Default Nintendo 3DS Released! (Also, Friend Codes here)

    Finally!

So who else picked it up? I'm not too enthralled by the launch title choices, but I love me some Nintendogs so I got the Golden Retriever and Friends version of Nintendogs + Cats.

Also, not a huge fighter fan, but I picked up Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition too. It's pretty fun. And the 3D in both games is easily noticeable and well, just plain cool.

Also, the AR games are awesome too. Whoever thought those up was a genius. And Face Raiders... My grandparents were wondering why I was spinning around right after dinner with my 3DS up in front of me. Good times.

So what other games did everyone get? What's on your wishlist?

When I picked it up, I preordered:

-Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (06/02/11)
    -RE: Mercs 3D (July '11)
    -Kid Icarus (08/02/11)
    -Super Mario 3D (08/02/11)

I didn't wanna go in over my head, so I'll play those first, but I also wanna get:

    -Animal Crossing 3D (08/02/11)
    -Paper Mario 3D (08/02/11)
    -Starfox 64 3D (08/02/11)
    -RE: Revelations (TBA)
    -Castlevania (TBA)

August 2nd, man... that's gonna be an interesting day.

Also, friend codes right here! Last updated January 29 2012:

I'm definitely getting one hopefully in June what are the significant differences from the regular DS from a user's standpoint

According to amazon, I'll have mine by Wednesday. Quite excited for this, although I'm mostly going to be playing DS games for the first few months of its release. I'm thinking of getting SSFIV though.

Want one. Can't afford it. The console itself is almost 450 US bucks here. I have time until Revelations is released, I guess.

Does Mexico use NTSC? If so, just import it from the US. If not... You'd have to import every game, too to keep it cheap. Qué lastima. D:

Fortunately, yes. NTSC is the standard here too.
The problem by importing is that it might cost the same as buying it from a store, since shipping isn't that cheap LOL.

And I really don't have the spare money either Oh but I will have it!

The online system is still shit.

It is just one universal friend code now for all games but even though you can see your friends online now and see what they are playing you have no way to message them and say "Wanna game?".

In SSFIV you cannot even send a invite, you would need make a friend-only lobby and just by random chance they search for a friend only game.

It means a seperate communication system is needed, internet forum, IM or whatever. Perhaps knowing Nintendo being overprotective as usual could be excused except the 3DS has a shit load of parental lock options anyway so there is no excuse to not load the thing up with porn and just put it behind a parental lock.

I've been playing a lot of SSF4:3DS on Emma's system (I’m getting my own one for my birthday in May so I’ve been stealing the handheld ) and I am honestly loving it. I thought the 3D wouldn't do much for me and thought it was just being exaggerated with the effects. But after seeing and playing Street Fighter with the slider at max, I’m now convinced with this feature. I've also got to give Capcom thumbs up for me getting into Street Fighter again since I didn’t play 4 on consoles, even if I was tempted, and now I am enjoying it much so playing online on the system.

I'll add Emma's friend code on here (unless she beats me to it when she goes home on her lunch break) so I can add others and vice-versa. Looking forward to playing with some of you online, if any of you are up for it. Hopefully Nintendo's online system gets improved and adds features for better accessibility between friends and online communication. The friend code system is seriously dated and thought they take a nod on how Live/PSN works.

Canas, you better be free for some Mercs 3D/Reveleations COOP (if there is COOP) when they're out. I need my fellow Resident Evil 5 partner to kick ass and take names, like we did with the DLC on the hardest difficutly ;)

Wait are the games region locked that NTSC is an issue I always thought the handhelds were exempt from the whole NTSC/PAL nonsense . . .

You can still play any region DS game on your 3DS, but the 3DS games themselves are region locked.

Well, they're adding messages in a future update, they said. Or at least it's something they wanna try. As for invites, I'm hoping they can try that too.

@Vito: I can't really recall, but I'll do a test by playing/leaving it on a game with full 3D enabled to see how long it lasts.

Well, my 3DS arrived, and two days early! I haven't opened it, I'm going to a friend's birthday party, but I'll definitely post my friend code when I get the chance.

If all goes well, I'll probably pick up Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey and SSFIV3D tomorrow.

Well, I dunno about the rest of the userbase, but that was one of the first things I did was update as soon as I had my wifi set up. Although I agree that it was probably to be expected from the first shipment of new hardware that something was bound to turn up somewhere.
