The gameplay looks awesome, looks like they're really evolved it from the first game, and the teaser trailer is pretty cool. I think a certain company might have shoved some mighty big bucks into Gabe Newells pocket to get him to say a rather big thing to perhaps make people forget about how buggy Orange Box was on their system. Just a theory.

Well I had my doubts about where they could go with this game and to my surprise it does look like they have thought up some new and interesting puzzle mechanics.Originally Posted by GLaDOS
Though my only concern is that it may become a bit too fast paced with flash "Dodge the laser security" solutions. You know all flashy and gimmicky.
But I'm eagerly awaiting this now.

I sometimes like to describe sequels as "glorified expansion packs."
I feel that what we've seen of Portal 2 is kinda threading a bit much into that territory. The mechanics we've seen now seem to heavily rely on timing and various quirky things you'd do in Portal 1 when you were doing speed attacks or other sorts of challenges, but then again... trailers usually are deliberately packed with so much action that you get a false impression of how much of it there really is in the actual product. (Kinda like how almost all trailers and DVD inlays for The Man From Earth features the scene with the gun )
Don't get me wrong, though, there are some really cool features being displayed in the trailer (I especially like the vacuum cleaner-ish thing. Physics + Carn = Funtime)

I know what you mean by "Expansion pack" though to be fair Sonic 2 was essentially an expansion of Sonic 1.
I just hope it isn't all fast paced, kind of removes the fun for me if it is.
If you want it to be the best version of the game, then make it keyboard and mouse compatible. Until then, the 360 will do me fine thanks. Would need a lot more "Steam elements" than simply being able to pick up my game save on a seperate PS3.
Don't you see the potential in cloud support?
People can go on a PC, copy saves, steam cloud them, then transfer them to every PS3 in the world and unlock all trophies, at once.
Best version ever - trophy whores rejoice!
The incorporation of Tag's mechanics seems very nice. I am hyped!
Hi late to the party just got Orange Box yesterday and spent five hours on Portal haven't touched EP1/2 yet but had to say I'm already loving the look of Portal 2 I assume it'll be download only for 360 . . .
No it won't.
Portal 2 is going to be much bigger than the first game.
Yeah. Did i hear right that the main game is twice as long, and then the co-op campaign is the same length?
I would imagine so.
They are charging 60$ so it has to be longer than Portal1.
By the time it launches i'll have my gaming PC though, so it would be of interest if it does crossover.
If PCs and PS3s can play with eachother, you'd have to figure it wouldn't be that hard to make saves work with eachother.
Like i said, keyboard and mouse is key to making the PS3 the superior version. Not enough games take advantage of the option.
I'm so intrigued to see if Valve do more with Steam on the PS3. You'd have to think the next L4D game will head to PS3 now?
Maybe (if there will ever be a L4D3 during PS3's lifecycle that is).
When they announced Portal for Mac they promised that all of their future games will come to Mac OS. There was no such announcement for PS3.
Compare this statement: http://store.steampowered.com/news/3569/
to this: http://www.valvesoftware.com/news/We are treating the Mac as a tier-1 platform so all of our future games will release simultaneously on Windows, Mac, and the Xbox 360.
I think that Portal 2 for PS3, is a test...
Recently I've read an interview where they were asked if they will bring the allready released L4D games to the PS3 and they said that it's possible, but right now there are no other plans for PS3, just Portal 2.
