wrote about it in other thread once, someone told me the names lol

i think the number one jumper is the hunters in the updated RE game, the first time they jumped through the windows i dropped my GC controller from jumping off my bed and died cause i was yelling so hard i forgot to pick it back up ... ah good times XD
