He never said that, he said the pre-orders are off the the best start. This is likely because time between announcement and release date is shorter than any other RE title in the last 10 years.

That surprised me also, can't believe they waited so long to announce. They most have know a story right after 5 and are probably using a similar engine. I remember hearing talk it could be 8 years before 6 came out, glad that was untrue.
