Yeah, good luck with that.
Anyone got figures for previous projected sales on Capcom games? I mean, 2.5 mil in the space of a few months is surely dreaming, do they have a record of being right with these before?
Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."
I saw they were expecting 1.5m for their new RPG also. THAT seems achievable at least.
But 2.5m? They obviously must think this will grab people when it comes out.
Well it is RE released on two platforms that buy this type of game, in the christmas period (more sales) and has depending on release date 4-5 months to reach that number. This is sales to stores only so they can shift what will supply to the actual gamers for a period past that timeframe.
Seems doable.

They probably think that ORC will sell well because RE5 was 5 million units shipper.
They do the same mistake than with Darkside Chronicles. UC sold well and they expected DC to do the same. Yet, everyone thought that UC sucked and DC did not sell well.
Same with ORC, lots of people are disappointed with RE5 and I think that a lot of them will probably never buy a RE game again.
2.5 million units is a joke. I predict 2 millions at maximum.
2.5 millions is pretty doable for RE, not sure if in the November/December to March 2012 time span, though.
A combination of squad based shooting for the CoD crowd with the added bonus of RE's name value means I can see it happening. Let's face it - RE5 didn't fly off the shelves because it got awesome reviews, because it didn't get many rave reviews, it did it because it was RE5. Although some people will be more cautious with the new titles (read - me) so maybe not.
Capcom can dream at least.
This is looking pretty good.. If they can get the gameplay right, should be the best RE game in awhile.. Umbrella security team look pretty bad ass. I also see a lot of ideas I've thought about before..
Two new pages on ORC in GameInformer, some tidbits...not sure if they're new or not.
- You can shoot human enemies and make them bleed out, causing the horde to close in on them and really fuck their day up. The hands-on makes it sound like this is a better option than just shooting somebody and killing them, and in certain game modes, you get twice as many points for doing this.
- They also say that "the game's weapons feel a bit floaty and underpowered, which is worrying. There's still plenty of time for tweaking and balancing, and we hope that those issues are addressed."
- More info on the game's "score-battle mode":
Kill a zombie - 1 point
Kill a Hunter - 5 points
Kill an enemy player - 10 points
Kill a player with a headshot - 15 points
Cause a player to bleed and get killed by zombies - 20 points
I'm still kinda worried about the whole getting someone to bleed and be attacked by zombies. It seems like they'll be no real variety...grab a zombie to use as a shield, then knee cap the other guy to make the rest of them attack him. Rinse and repeat.
Also, I really hope the points thing is Versus only.
Well, there's three gametypes. Solo with 3 bots, co-op with 3 friends and 4 on 4 competitive. I don't see how the scoring would factor in to anything but competitive. I hope the co-op has long legs because that's where the strength lies, I hope. I also hope there'll be variety and lots of ways to play the co-op...one stage/mission at a time, etc.
It makes the most sense to do that. And if the rumours are true about upgrades and skill trees and such, then the points could be spent on those.
Ideally, this will have a long, solid campaign that can be done in multiple ways with different story paths and such, to get the most out of playing with different people, to take advantage of it's non-cannon storyline, but that might be asking too much of a run and gun game. It might be too much to ask for a Left 4 Dead level of campaign, but we'll see.
Well of course it will need to be replayable.. I just wonder how much better the game would be if they just made it for PC. If more companies focused on making money in the long-term rather than short-term we would see some amazing games. I just feel its going to be gimped because of PS3/XBOX.
I have to question if this game is canon or not, but if it isn't, I'm sure it will be a hit among RE fans cos it is online.
Well, so far everything looks quite good, being that it is kind of like the Outbreak 3 we never got. It ain't so much the game - it is the story.
I'm not really bothered that Leon can die. But it just feels awfully 'wrong' to try to kill off characters like Leon, cos a) it is not what truly happened and b) it would likely anger the fans of Leon. So perhaps there will be a canon ending where the other team helps Leon survive, although in RE2 it is clear he had none. No help I mean...
Yes, even Leon has his fans!
But like I said... I doubt this is even canon. Outbreak 1 and 2 feel more relevant to the RE timeline than this!
