Great show, I just started watching last night. Saw the first episode online and was amazed. Then the second came on AMC, it was alright but I was Spoiler:
pissed off over the lame "affair" thing going on between the Sheriff's deputy and his wife at the beginning of it. It really isn't necessary to put stupid sex scenes, I doubt anyone would be having sex during a zombie outbreak anyway when a zombie could just sneak up from behind and chomp.... Well if I wanted to see people having sex I'd rent a porno film basically.
I hate to say it but, I hope towards the end of the show his wife and his deputy both get bitten or something, they deserve it.
Spoiler:
The wife deserves to die for the sole fact she cheated on her husband.
The deputy deserves to die for the sole fact he betrayed his damn best friend...
You haven't read the comics then. For one...she originally slept with him, I believe, just once, and regretted it afterwards. And two...she had given her husband up for dead. It's a zombie outbreak and the survivors are doing what they can to remain sane and feel human. And the deputy is doing what he thinks to be the right thing...caring for his best friend's family. They both believe he is dead, so in their eyes they aren't cheating Rick.
If you have to know...(MAJOR SPOILER) Spoiler:
She does get killed. Same with the child she bears the man that is not her husband. Shotgunned down while trying to escape an attack on what they believed was a safe place to live. Lori and the baby girl die. Hope you enjoy it.

This. What do you think the significance of her taking the necklace with her wedding band on it off of her neck was about? She's trying to move on, thinking that Rick is dead. The scene in the first episode where Rick is telling him about the problems he's having with his wife has so much more weight now after the sex scene from last night.
Also, for future reference, I didn't read the comics and would appreciate all spoilers tagged(like Rosetta did) or just left out of this thread in general because this thread isn't about the comics, it's about the TV show. If you know what happens, that's great...but I'd like to be surprised by the greatness that is this TV show.
Love this show. So addicted to it, and it has some incredible potential.
Just a quick question for those who read the comics. Is it unfolding exactly as it did in the comics? Because I also watch true Blood, and they switch things up from the novels, but still remain on the same kind of story plot from the books.

I've only seen the first episode (it's shown on Fridays here) but so far, no, it's not 100% the same. The difference's aren't huge, but they are there. Such as;
Spoiler:
Rick ending up stuck in the tank at the end of episode one, the mom zombie, Rick being shot with a pistol rather than a shotgun, the police station being low on stuff (they actually return there late in the comic, since Rick still has the key)...and few other little details.
I didn't even know there was a comic until seeing this thread. I haven't read comics since 1999 so that says a lot...
If you change your mind, this and Y the Last Man (another series that really could do with a TV show) are great places to start. Avoid Crossed, unless you have a strong stomach. While it falls into the same post apocolyptic/humans have become ravenning monsters type thing, it's...well, it's enough to make me feel ill on occasion.
Even Mods can double post! Difference is, I look sexy doing it.
I just watched the second episode. It was...interesting. Not the direction I was expecting, what with them only having six episodes to play with.
And now, a more detailed and spoiler laden thought process.
Spoiler:
Basically, very little of that happened in the comic. Rick and Glenn escape the city in about four panels. Andrea is the only other comic character there, and was introduced back at the camp instead. The other three or four are new. The scene where they use zombie guts to get through the crowd and then get rained on also happened, but a bit later, when they were doing a big supply run to get more stuff for there escape.
I must admit, I was a touch disapointed mostly. It was a bit of a nothing episode, only serving to introduce characters that are likely to die horribly soon anyway. Given the comic's cast I don't imagine the TV show origionals lasting very long. The story would not be significantly different (at least, so far, with the obvious exception that the brother in camp is gonna kick up a fuss about his idiot, racist brother being left to die horribly) if they'd followed the comic more closely and gotten out of the city more easily. With only six episodes (and maybe a second series, which apparently hasn't been as confirmed as previously hoped) they really can't afford to do another of these.
Under a bridge in a far away land. Postcards welcome!

Spoiler:
Yeah, I've heard from many press saying the second episode was the weakest of them all, but they did everything is back on track with episode three. Not that it wasn't a terrible episode in any kind, it was still good and enjoyable, but there are a few things that were poorly presented. Still I can't wait to the resume pacing back on track! Best thing about this episode was Glen of course.
Oh, yes, it was certainly entertaining. It simply didn't have enough in it for it to be a episode all on it's own, no with so few episiodes in total to play with. There's a lot of plot to this series, after all. Plus seeing which cliff hanger they're gonna end it on. If I had to guess, I'd assume it will be;
Spoiler:
When they find the prison. I imagine season 2, if it comes, will be life there...and the Governor. Evidence pure evil can walk on two legs.
I hope that all the non-comic characters die in the "rescue mission" to get Dixon. Their presence was unnecessary, and give to the camp a look of "great group of survivors" that doesn't exist in the comics.
Wait wait wait...only three episodes left of this season? Damn...no wonder they approved of a second already. I was hoping for a longer run. Perhaps season two will have more.
Episode 3 was much better. I guess I take back my original statement about the wife seeing what she said to Shane.
Spoiler:
What did you guys think about the ending of EP3? Murtle obviously sawed off his hand, so I'm guessing they'll find him lurking around the city if he isn't already dead.
Keep in mind, I did NOT read the comic so don't spoil anything for me. I'd rather watch the show without knowing what's going to happen to the cast!
I have the first 2 episodes recorded but I haven't watched them yet. I've heard nothing but good reviews and all my friends say I'd love it so I'll watch them tomorrow after school.

Yeah, season one is only six episodes. Apparently, season two has now been confirmed (when I was looking up stuff a couple of weeks back it was only a strong possibility, not confirmed as first believed) for 12 or 13 episodes. Which, depending on exactly how they do things, could cover a lot of the comic.
I must admit, I'm rather surprised in how things are developing. During the build up and the first episode I think I got into the mindset that, unlike most things based on other things, this one was going to follow the origional storyline very closely. However, that only seems to be because all the stuff from the build up that I saw came from episode one, and that one did follow it pretty closely. So now they're doing things a bit differently, it's throwing me off a little. That's my fault, though, not theres and so I'm trying to not allow it to colour my enjoyment of the show. It's hard to work out if I don't like certain things because they feel off due to knowing the comic's plot, and if they're off due to just being meh.
I still can't help but feel the pacing of the show is off, somehow, like they're really dragging this whole part out a lot. Maybe I'm just looking too much to the future. It was much better than last week though, where I felt much of the episode was somewhat unnesecery. If I'm completely honest, I think episodes two and three could probably have been done in one episode without any huge loss to the plot and pacing.
I'm not sure if they're trying to make Rick a little more sympathetic. In the comics, at least to me recollection, he wanted to return to the city entirely for guns (in that case, for a great deal more guns...they wanted to raid a whole gunshop) where as here it was two thirds saving people. If they are, they need to be very careful. Rick's later personality changes are interesting and very, very realistic. But they don't make him sympathetic.
All told, I'm really enjoying the show. It's the only show I watch close to live (I'll allow the box to start recording so I can fast foward through the adverts, and then start watching) but the random small changes are just odd. Looks like next week might have some more, though. Still, it's better than simply having the same story retold via TV. Makes it so I'm not entirely certain what will happen.
Iīm in love with this series, itīs just to good to be true. Itīs zombies on my TV every week!! whatīs better than that??!
I must admit I onlly red like... half the comics, I got mixt up and... left them,... long story... so I donīt actually remember much of what hapened, onlly major things and locations... yes... LOCATIONs
