Default Muscles Glasses vs. Jensen Ackles (Or: Team Chris vs. Team Leon)

I should have made this topic here years ago. I need to rally up the battle for the main RE protagonist.

    So

    vs.

    Ah.....the old debate

I prefer underrated Chris. Leon is so overhyped, it's scary (outside of the RE fandom anyway)

That said, I don't like how they buffed up Chris for RE5, just like a lot of people. In terms of body shape, it's easier to relate to Leon, but in terms of personnality I much prefer Chris.

I admit that Leon is more stylish, though.

I think Chris' popularity is a bit like Timothy Dalton as James Bond. Not very much people liked Dalton, because he wasn't as suave as the others and was very serious. Yet, I believe he's the best James Bond, because he was much more human and believable than the others.

It's exactly the same for Chris. He's not as funny and cool as Leon and he's very serious all the time. But, he's much more believable than Leon because he looked like and acted like an ordinary man (before RE5 at least).

This debate can be settled in cat-e-mah-gories. Feel free to contribute yo two cents to it, but let's look into these selections:

    1. Relationship with the ladies.

    2. The threads they wear.

    3. The training and kung-fu that they have when they're out killing zombies and foreign people.

    4. Their friends and rivals. And by rivals I mean friends that betrayed them.... Complicated shit like that homie.

    5. What they accomplished, dawg.

    That's a good start, yo.

When you said Muscles Glasses I assumed you mean MG from Epic Mealtime. In that case I vote for MG from Epic Mealtime.

Pretty much this. Chris in a runaway. Leon in RE2 was cool but went completely downhill after that, whereas the Chris vs. Wesker/Umbrella rivalry was a driving force throughout the entire series, and now it's over and I don't know where they can go next.

Think of it like this...put Leon in Chris's shoes in RE5 when a boulder needed punching. Not a single punch would've been thrown, instead, Leon would've hurled one-liners at the boulder in hopes that it'd wilt under the lameness.

    Sheva: "Help!"
Leon(to boulder): "Rain or shine, you're going down!"
    Sheva: "He's coming! Shoot him!"
Leon(to boulder): "Your hand comes off?"
Sheva: "What are you doing?! Help me!"
Leon: *runs up the boulder and backflips, landing in a crouched position. Looks up as his hair flops.* "Hasta luego."
Sheva: "He's getting closer! HELP ME!!!"
    Leon(to boulder): "Got gum."
    Sheva: "AAAAHHHHHHH!!!"
Leon(to boulder): "Where's everyone going? Bingo?"
Sheva: "AAGHGH--" *gets mauled by Wesker*
Leon(to boulder): "Boulder, you're small time."
    Sheva: *gurgle*
Leon(to boulder): "Sorry, but following a lady's lead just isn't my style. "

    That's a good start, yo.
    1. Leon is unlucky with ladies. Impossible love with Ada, refused Ashley's overtime and Hunnigan turned him down. The only possibility seems to be with Angela.

Chris is always surrounded by beautiful partners except for Rebecca perhaps.
But he's not better than Leon and always act like a good friend with them, nothing more. I'd say he's even worse than Leon because he never showed any sign of romantic interest for any woman he worked with.

    2. Leon got a pretty cool leather jacket in 4. I love his shoulder holster, also. But his RPD uniform from RE2 was pretty lame and looked like a fucking pyjama.

Chris never really had any cool outfits in my opinion. They weren't bad either, especially his S.T.A.R.S uniform from RECV. But they are just military uniforms. Nothing that could make Chris "stylish". Leon (RE4, Degeneration) wins here, in my opinion.

    3. Chris is an exceptionnal marksman and is extremely resilient as proven when he was dealing with Wesker. His combat style looks like Kick boxing and his melee attacks hurt a lot!

Leon is more agile. He relies on his acrobatic skills and quick thinking more than combat skills. However, he's also ressourceful. But he relies a lot on luck to survive also.

In my opinion, Chris is a much better fighter than Leon.

    4. Needless to mention the rivalry between Chris and Wesker. Probably the best in the entire series. It should have been better in RE5, but in RECV it was awesome.
As for friends, there is a lot chemistry between Chris and Jill, so it's nice to see them together.

The relationship between Leon and Ada is awesome and the second best relationship after Chris and Wesker.
The rivalry between Krauser and Leon is quite cool, but it was too short. Intense, nonetheless.

Chris vs Wesker wins, of course

    5. Chris created an entire anti-bioterrorism organization. Destructed Umbrella and killed Wesker.
Leon saved the president's daughter and destroyed a group of religious terrorists.

Chris accomplished a lot more, obvisouly

So, the conclusion is simple : Chris is a better character. Not as stylish as Leon perhaps, but far superior in every other aspect.

