RIP Charles Durning. American character actor and WW2 veteran.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/26/mo...9.html?hp&_r=0

In pop culture hes most known for voicing Peter Griffins father Francis from 1999-2009 in Family Guy.

I thought that this story he shared from WW2 is something that should be remembered about the man. Even if you dont recognize him its still something that sticks with you.

“I was crossing a field somewhere in Belgium,” he said. “A German soldier ran toward me carrying a bayonet. He couldn’t have been more than 14 or 15. I didn’t see a soldier. I saw a boy. Even though he was coming at me, I couldn’t shoot.”

They grappled, he recounted later — he was stabbed seven or eight times — until finally he grasped a rock and made it a weapon. After killing the youth, he said, he held him in his arms and wept.

Mr. Durning said the memories never left him, even when performing, even when he became, however briefly, someone else.

    RIP sir.

Robin Sachs, probably best known for playing Ethan in Buffy but also the voice of Zaeed from Mass Effect, Lord Harrowmont in Dragon Age and Ataman in Resident Evil Damnation, died back on the first.

A great shame, he was really talented...I'd never have guessed those characters were the same man. My condolences.

Stuart Freeborn died today. He was 98 years old.

Freeborn designed the apes from 2001: A Space Odyssey. That was something that came in handy when he later did Star Wars and had to work on Chewbacca. BTW, he was the man that came up with the final design for Yoda in the ESB.

He also worked on the Superman films.

Better known to most of us as Captain Peacock from "Are You Being served?",I always loved his performance on this show myself, I grew up watching it as a kid. Really sad to hear hes passed on, the man was a wonderful actor.

You and me, both, brother. :/

I... really just hoped for the best, too. The fact he survived this long is nothing short of a miracle... but 4 years is a long time to be comatose.

I hate that he died, hate that he was even in a coma... but really, I'm glad he and his family doesn't have to suffer, anymore.

    He will be sorely missed.
