  • Capcom Talks MT Framework 3DS and MT 2.0

Capcom are apparently really happy with the performance they're getting out of the 3DS. The forthcoming Resident Evil : Revelations is running on MT Framework Mobile and according to a recent technical breakdown Capcom are able to squeeze out similar bells and whistles from the 3DS as they were from the 360 and PS3. The article also talks about MT Framework 2.0, Capcom's revised engine for their console game development. Takeuchi ends the interview by saying that Capcom has some new surprises and announcements for TGS.

Some images of the various aspects of MT Framework Mobile after the jump. The full interview (Japanese) can be read here, and translated information via miladesn at Neogaf from the link below.

Neogaf users are going to have a field day with this one... they love this tech stuff to bits.

Well, this also puts to rest those that believed the 3DS was basically a PSP. 3DS is much more powerful - it needed to be in order to render a game twice.

Another rumor that the interview puts to rest, is the one about Revelations being the PSP Go game seen at E3 2009:

"Revelations is the first game to use MTFM, said Takeuchi. "[Revelations] is a completely new project that we started up after hearing about the 3DS. It's not a project that was progressing on separate hardware and was moved to the 3DS."

So that article seems to confirm two things:

          1) Revelations is not Portable, which means Portable may or may not still be in development for the PSP.

          2) If Portable is still in development for the PSP, it will not be using MT Framework.

Considering that it will be released 6 years after the release of PSP, and that even the iPhone can produce better graphics than the PSP ( http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...ios-blog-entry ) who the hell thought that it will be "basically a PSP"?

About every damn PSP apologist/fanatic does. That's why in almost every 3DS topic/thread available on the net, you'll find 3DS-PSP screencap comparisons. Users have to post these because some of them are not convinced that the 3DS is actually more powerful than a PSP. They use the new Kid Icarus game as an example. But Nintendo isn't exactly known for using shaders and next-gen technology. So efforts by 3rd party devs (like Capcom) will look better than what Nintendo delivers initially.

Besides in this interview Takeuchi says that in order to deliver the same game on a PSP system, it would need to be the next version of said handheld. Because it wouldn't be possible in the current version that already exists.

Exactly, and this is what I have speculated in the Resident Evil PSP thread I made a while ago. Nice to see confirmation by Capcom.

The graphic capabilities are really impressive for the 3DS. Might make me actually buy a handheld for the first time since my Game Boy Color from back in the day.

As for RE PSP. . .maybe it's been moved to the PSP2. . .

RE PSP was confirmed to still be in development a week or two ago at PAX. There was a Capcom live stream and one of the questions asked was if Revelations was indeed RE PSP moved on the 3DS. The answer was obviously no and they moved on saying that Portable is still in development.
Most likely TGS will have more info as well as new games announced.

the 3Ds game looks pretty promising but honestly making the psp game is just wast of time they should instead focuse on resident evil outbreak file 3 and resident evil 6

The 3DS? Only if this new game does well on it.

And the only way that will happen is if goes for sale at launch time. Since games that come out during that time window, tend to sell extremely well on a new console.
