Exactly, it blows my mind that they complain of it.

I've always thought, personally, that Resident Evil 5 took what Resident Evil 4 did, and refined it, giving a much better paced game (honestly 4 lags halfway through, it really does), a much better progression with weapons (honestly, fuck the merchant system) a more engaging story, and an opportunity to share it all with someone. Granted there's absolutely no scares or tension, but then I found there wasn't in 4 anyway.

I appreciate i'm on my own with a lot of this though.

I agree with you. Bio 5 was fine in my opinion. My only gripe would be the climax of the game and the lengthy development time considering it is just basically an upgrade of Bio 4.

I'll take a wild guess and say you didn't want Wesker to die TheBatMan

Maybe it's the fact that Wesker had one of the lamest deaths in the series...

That's entirely subjective, I liked it. Could've been better? Sure but it was not bad.

A bit of both. I understand those who feel he had nowhere left to go as a character, I get that. But at the same time I feel he still had a little bit of life left in him.

But if he had to die then yeah I wanted it to be better than that, as did practically everyone I expect.

But as a game I found it enjoyable. Not really into co-op, always preferred my Resi to be a solo experience and I will be the same with Bio 6. But the characters were fine, story was fine. The back story of Progenitor was particularly good I thought with nice references to Marcus.

I had no issues with the way Spencer was handled either. I understand people whine about how little screen time he had, but as for his character portrayal and motivations what did anyone else really expect of him? I thought his motives were good.

So overall a solid enough entry for me without being spectacular.

Personally I rate Code: Veronica as the weakest of the main series games.

I loved the Spencer scene as for me it was a huge homage to Blade Runner, meeting the maker and killing them kind of scenario.

Wesker's death is ridiculous for the fact it's set in a volcano, but at the same time I'm pleased Capcom let him remain Wesker so to speak, I was so worried they'd turn him into a blob monster or something like that, if the final sequence took place in a steelworks with molten lead, or whatever, and the same sequence happened with him burning, then rocketed, I wouldn't think half as many people would have an issue. The issue is the volcano.

Expecting Wesker to go out like a bad ass.

I also have absolutely no problem with RE5. I thought the gameplay was great, and the story was fine. Only gripe I had, was like everyone else, is the lack of horror and Wesker's death. I feel like when that bomber took off, and sheva was chasing after it, she should have got left behind. Final boss fight should have been just Chris vs Wesker. Also yeah, the volcano was just utterly ridiculous.

Its funny, I have a friend who absolutely despises RE5 for the most ridiculous reasons. One of them being how the flowers were the source of progenitor. Not quite sure what's wrong with flowers but whatever.

No. Around the same amount of space, yes, but no option to examine items and spin them around in glorious detail. I hated that it was live-action, too.

RE4's was incredibly superior in every aspect. I don't care about quick weapons switching, either, but there's no reason it couldn't have been added to the RE4 inventory in some capacity.

I'm glad someone agrees with me. What bothered me the most was the linearity and lack of exploration in RE5, which I believe was influenced by the co-op direction. When you have two people playing a game, one is always going to want to go faster than the other. One may want to take their time and explore the area for items or files, but the other just wants to get the show on the road. The developers obviously knew this, and thus designed the game to be direct as possible. This is in complete contrast to the previous RE games (even RE4 to an extent), which bothered me since I came to this series for the exploration and immersion.

I liked that RE5's story tied into the mythology of the series (as opposed to RE4's), but I still think that RE4 had the better story. It's just that the execution was wrong.

    Yes and no.

It made it ridiculous, no doubt, but the entire climax of the game was drawn out and completely over-the-top. Wesker never needed to mutate in my opinion, and regardless of the fact that he didn't completely lose his humanity (like the lead antagonists of almost every other game in the series), it still turned him into a cliche. I think it would have been better if he had been decapitated or cut in half, since that pretty much sends the "he's dead" message. Then Chris and Sheva could have burned his remains in the molten lead or whatever, just to be sure. I know one of the developers said that the climax was so ridiculous because they wanted to send the message to the fans that Wesker was dead for good, but people still doubted it.

That wouldn't work in today's co-op obsessed world. The experience has to be "shared," bro! ;D

Of all the reasons to despise RE5, that is definitely not one of them. It's probably one of the only interesting things about the game, if you ask me.
    Mass production? Ridiculous!

I'm with you in terms of I can see where you are coming from on every level except for Resident Evil 4 has a better story.

Government agent saving President's daughter, is utterly garbage against a company using viral weaponry as terrorism and a company built around stopping that. Resident Evil 5 has a great story. I'll give you that it's not told as well as it could of been.

Well, IMO RE4 story is worse, Saddler even hung a lampshade on it (the American movie line).

He's posting Firefly related pictures (the one in the Eurovision one is one from Castle. Yes, I study Nathan Fillion enough to know) although frankly, the Wash with his Dinosaurs one makes no real sense here. There is no conclusion there - only a journey to This Land and the T-Rex's sudden yet inevitable betrayal.

Maybe he thinks the forums are now 4chan? I dunno.
