Hmm, the series has had a melee fighting style (1st and 3rd games), and this one is a sequel to the first one, since the third was actually a prequel.

Dante did fight a bio weapon in the first game, so it should be interesting if "Nightmare"'s powers affected one of his arms. Eight days to go. Can't wait to see the final design; the model in the trailer was a placeholder.

EDIT: Someone pointed out that it might be Vergil (his twin), who spent a great while in the underworld and is the "evil one". He's also playable and an integral part of the storyline. Notice how the sword in the logo looks almost like it's part of his arm.

Whoa, a little too close to just be coincidence.

Oops, it just hit me.. the melee weapons are referred to as "devil arms". The text could be referring to one of his sword. That's another possibility.

Not disagreeing, just throwing around some speculation until next week. But yeah, the Japanese text is clearly speaking of his actual arm.

It'd be interesting to see how this is integrated into the gameplay.

Well, I guess capcom is just looking for something practical, like a pre-made script.

                Few details emerged in Famitsu:

                - The game is a sequel to the original, but takes places before DMC2.

                - Vergil is the protagonist in his "Nelo Angel" form.

                - The frame rate is 60Hz.

                - There is a special attack using the protagonist's right arm called "Devil Bringer". They're devil "supers" if you will.

And apparently, these "arm attacks" were not able to be handled by the PS2. Maybe it's a summon of some sort? =/

And it's Nero, not Nelo. So I'm wondering if it is indeed Vergil or just a mistranslation?

Nero/Nelo whatever.. IS Vergil. I take it you haven't played DMC3.

Dante, the cast in DMC 1-3 will turn to be evil side, to be rival and in turn, there will be a cast which players can play in but not dante.

not that it matters, but it is Nelo

edit: Leon's left arm was the one that was infected according the unearthed 3.5 pics

editt: can someone rip the song from the DMC4 flash? wow. awesome.

                          edittt:

seeing this makes me know that this prototype / beta has existed at some point in a playable form.

Its probably Nero, KLAUSER! XD But yeah apparently the story is:

Nero is part of this cult that worships Dante's father. They all worship in this city, and one day Dante shows up and starts killing all the followers.

Nero (not Nelo apparently) isn't Vergil.. rather, isn't him right now. The basic story so far is that Nero is part of a brotherhood that's trying to unlock the curse of Sparda, and surprise, Dante is there to stop them.

You do get to play as Dante as well (in-game model *not cutscene* was shown in a tour video). You either get to play both evil (Nero) and good sides, or there is more to it than the simple premise.
