"They" tend to not take kindly to ignorance and immaturity. If you don't like it, you don't have to post here anymore.

What Rosetta and CR29 said. Honestly, do you think they would have said anything had they not know the story he was referring to? They don't jump on them for nothing. They merely state what should be said.

Was it funny when those two kids from Columbine shot their school up? Or when the planes crashed into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon? This is in the same vein. It was an attack on a government building with the intent to kill innocent people.

Saying that we like to jump on people for little things? That's NOT fucking little at all. If someone finds that shit funny, they're a piece of shit and don't even deserve to be considered human.

...Yes, because "Remember the guy who flew a plane into a building because he thought his taxes were too high? " is something I'm just supposed to like seeing. People could've died. Forgive me for not liking that.

Once again with the name calling. Jeez. It doesn't matter if you disagree with someone, you don't need to jump on their asses and be mean about it. Just say I don't think that's funny. Or say something angrily to them outside of the thread if you feel compelled to do so. Oh, and of course someone HAD to mention to 911 thing. I wish people would be quiet about all that stuff that happened years ago. Yeah it sucked, but there's no sense in bringing it up constantly. It just reopens old wounds that need to heal.

That's because it was a serious fucking deal. How immature are you that you think an incident that killed many, ruined lives, and spiraled a nation into a war can be something people can simply "get over"? You're naive, kid. People on this forum have had their lives affected by 9-11. People on this forum know people that were killed. Why dont you get over trying to play forum diplomacy and leave that stuff to the mods that actually know what they are doing?

That 9/11 "thing," huh? How absolutely adorable.

That 9/11 "thing" that killed over three thousand people and changed the landscape of our country and the world forever. That 9/11 "thing" that ruined the lives of countless children who lost their fathers and mothers, and subsequently even MORE lives of families who lost their loved ones in the subsequent wars overseas.

You know, that 9/11 "thing" that leaves my Uncle Richie, a NYPD traffic officer who saved dozens of lives on that day, with many health problems including a surgery on his shoulder that he just had a few weeks ago, and the irreperable lung damage from the inhalation of soot when the Towers collapsed.

Yeah, and that 9/11 "thing" that lead my Uncle Chris, my Uncle Richie's brother, to re-enlist in the Army to defend his country's honor and, in his own words, 'seek a little bit of revenge for my brother,' and serve two tours in Iraq as a Military Policeman, losing friends and comrades, and a tour in Guantanamo Bay Prison where the detainees would try revolting on Christmas morning...all the while his piece of shit wife was cheating on him at home and ruining their family while he risked his life day in and day out.

You talk about re-opening wounds that need to heal? Think about that the next time you make such a completely fucking rudely insensitive comment.

...all because of that 9/11 "thing." Get a fucking clue, you insensitive cretin.

I can say whatever I want just like the two of you can. I tried taking this mess out of the thread, but was told to shut up. So now I'm back.

No. I'm not trying to be a mod. You can take offense to things others said, so fine. I then have a right to take offense to what you have said.

I just don'tlike people automatically judging others. Sorry if offended you, but everyone offends others at some point accidentally.

While you may feel I'm insensitive, immature, or a cretin, that's fine, it is your opinion. I personally disagree. There is no need for name calling. I'm sorry about your uncle, but his cheating wife had nothing to do with 911, and I wasn't the one who brought that whole fiasco up to begin with.

How come when someone disagrees on this site they are automatically attacked? And those who attack don't seem to get punished?

@ the article itself: Wow. I know she shouldn't have done that to the desk (and probably should have been punished), but getting arrested!?!? That's strange.

@ the arguments: kind of scary. Not even just off-topic, now, just plain scary. Seems like this can turn into something worse than a debate. Sorry, just wanted the say the arguments kind of got out of hand. :|

I agree. Hence, why I tried to take it out of the thread. I was told to shut up. This whole thread and the mean comments have been reported to the mods.

^ They're only attacked when they're making incredibly rude comments like Kevstah's. Or more recently, yours. As CR29 said, 9/11 wasn't just a "thing". Dunno if you noticed, but we've been at war for nine years because of it. It single-handedly started the war on terror. Thousands died in the initial plane crashes, and tens of thousands in the following years of war. It's not just a "thing".

And I try not to judge (as you did apologize), but... that just seemed so off-color.

Sorry for jumping you like that. But it's a very, very touchy subject in which one should expect to get lots of mixed replies from when talked about.

Quick word of advice: When people are being complete jerks to you, don't be a complete idiot and reply back to them and keep the argument going. You're just as bad as they are. Try to stay on topic, and stop accusing others of being off topic. I might as well report you for doing what they were doing.

As for the topic, seriously, isn't that a tad overboard? Just for scribbling on a desk? I am so glad I have nothing to do with the American school system.

Thank you very much for being civil. I meant no offense with my statements about 911. I just try not to think about it as it only causes trouble. As for the war that followed, most of those deaths could have been avoided. That's another fiasco that I don't want to discuss, as I'll only get screamed at some more if I disagree with anything stated about it.

Oh and to Ashford - Yeah I know, thank you for the advice. I just get angry when I basically get attacked and am not allowed to say anything in retaliation. It just doesn't seem fair.

Trying to downplay a major event in a country many people on this site live in is a stupid thing to do. No one makes light of bombings in other countries. You are trying to "defend" someone that is perfectly capable of making their own posts. You did start shit by saying we were overreacting. And yes, you were trying to backseat mod.

