Capcom & Sony Pictures Announce "Resident Evil : Damnation"

Capcom Japan today announced the sequel to Resident Evil : Degeneration, titled "Resident Evil : Damnation" currently scheduled for a 2012 release date in Japan. The movie will be CGI like the last one and also in 3D. Leon S Kennedy returns as the central character and one can imagine this movie will somehow tie into the future entries in the series. Ah Brilliant! I was hoping for a sequel like this . Since Leon is in the Film I gues that means we wont see him as a playable character in any of the games for a while which is good but I was hoping for Chris or some one else to be the main character or even Jill. Jill would have been more interesting as the main protagonist to be honest. At any rate thank you Capcom and Sony for making another one of these Brilliant work, sucks that we have to wait till 2012 though

Having just suffered Anderson's latest effort, this is much welcomed news ! Degeneration was great, and this one should only improve on that. I don't quite see though that this would totally remove the possibility of a Leon appearance in Biohazard 6.

Ok , stupid question: What does damnation mean?

This is good news, but I really really hope that when this game comes out, we also get to play it on a console. I also hope that the next RE title comes before 2012 .

Woah, great news. I was always hoping for another CGI film. (I'll ignore that 3D aspect.) My only concern is Leon once again being the star.

Don't get me wrong, I do prefer seeing him again over Jill and Chris (only because those two need to just retire as characters), but I was really hoping we'd get to see someone else in the starring role. Claire barely did anything in Degeneration...

Oh, well. I'll try to remain optimistic. After all, this could be a great opportunity to see Ada again and finally move forward with her lingering role in the storyline.

Hmmm. Could be better, could be worse. Leon starring again does put me off a little, but hopefully the makers listened to the complaints of the first one and will give him more personality and less super duper awesomeness.

Of course, in my world both the CGI and Live Action RE movies will be finished and there budget put to making new episodes of Firefly...

Just because Leon's in the lead doesn't mean to say the others won't be involved. Its about time we had an adventure where all Chris, Leon, Jill and Claire got together. It would make sense for Leon to team up with the BSAA at some point due to his past experiences.

Good news. Just hope they wont end up with another chick of the week thing going. (Okay, so Leon as a sort of James Bond-ish guy that saves the day and rejects the girl is a kinda neat formula.)

Lip sync in Degeneration was done "spot on" for the Japanese audio track - strangely enough (Since everyone knows Capcom loves their English). Guess you might have to blame Sony Pictures' involvement for that one. Would be neat if they'd either do a double render or just try to write the dialog better for both "main" languages.

This is great news. Hopefully Leon being the lead means someone else gets to star in RE6... possibly someone that hasn't been in the games for a while like Claire.
Jill and Chris already have Revelations, Leon in Damnation... that leaves Claire for 6.

Yay! I was hoping we'd get a sequel. I'm a little put off with Leon as the main character again but as people pointed out it doesn't necessarily mean other characters won't make an appearance. (Rebecca and Barry being obvious welcome choices!) looking forward to hearing more on this.
