  • Very little Resident Evil 5 information

In a recent interview with Famitsu Xbox 360, Jun Takeuchi elaborated (slightly) on previously known information with the only new bit being that the title is likely going to see a 2008 release. I think that may come as no surprise to many of you. Some points of interest include:

    - They're still aiming for 60fps for the graphics with more emphasis on interactivity than previous titles.

    - Weather plays a major factor this time around of course, though he did mention cold weather as well (Lost Planet anyone?).

    - Like the target render (aka trailer), they've managed to include some muscles with the rendering of the faces thereby providing very realistic facial animations. Likewise, he's touting that the hair is realistically rendered with actual individual hairs from root to end.

Why does everyone want 60FPS? Wikipedia says that RE4 ran at 30fps, and tbh, it was fluid and beautiful. Maybe they should try to make a compromise, like optimize it to run at 45FPS instead and then get a little bit nicer graphics. It's like devil may cry 4 on PS3 (or is it 5?), why make the game run at 60FPS, when the game itself looks like an XBOX game or close to it. Hell, it doesn't even look as good as DOOM3, which came out what, 3 years ago?

Then again, maybe I'm alone in thinking this...

Well hey, Gran Tursimo HD Concept runs in 1080p at 60 fps ;) So you never know. A talented dev may be able to pull it off well. Personally Id welcome 60FPS, it would feel absolutely fantastic.