Saying people may not have known the story behind the suicide into the IRS building is rubbish. Some people on this site actually watch the news. It wasn't funny. Then you come along and try to play peacemaker, and then bitch when people disagree with you. Suddenly, we're attacking you. It seems harsh, because the issue that started this is something many people take seriously, and are hot tempered about. Then, calling 9-11 a "thing" really pushed people over the edge. Go back to living in your naive little world, and stop trying to turn yourself into a victim.

And if you dislike what we say, here's some advice: Ignore it. Use the fucking ignore user button so you dont have to deal with it. If you don't like it but dont want to ignore us, dont post. That will end shit right there.

Ive been called a troublemaker, a troll, a stubborn person who argues for the lulz of it, an asshole and someone with no manners. Ive literally been to "internet wars" if I count all my RE4 arguments on RE forums for many of which Ive literally been banned for.

Then I see this thread, where a group of forum regulars, some with extremely high post counts obviously showing experience with any situation, are completely outraged and infuriated over what is essentially a half-assed, illmannered joke. Personally, I fount it funny. Not the situation, but the phrazing "because his taxes were too high". And then it basically spirals into a massive witchunt on those who misphraze the simpliest concepts (like "the 9/11 thing").

I love Americans, I love their amazing rich language, their humour, their people. But this thread can easily be connected to the original topic, about mindless overreacting to simple and human mistakes. I react to this thread the same way some of you reacted to the original post.

Surely you realised that being so dismissive about the September 11th attacks you'd raise the ire of alot of people. I'm not American, but your ignorant comments were so wide reaching that I felt the need to address them.

What happened that morning was the first attack in a war against not America, but the entire 'Western' ideology, and freedom. There is no comprimise or reason with these attackers. They are united not as a nation, but under ideals. You can keep putting your pillow over your ears and ignore what's going on in the world, but to ignore the contributions that brave people of my country and others make to keep these mentalists at bay is just plain rude (I can think of much more colourful language, but I'll restrain myself).

If these people had their way, you wouldn't even be able to make such ignorant and inflammatory comments on a message board. You'd be assimilated or executed. Have you even heard of Sharia law?? Here's a taste for you.

A husband has the moral and religious right and duty to beat his wives for disobedience or for perceived misconduct. A woman does not have the right to choose her husband, or her place of residence, to travel freely or have freedom in her choice of clothing. Women have little or no autonomy and are deemed to need the protection of their fathers, husbands or other male relatives throughout their lives. Any conduct that undermines the idea of male supremacy will fall foul of the Sharia.

For fuck's sake...I can barely breath and I wake up to this? I am so killing someone in this thread. I'm taking them out and I'm beating the fuck out of them until they die. And then I'm selling there corpse off so I can at least get some benefit out of it.

I don't care why you decided to insult someone. I don't care why you're feeling upset. You people know the rules of the forum and you know full well that this shit doesn't fly. No, the initial joke was not funny. I've met a few people who've been maimed by crazy ass attacks, such as the IRA bombing sprees. There is never anything funny about people dying. And I generally agree with the views on 9/11...it was an event that changed the world, and everyone in it. Mostly for the worst. Holding people without trial, torture, inhuman living conditions...all things the Western World has done to win a war in the name of our freedom, our rights. Too many of our leaders and soldiers have been turned into exactly what they're supposed to be fighting by this thing.

But you folks know how to behave, and chose not to. I'm not gonna punish anyone because I appreciate the high emotions in this thread, but I swear by my black and vile heart that if any of you start this crap again I will rack up every infraction you've made in this thread and slap them all on you. Which means quite a few people will be taking a holiday.

    On a side note...

That is...one interpretation. A lot of Muslims reject that idea though. Certainly the ones I know. Until relatively recently, women had more rights under Sharia law than they would have under American or British law. When Britain took over several areas it involved such things as stripping women of the property and status they had.

It's worth remembering that the majority of Muslims are like anyone else...they just want to live there every day lives and have no desire to see Western civilization collapse and burn. It's an extreme group of lunatics that do this shit.

Pretty much this. The general train of thought that makes someone go from from the discovery "My taxes are too high!" to the point where something like; "This is it! It's really happening! Too late to turn back!" is running through the head of a person is absolutely ridiculous, bonkers, and borderline incomprehensible to every single person in the universe.

One thing is laughing at the concept, it's of course a completely different matter when it's laughing at the actual risk or a potentially terrifying outcome.

Pretty much. People have a strange habit of taking offense from all sorts of stupid stuff... Why? 'Cause they can! (or have some sort of "License to be offended")

Anyway, in all seriousness; the moment you stop being able to make jokes about things is when you're one step closer to going in the same direction as the simple stupidity that has lead to all the recent weird ass religion driven commotion triggered by caricature drawings of Muhammad (the prophet. Not the boxer.) (See? I could do that without bringing in... GAH!)

    Sure. There's an issue of tact and tone when it comes to humor and what to joke about and what not (or when and where). But people sure as hell have no problem bringing out the big guns at a party the moment someone say something that (in this case even accidentally) hits a bit too close to home. Not everyone knows your entire life story. To some people, it's even their keen sense of black humor that helps keep 'em going (with a positive attitude) after something terrible has happened to them. Anyway, I can't seem to figure out how to say what I wanted to get at with that, so I'll just end it with;

It's all a matter of not taking offense from everything and anything, and not deliberately trying to offend people (evt. by just being straight out ignorant).
