The trailer from the WonderCon event has leaked and can be viewed here. A proper trailer is expected to be released via MySpace later as well. Watch the trailer here.
- Milla Jovovich was happy to return for the fourth film (and is ready to do many more), pointing out that in this evil world we live in, Resident Evil films are very appropriate.
- Jovovich labeled this new film a "a great, fun story," with lots of butt-kicking and fight scenes.
- The actors and Anderson believe the series is so successful because they're all passionate about the source material, and because the studio is really behind them all the way. "Sony spent more money than ever before on this franchise," said Anderson about the fourth film's budget. Jovovich added, "All the actors just loved the games." She also pointed out that because they're fans of the games, they come at the material from a fan's point of view.
- Ali Larter gave the audience a little hint of what's in store with the fourth film, saying, "This one is almost the closest to the video game." There's even a fight scene of Larter's in Afterlife that's literally from the game.
- Asked about films that are converted to 3-D in post-production and those that are shot in 3-D, Anderson bluntly stated that the quality is better when it's shot in 3-D to begin with. Anderson explained the difference by comparing the two processes to Dom Perignon versus paint stripper. Both will get you wasted, but one is an infinitely better experience.
- The brother/sister relationship between Claire and Chris (played by Wentworth Miller) will be explored in Afterlife, and a lot will be revealed about their relationship.
- Anderson was asked if they will expand on the Claire and Chris relationship in future films. His response: "That's a classified secret of the Umbrella Corporation."
Bring on the hates who are gonna bash this trailer.
Reporting for duty
Doesn't really look promising. I'm not sure what Alice's over-arcing goals are, but it's probably to bring Wesker to justice? (Though I'm not even sure what Wesker could have done, since the creator of the virus was in Apocalyspe, and the guy who leaked it in the hive died in #1, no idea how Wesker could really be responsible. Providing funding maybe?) But the problem is that Wesker was only introduced, very briefly, in the third film. And in his breif appearance, he didn't do anything particularly villainous. I don't know how Anderson will juxtapose his audience to dislike Wesker, and as a matter of fact, I'm guessing he probably won't bother, and hope that the pretty 3D effects and boobies dazzle everyone.

It might be fun, but it hardly looked like a "Resident Evil" title. All I saw was lot of slow-motions, butt-kicking, explosions and guns. And no "evil residents"
Really, I think the films are a lot like the games. Slowly heading in the 'action' direction, rather then the 'horror' direction. It's sad, really. They could have done great things with these films. And taking scenes directly from the games doesn't make things cooler, it just means they're less creative. Especially considering the story is completely original. Now, if these films were even remotely based on the game events, that might be acceptable.
I also cringe at the notion of future Resident Evil titles. With each new Resident Evil title, comes a new Resident Evil character to be ruined. At this rate, it's only a matter of time before they start bringing in more of the Umbrella side...
wow this actualy looks like a pretty entertaining film. So i gues they are using the las plagas now then or maybe theyve mixed that up and the majini/ganados are just advanced zombies?
All I saw was a thousand different shots of Milla.
I feel bad that it looks so lame but then again its nice that I dont have to swallow my own words because I was right in thinking this movie is going to be more trash.
Sorry if your a fan and your looking forward to it but dont trailers usually show the best parts? All I saw was Milla. No Chris? Litterally like 2 shots of Wesker, No Jill? No Claire?
I was more entertained by the idiots watching the trailer, WOOOOO YEAH!!! WOOOOO YEAH!!! WOOOOOOOOO!! YEEEEEAAAAHHHHHH!!! SHOW IT AGAIN! LMFAO. WOOOOOO!!!
I didn't see a single zombie in that trailer but I did see Las Plagas coming out of a mouth (RE5 style). Unless said Plagas was from the Executioner (probably not but who knows) I wonder what's going on... doesn't look that great so far.
After all they managed to turn 90% of the population on Earth in zombies between the second and third... maybe now they're all gone and replaced by Las Plagas.
Wasn't this supposed to be the last movie? They're hinting at more ><
The actors and Anderson believe the series is so successful because they're all passionate about the source material,
How absurd, especially when followed by:
- Ali Larter gave the audience a little hint of what's in store with the fourth film, saying, "This one is almost the closest to the video game." There's even a fight scene of Larter's in Afterlife that's literally from the game.
Since when does Ali know what the games are like? She didn't even know what Capcom was after finishing filming on Extinction.
... I feel like I'm watching Ultraviolet all over again meshed with "Resident Evil"...
I mean, honestly - weapons up the yin-yang much?
Also, this "Wesker"'s eyes disgust me - sure, they glow however it's specfically the iris that has colour, as well as the pupil due to the mutation (see my old/quick photomanip here. Not the sclera (white section) of his eyes. (Over the top special effects and/or makeup?)
Of course in the end - it's all about not getting any sort of hopes up considering the past ones, sure they're a "re-imagining" of the franchise but personally in the end it's switching your mind off and watching yet another mindless action movie...
I mean, I've sat through them all (I've got the DVDs, not to mention ended up with Ultraviolet too) and it doesn't look appealing, most interesting thing about the trailer, was the guys shouting out "WESKER!" in the couple of shots we see him in, oh and the old song from RE Apocalypse - Various Artists' soundtrack A Perfect Circle's "The Outside (Resident Renholder Mix)".
Also, got to agree with Smiley and Jill Lover.
Zombie Fred - that's what I shall be doing as well as trying to resist counting the amount of times I facepalm in annoyance.
Additionally as I said I would to Smiley once the trailer was released....
