Im with Darkmoon, I think the gameplay looks like a race to kill as many zombies as possible. I played a million games like this its no different from your run of the mill shooter. How on earth is this better than RE5? Seriously? Someone tell me? The pace is shite, the graphics are dull and boring, the story is pretty good but thats where it ends for me. Chris's demo looks like a cross between Army of Two and Kane and Lynch to me, if you are happy with RE becoming that then good for you but they both seemed like average games to me. Congrats! you have gone from the best horror game to an average shooter.

Does anyone else think the new Nemesis type monster slowly extending his metal claw in front of that guys face was a nod to Nemesis's Brad face tentacle?

Oh man, drunk Chris is the best Chris. But I can't tell what's on his necklace? Looks like a coin to me, not a ring. But OMG I want it to be a ring SO BAD.

Also, for those who are talking about the environments looking "bland": I was recently in northeastern Europe and I can assure you that the environments are accurate. I can post some pics if people are interested.

You can finally walk and shoot? That's the only advantage I saw.

It looks like big improvement over RE5 so far, and it's obvious Capcom is really trying to add some atmosphere and scares into the game. But it still looks like it's mostly a fast paced action game with a single linear path to follow and no puzzles at all...something ORC got a lot of flak for, I seem to recall.

So far, my opinion is pretty much, 'It looks better than I was expecting, but it's not good enough to make me want to buy it new' so...but on the other hand, I haven't seen the newer gameplay videos yet. Chris' intro sounds promising. It's the most basic of character development, something that should have happened a decade ago, but it is something. Fleshing out the characters would be a big deal, but it would also mean they need to start fleshing out the villains into realer people, and that means less 'Global Domination/Becoming a God' bullshit.
ORC was great though especially when it comes to the co-op and multiplayer. Nothing says bad ass like four players going against a Nemesis amidst the chaos of an infected outbreak. RE6 also needed that linearity and co-op to keep things at an equal pace. I've recently seen that like Jake's scenario, the Leon and Chris demos include a tracking marker to your next destination so that will put an end to all those times where you got frustrated over losing your way in Biohazard. Really, they've taken every step they could to ensure that this game succeeds in every direction. They got new zombies. A new 'nemesis. A new take on Chris and Leon. New Wesker. New locations. New partners. New melee and QTEs. New villain. New virus. Everything is is fresh and original.

He's had character before. But he's widely regarded for being more of a boy scout. Not so much now that he has a thirst for blood.

Looks like you can disable it.

Another nod to Dead space perhaps.

I like the direction they're taking Chris in. Live long enough to see yourself become the villain and all that.

Thats not an advantage I dont wanna walk and shoot if I wanted to walk and shoot I'd play Cod or Battlefield or one of the other thousand mindless shooter games. I thought this game would be better than the other shooters in different ways so I was ok with it but it turns out that its exactly the same as all the others just not as good. I was scared that Jakes story would be the worst and kind of ruin the game but from whatt I have seen so far apart from Leon's opening well Jake's is the best.

But why would anyone want to do that? It certainly beats stopping to check your map.

I'd hardly say fresh and original. It's still RE5 at heart, albeit a much more polished version of RE5. But I do agree - they're doing everything possible to make this game a success, and seem to be really trying to fuse some horror into the new, action based gameplay. As for new takes...while vaguely enraged that it took six main games and hell only knows how many cancelled betas, spin off titles and odd movies to actually start doing character advancement, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't overjoyed to see it.

Better late than never Capcom. That's the motto of a 1.5 supporter right there.

I would keep it on only if the game is as liner as it looks. If there's anything remotely resembling exploration it's turned off forever.

Well, if they are going to make the game more about shooting then at least they are making it good. I seriously gave hope that RE woould be a survival horror again so if it can still be a fun game with a non-shit story, unlike RE5 and ORC, I'll say it's an improviment.

Not so much. Theres a difference between becoming a villain, and just anguish.

Yeah, Chris isn't anywhere close to being a villain. He's just out there for bloody revenge, and by the looks of his determination, he's gonna accomplish his objective.

To be fair, the whole quote (from the greatest movie of all time, The Dark Knight) was "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." I'd argue that Chris is on that precipice. He's not a bad guy yet, but he's on the path.

He's still fighting for justice, truth, and peace. Doesn't seem like he's even close to being on the path of becoming a villain. He's just become less of the nice guy and more ruthless which is why I suppose you are getting the villain vibe from him. But that's only because apparently the helmet and goggled heroes were probably good friends of Chris, and they were under his command directly this time around. On top of that, he's been holding things in ever since RE1 where he started losing friends, so the events of RE6 act like an "overload" and he started drinking to drown the sarrows. But then becomes ruthless and determined to find Carla or "Blue Ada" and snap her in two, killing any other villains who might come in the way.

Not to mention he's also taking on other less-personal missions at the same time, rescuing the U.N. official and stopping the C-Virus outbreaks. So he's still sane and knows what he's doing.

Chris will never end up on that path, hes basically Captain America pissed off, Captain America may end up killing more people than he planned to take down a bad guy, but something always stops him and makes him think twice before killing the bad guy.