I've always been a bigger Leon fan. I think Chris is boring.
    Mass production? Ridiculous!

I'm definitely in the Chris bracket, and I think the main reason is because he was the primary protaganist in CODE: Veronica. Anything tied to CODE: Veronica equals instant glory.

    1. They never explicitly say "Chris be humpin' Jill," but I've always seen that as at least a "friends with benefits" relationship if not an actual relationship. Chris definitely seems to have some deeper feelings for Jill. Leon just seems like that random metrosexual dude in high school that all the girls fall for, but none of the dudes can really understand why. I don't even understand the appeal to Leon, yet my friend is in the Leon category.

    2. Meh, I've always preferred Chris' S.T.A.R.S. uniform compared to Leon's R.P.D. one.

    3. They both seem to have some moves...

    4. The Wesker rivarly definitely surpasses the Ada relationship; there is a lot more story with Wesker. Plus, I've always seen Leon as a moron when it comes to Ada. If someone tricks you and points a gun in your face once, logic would dictate that when you again have something they want history will repeat itself. Dumbass.

    5. Who accomplished more? Chris.

I feel terrible having already cast my vote because reading the responses I can see where the logic would fall in Chris' favor. I obviously on impulse chose Leon as RE2 was my first real immersion into the RE world and he was the hero. (I was 12 at the time XD)

    1. Chris I think handles his relationships with the ladies with a sense of professionalism to a fault. I mean we'd all love to see some flirt or something else, but he always kept it focused and I guess if you imagine being that situation I'd rather have a focused gunmen on my back instead of the one tapping my rear jokingly.

Leon just infuriates me in this part. I'm not a fan of the pairing between Ada and Leon. It just sort of makes me mad how he doesn't have his head on straight. The woman has goals and well he's a doormat.

    2. Even with RE5 alternate costumes, Chris just couldn't fish something out that really gave a sense of style, but come now the man is worried about his next mission. I'll give this Leon, and he needs it because the threads are as important as the dreamy hair. It all creates character to make up for the other areas like handling ladies and their advances. I did rather enjoy his alternate looks in RE4

    3. I have a hard time with this because despite the overwhelming power and strength Chris has gained over the years, I still want to cite him and have him appear in court for steroid use. Leon's agility can be quite advantageous. Imagining him fighting Wesker for instances...wait...no not happening.

    4. This is Chris' win hands down. His story arch has defined the series for years. With Code Veronica there was this rush of fresh air with Wesker's return. The end battle between them was epic beyond any encounters in RE5, but that may be because there was this adrenaline rush of your main character getting his butt kicked in just the raw fashion and there was no explanation quite yet why Wesker was suddenly handing you your bum. Leon really hasn't had a real story to propel the series. It was the revamp of the gaming style and fundamental elements tweeked to change the classic horror into something more fast paced. That was Leon's contribution. I think he's given the series more in the film. I guess Leon is more for Hollywood...

    5. Chris has cracked on so many skulls and foiled the plans of dozens while starting up his own organization. He even saved his own sister. That...makes it personal and relates to the audience. Leon has saved a few people but almost shot said sister. Tsk tsk...I hand it to Chris also that he became the bane of a meglomaniac's existence. That is pretty hard to do since they see the world is underneath their boot anyways. To have a fly be that annoying for the nemesis of the series is a real task accomplished.

    'nuff said...too much...

    Chris hands down.

    I liked Leon...In RE2.

    RE4 completely fucked up Leon.

I used to like Chris a lot when he was the whitebread (clean-cut) man-with-a-badge with the Jewish afro. But not so much after he got into steroids and powerbars. He basically became a fugitive from the WWE. Likes to hit boulders with his bare fists. And his hairstyle... Jesus... its crap. Its the "I've been hit with a pillow in the face" hairstyle made popular by the 'Friends' sitcom.

Now, I still like the new Chris though. I'm willing to give old 'fridge with a chia pet on top' a second chance with the upcoming Revelations. Lets see how that one turns out.

Leon, well... he's basically Jack Bauer & Jason Bourne rolled into one. The NEO-ninja metrosexual and who like Wesker, has an 80's haircut. He's Ada Wong's guilty pleasure. And the master of lame one liners (move aside Barry Burton). He's also the face of CHANGE that many like to hate for that very reason.

Playing as him in Mercenaries is crap. Don't like to use him in that mini-game. Starts with no hand grenades, the damn fool.

Anywhoo... I didn't vote... since I only vote for Jill Valentine.

My vote goes to Leon. RE2 is my favourite of the older games, and he feels more likable to me. The introduction as a rookie cop sells better to me. Sure it's a cliché, but hardened special forces member is even more cliché.

Plus in Degeneration he sounds like such a suave fellow. Chris hasn't had the chance to do that yet. At least, I don't think so.
