I believe Dash was "Return to Spencer Mansion". I guess some of it survived the self destruct sequence. I don't think there are many details about it though.
Pretty much what Enrico said. There once was talk of a sequel to RE1 that would be focused on parts of the mansion still standing intact. Not a whole lot of details available, probably 'cause it was just someone's initial idea, but I vaguely seem to recall the little stuff there is mentioning the main threat being plants (TENTACLE RAPE!), but don't quote me on that.
Nothing ever really came of it. Project went no where. Probably never even had a single line of code written for itself or a decision as far as what the gameplay would be like made. Guess they must've figured it'd be more interesting to let things spread to Raccoon City instead.
I vaguely remember that being mentioned somewhere as well. Plant 42 had somehow survived or germinated or similar plant sprung up was the idea. Can't remember clearly, since the last time I heard or talked about dash was when Dark Legacy was still up.I vaguely seem to recall the little stuff there is mentioning the main threat being plants
Survivhor's still got their Dash segment up. It's in French (of course), but it lists their source of the info and everything (as in everything there probably ever was to know about this project/idea, incl. the plants, I believe.);
Survivhor - Resident Evil: Dash
Thanks man but im still none the wiser....is this literally all that is known about it?
ahhhh right
One of us seriously need to get a high ranking position at capcom and gain access to their evil vaults even if its just to confirm these drafts and trials still exist! or become bill gates rich and just grease some palms!
It eats me up that these games never really seen the light of day when you think about some of the crap capcom has actually released!!

Here is what I wrote in previous topics in THIA, about Dash:
From what I know, Dash never get past the concept stage. The game's idea was abandoned when Capcom realized that producing Dash will delay the production of BH 2.
The only information I could find about Dash comes from Yoshiki Okamoto who was Shinji Mikami's boss. Mikami, Kobayashi or anyone else never talked about Dash [maybe they are not allowed too, by some NDA? Makes me wonder how many more RE game ideas ware cancelled without us knowing about them ;) ].
Translation of my SurvivHor page:
About BH Dash, from an interview of Yoshiki Okamoto to Genki Playstation [japanese magazine].
"BH Dash was conceptualized between BH1 and BH2. The main idea behind this game is the existence of a room under Tyrant's final lab room. The game story is scheduled 3 years after BH1. Characters in Dash are different then BH1's. Infected plants attack Raccoon residents. Victims turn into plants too. After a while, it seems that everybody is transformed into a plant.
Capcom's developers wanted to use BH1 backgrounds but make them looks older (with cracks, spider-web and so on) and also create new rooms.
Dash was cancelled because the game development would have been too long and delay BH2 own development."
[[[ Please, bare in mind that it took me YEARS to find these tidbits of information and there is nothing else known about Dash. Nobody but Capcom know more details about the game. Thus, please don't ask about how many characters were in the game, what kind of virus was used and so on because nobody but Capcom can answer these questions]]]
It seems that the Ivy creature from BH2 comes straight from Dash:

and following.
These 2 concept arts, from The True Story Behind Biohazard book may be from Dash - look at the spider web everywhere. When the book is supposed to be only about BH1, these 2 rooms are not part of the game.

Pretty much.
Capcom's got a pretty good record of making sure that "most" of their sequels use their prequels to sweep the floor with. There are of course exceptions and a good few sequels that haven't quite been up to snuff, but for most of their big franchises they've always made sure they've had a good thing going and that if something's not entirely good enough, they keep what they felt worked and scraps/restructures everything else.
Or that's when we get the awesome inverted haters. Those who hate upon those who released it. 'Cause they "ruined the mystery." (Yeah. Those people exist. They've crawled out after every single major release of an unreleased title and bitched about how things were better before they got to see the game.)
yeah i understand what hes saying but lets be honest(im really not jumping on the bandwagon its my honest opinion)1.5 had alot of good stuff we never got to see like, armor, different weapons,a little more variety with the a.i of zombies(their ability to climb ledges and the varied speed of some),the fact that the police station was not just a mansion done up to look like a police station, new monsters and a completely different existence for most of the characters which might of kept the story more resident evil than mass produced action!!!
well not necessarily they were seen in trailers and artwork for the game, fair enough we never got to experience them first hand but it just looked like a more entertaining package instead of basically re1 with different characters and a mansion that looked like a police staton!!
